nowadays if ur ccris no record more than 1-2 yrs hard to apply new cc , thats what i heard from my banker friends..

but how if u have 5 years record of hire purchase and credit card and you choose to pay off one lump sum to your hire purchase and cancel your 5 years credit card, hence, ur ccris record won't have any records of ur past 5 years hire purchase and cc...

and u start to apply cc .. after they check in ur ccris it's clean and...

any idea? or bank can check records for ccris even though ur hire purchase been cancel or they will have records for past few years even though u cancel your cc? hmm...

I really don't know but I think it is not that difficult to own a credit card now. sweat.gif

When I called to cancel my card, a few days later, a lady called me for retention purpose. She asked me what's the real reason that I wanna cancel this card. I told her not much benefits and the hassle of getting a pin to login online banking. I was asked to go to the nearest branch to do this. She promised me will look into it and check with the relevant people.

Anyway, after a serious consideration, I called for cancellation again on Thursday after being retained.

Yesterday received this SMS. hmm.gif

i received that sms too.

OK, then this is normal but I don't have RHB online. cry.gif

QUOTE(dlwl @ Aug 1 2015, 01:33 AM)
I received this SMS too. I had to call about 2-3 times to cancel both my RHB CCs( Travel Money and Visa Signature). The last time I called, one of their reps did a report for me and said that they will proceed to cancel the card. But now when I check via RHBonline, both cards are still there and I received the same SMS too today. Does this mean that my card is still actually active?
*
I'm worse than you, I don't even have the account to check. cry.gif
Next week I will call again and probably get them to write me an email for proof that it has been cancelled.

always a good practice to terminate CC thru black and white.
*
Yes, that's my practice too.

but you posted you called to terminate?  rclxub.gif

once you have black and white, it is easier to follow up.
*
Yes, I called to terminate and will ask them to send me email or letter. smile.gif
I seldom terminate CC la. So far only HSBC, SCB and UOB. laugh.gif
HSBC, I have received from email. UOB received via letter. SCB, I don't recall anything but nothing on my SCB online anymore. I still have their online banking for my savings account. I know there's a risk here. tongue.gif

I see. I mean write in to terminate CC is better than calling. In that way, when the bank fail to do as per instructed, can just forward that email/letter/fax to a higher authority/department  brows.gif
*
Good idea. I will do it for my next card's cancellation. tongue.gif

QUOTE(victorywp @ Aug 1 2015, 10:43 PM)
although rhb cc is one of the least benefits for me to use, but i must say that the rhb staff who signed me up is the most extraordinary guy i have ever met for a cc agent.

1) he gave me a xiaomi 10k mah powerbank on the spot during sign up
2) he couriered me a samsonite backpack after i signed up 2 rhb cc and swiped once each
3) when i told him i prefer another colour for the backpack, he came all the way to my place to exchange it for me
4) when i told him i can't do online banking as i can't set up my phone with the cc at rhb atm, he came all the way to my place and he brought the thumb print machine and nric machine to scan and print it for me to sign on the spot, so that he can submit for me to the hq
5) when i dropped/lost my cc and the cc was used by someone at 3 petrol stations amounted to rm200, i lodged a police report and disputed the amount to rhb but was later rejected by rhb to absorb the amount, i told him and surprisingly, he deposited his own rm200 to my cc to solve it
6) when i refused to get a replacement card for the lost cc as i need to pay for it, he said he will request a replacement card without charge for me
7) when i complain that it's troublesome to set the sms notification for every transaction, he said he will request for it to be done at his end
*
So you must continue holding RHB cards as a way of appreciation. laugh.gif

Alright thanks for info smile.gif

It doesn't have much benefits, if you have 60k per annum, I will suggest AmBank Plat.
Kinda regretted applying this RHB Plat, now I might have the risk that it will stay on my CCRIS despite cancelled. I will need to monitor and follow up closely.

I see, reason why look for this card because of 4 times PPL...

Let's me have a check for the Ambank Plat then
*
AmBank is unlimited entries, free for life but the PPL access comes with conditions.
Easy peasy for me. Plus it has overseas PPL which I always frequent.

ambank platinum oso same like rhb platinum. no benefit at all. what for want o change it?
*
At least AmBank gives new sign up cash back and its current dining+groceries cash back.
In addition, it's a free for life card plus it gives unlimited entries to PPL and even overseas PPL which is good for me as I travel quite often. It even has PPL for Changi and Beijing International Airport and I travel to Beijing quite often.

So yeah, I guess that justifies my stance.

QUOTE(sangaran @ Aug 5 2015, 12:43 PM)
I have just called the CS to cancel my Platinum card. Of course she asked for reasons and I mentioned about paying the annual fees in my next statement.
She said that if a Platinum cardholder able to spend more than RM36K perannum, then the annual fees will be waived automatically. If below RM36K, then the cardholder needs to call the CS to waive it manually.
So I will call again after I have received my statement and see how it goes! hmm.gif
*
When I called to cancel earlier, the retention team called back and offered me 2 years free AF.
Anyway, I still proceeded to cancel it. I just got the card this May. blush.gif
