This is what I heard also. All wait so long to get the car.
1.6 immediately can process. Just only 2.0 dont know need to wait for how long.

Sometime abit tired for keep on waiting. And need to trade in the car for it.
Worry that time the price for trade in car also drop alot.

that's the problem..if u holding ur current car until dec then ur current ride will fetch lower RV..but if u sell it now then u better have backup ride until Jan 2014...

another problem is those already bought their registration numbers or "ong" numbers and have no car for registration...those numbers can keep for max 3 months only b4 expired...

Hi everyone,

Tested few cars and I start to narrow down to cerato 1.6 (my best preference so far).

But i need to check again.

a) If i drive 110km/h or 130km/h on highway (in case i forgot to see the meter which goes up to 130), I assume cerato 1.6 will do well right? The whole car won't shake?

b) Based on my test drive, the cabin noise quite quiet which I like. But when I press the oil a bit, I can hear the engine sound which is noticeable. Is this okay or 1.6 is underpowered?

I like the comfort though.

c) For Kia cerato 1.6, will the spareparts gonna be expensive? They said japanese cars more suppliers to get spare parts and korean cars only 2 places to get (original which has hyundai and kia logo which the supplier is Mobis or Mobis which doesn't have the hyundai and kia logo). The latter will be cheaper. Is this true? Takkan only 2 sources?

for spare parts, is korea cerato really really expensive?

e.g. the mechanic told me

if atos 1.1 gear box is rm3500, vios 1.5 also around the same price. But of course he said atos is old car which has problems. But newer cars less problems but the price is still higher. Any sifoo on kia cerato?

d) For kia cerato 1.6 5 years warranty and unlimited mileage thing.. what if I service my car outside to my mechanic, will that void the warranty? I need to be sure for this. I have a family mechanic which I used a lot. Prefer to service there. Unless first 2 - 3 times I don't mind at Kia service centre.

e) For the back seat airconds, can i control the temperature one? Or it is just standard? I know the front left and right air conds can control, but how about the back?

f) what is the full tank in RM for RON95 for Kia cerator 1.6? RM100?

and if full tank, how many KM can go? Again highway I drive 110, but normal roads i drive around 80 - 90.

g) If I buy the car in january 2014, I assume there's stock right. It seems 2.0 has to queue long. 2.0 cerato is out of my budget.

h) does kia cerato 1.6 come with any tinted windows? I see the car like a bit dark, but I forgot to ask the sales man. Any idea?

i) What is the best hire purchase interest rate for kia cerato for 7 years? anything better than 2.3 or 2.4? How come so high one?

Any help? Thanks.

Eric,

a) Stable and poise with no vibration while RPM hovers at around 2,500.
b) The Cerato is definitely not the most underpowered car among the 1.6 sedan around.
c) How long do you plan to keep the car? Expensive parts are covered by the 5 years warranty. It's still too early to tell about the GB reliability.
d) You will definitely void the warranty by not sending the car into a authorised Kia SC.
e) The rear aircond temp follows the driver side temp.
f) RM108 for RON95. Full tank of 50 litres gives me around 500km. City 80% Highway 20%
g) 1.6 should have no stock constraint. You will need to check with the respective SA.
h) AFAIK, it's not tinted but I did notice the word "Solar glass" printed on the side windows.
i) Should around the rate you mentioned.

Thanks smile.gif

few more questions.

1) just curious even though vios or honda city is not within this segment and 1.5, but compare to cerato which one is more underpowered? my guess cerato as the body bigger?

2) i plan to drive for 5 - 7 years. for my current car, i already drive for 9 years and no plans to sell. But again who knows what will happen in future?

3) so basically the expensive parts i don't have to worry? all covered?

4) Looking at the elantra thread, the only issue about cerato is that it's complicated as too techy compare to elantra. Will this be an issue? I am worried my wife dunno how to drive my new car if I am not around. Have any of your wife or ladies drive this car, any issues?

Thanks in advance.

Most of your questions had been answered beautifully by brendanc. There are only a few things I like to add.

1) The Cerato 1.6 with 130hp is never under power. Test drive one and feel it for yourself.

2) A life span of a car will depend greatly on how well a person maintain the car. That is the reason the 5 years warranty is given with condition that the car must be maintain according to schedule and only by Kia Service Center. At Kia every parts change, service, complaint and the car health will be recorded in the system. If a car is service by unauthorized workshop Kia have no way of knowing how well the car is maintain, what had been change and so on...

3) Genuine parts will always be slightly more expensive then imitation parts but it have better quality and durability. In term of price Kia genuine parts are comparable if not cheaper than the T or H brand but certainly cheaper then any continental brands.

4) It is certainly not complicated. A lot of those features are automatic. Example: ABS, EBD, TCS, ESC, BS, 6 airbags, reverse camera, front sensor and many other features which are there to assist your driving and also for safety reasons. They are designed to be there with good reasons, purpose, usefulness and certainly not there to be "complicate".

5) brendanc is right about the solar glass. Not found in many other makes the solar glass in the Cerato is a UV cut glass. Many people still tint the car for a few reasons. To increase the heat rejection percentage, anti break properties & the darkness to reduce glare.

If you like to test drive the Cerato 1.6 you are welcome to contact me. I have a test drive unit readily available and I'll be happy to take trough the car in detail.
