About to join the cerato family soon

Btw, do you guys install pedal locks? If yes which brands do you use? Locktech, aorto, redbat, locktach or others?

Any opinion is greatly appreciated

I installed a PPF on the entire front portion of the car. Worth every penny considering how many scratches there are on it now.

For the headlamp, you can get it done for about RM200/side if not wrong. Forgot the breakdown already. You can check out GGuard. They use xPel eXtreme or Ultimate PPF (the latter is sort of self healing).

Hi guys, wonder if anyone have their headlamp protected by film? Am thinking since cerato headlamp is one of the stylish mark of cerato (with DRL), would want to survey where to get the headlamp protected by small little stones on the road.

If anyone could have some information on this with a price, please do kindly share. smile.gif

By the way i am thinking to remove the "CERATO" logo on my car, to make it looks nicer and slick (No logos behind, except the KIA on the boot trunk) tongue.gif

I generally go to JD Auto in Kota Kemuning. They've got excellent mechanic there and they've built up quite a bit of experience in troubleshooting. Pretty much anything I raise, they've got an answer, but most importantly they offer a solution.

On the passenger airbag indicator, I noticed the amount of time it stays on can vary from time to time. I normally use that as an indicator that I can start driving. I.e it gives you a rough visual queue that your engine's warmed up sufficiently to drive off...although that's not what it was designed for tongue.gif

Thanks for the reply, very good point you have there. I do agree in perspective of logic thinking, i would think kia sc have a better chance of better service in terms of minor issues complain/questions compare to dealers sc, as dealer sc might need time to get feedback from HQ plus they hopefully want to charge you (this is how they earn extra) as you know we definately like the car we bought, so minor flaws in the new car makes us want to seek for a solution to perfect the car (at least that is what we hope).

Any recommendation for SC? Is RED CUBE PJ good enough?
I wish to state few of my 1st service question/compains here to sifus and wise owner to seek guidence.  tongue.gif

1)My hand brake needs to pulls up to 4 levels (4 "tik-tak" sound on the release button when i pull) to be able to have a firm grip, do i need to tighten it ?

2)Does KX have a cigi lighter on the 12V?

3)Does the center compartment (where the 12V is place) chrome button have a locking function? As i notice it doesn't have any "click" sound when i pull all the way down to close it.

4)The pasenger SRS airbag ON signal stays on for quite a long time (around 1 min plus) when i start the car, is this normal?

5)Does KX have passenger seat belt warning?

6) What is complimentation on the 1st service?

Hope sifus here don't mind my newbie questions as i just got the car for 1 week plus and previously driving an older version car (nissan sentra 1.6), many functions are new to me laugh.gif

Thanks perror for this info, and yup definately the headlamp needs protection as with kl/sel road nowdays are pot holes and construction works everywhere (the lrt project), i am forseeing without protection, the headlamp will have strach marks soon. hmm.gif

I'll try the SC u mentioned as well, as most important is what you mentioned. SOLUTION rclxms.gif, if not why we bring our car to a service centre if without any problem ? laugh.gif

Yeah the roads around town are pretty bad. I just went into a large hole yesterday. One big issue with the K3 is the rims are fairly flimsy...so just gotta watch it.

With regards to problems, it's also sometimes good to do some homework with regards to the issues. Some of the problems can be best sorted with some collaborative troubleshooting.

I recently had some issues after changing my ATF. They offered to keep the car for a day to check the problem when the engine and gearbox is cold. I suggested to them to do a adaptive values reset on the gearbox, engine and brakes., something that can be found in various online sites. Problem went away.

It's probably quite useful to read up on these bits and the ownership experience will certainly be better especially when we face problems. biggrin.gif

It is possible to do a layer of glass coating on the headlamp to protect it from dirt /grease and from minor scratches. Not sure about any tinting technology for head lamp though as it is external and unlike on the windows where the tint is being done from the inside.

Heard of owners taking out the KX emblem, but hardly heard of anybody wanting to get rid of the Cerato emblem.... But it's your car, do what pleases you of course, by all means. For removal of any emblem, you can use those fishing line to do the job to prevent any untoward scratches. Good luck!

Yup GGuard can do it. They'll basically layer a piece of xPel PPF onto it. You will actually see a layer of thick film after it's done if you look closely. But most of the time it's not visible. Kinda like a screen protector for the headlamp. Had it on for nearly a year and it's good so far. No de-lamination yet biggrin.gif

Hi guys, going to get my cerato 2.0 this week.
There is a thing that need to seek advise from members here.
Any member here installed the suspension buffer rubber?
Does it help?
Need to install 4 unit or just two unit at the rear?

Spring buffers are generally used on older cars where their suspensions have been weakened due to age to provide additional stiffness before a replacement is carried out. It can be installed onto a new car to give you more stiffness though. However, best that you check out how you like the ride and whether do you need the additional stiffness.

Naturally the stiffer your suspension, the more shock that gets transferred to your chassis as well.

Sad news guys. My new car got bumped by a careless old A**hole yesterday cry.gif , that stupid guy whenon reverse to get out of parking and i have sensed that he might not see my car, so i waved at him few times hinting i'll move my car for his reserve convenience, but that shit kept reserve and as soon as i got in my car to start the enggine, he bumped on my car!!!

I get down to check on the damage and scolded him for not checking clearly before reserve. Really felt like whacking him is not he's a 50plus guy bruce.gif

The bumper slightly up, and that guy act stupid still asking whenbumper when up when he just bump on the side. mad.gif , no choice on that situation as he made a few stratch marks on my bumper. So i got his phone and say will check on damage to repair. (This A**hole thinks it's a small matter n don't need to bother wacko.gif Of course la, his old proton VS my BRAND NEW 1 week plus old cerato!!!)

Came here to post the damage pic to see any bros here have suggestions of fixing it? Can't stand to watch my new car have marks.

I basically when to a paint shop and he quoted me RM250 for whole bumper paint. Said my car paint have "pearl" so a bit expensive. Just metalic can done with RM200)

Still doing survey, hope sifus here can recomment good price and nice workman. Thanks

Yeah, i just removed my KX few days back. Thought of remove the cerato emblem is due to i saw one OTR removed and to be frank i think it's kind of nice and i also didn't realise what model of kia it is until it brakes tongue.gif , it actually gave a "clean" and nice feel, plus washing car will no longer need to "avoid" the cerato emblem. thumbup.gif . Of couse it's just my own opinion as not many KX OTR, removing it leaves those that are curious wondering what model of kia it is. laugh.gif

Hmm, agreed. Trying to pick up these technical knowledge laugh.gif as i was drving a manual nissan 1.6 for so many years. And u can imagine my nissan is totally without much advance driving technologies except those not affecting driving like auto side mirror, hence only do engine oil, filter, spark plug, radiator add water etc blush.gif . (Basically add in /change and it'll work. No reset issues laugh.gif )

By the way, I know of a guy who could help you with your bumper if you've not found any. Feel free to drop me a PM if you need the contact.

As to whether our bumper have pearls, that's the first time I heard about it. That normally refers to the Prius with the blizzard white paint, which can be a real pain to get right once something happens. Our's is just standard metallic paint.

Thanks a lot for sharing, have pm you. Not sure about the pearl but when i ask about it i was under the sun and i really do see some "pearl" effect, if it's just metallic i guess i won't shine like that (i see from the side, not direct to the paint, vertical view not horizontal view)
Maybe it's the sun or it's new paint. Can't really comfirm unless a kia tech/dealler check on paint check to confirm blush.gif , my color is glittering metal from kia color variants.
