Hi all, let's just discuss anything about the Peugeot 208 here. Regardless a owner or not (i am one proud owner though), kindly share your thoughts or questions here.

Let me just start by sharing my thoughts after driving the car for merely 2 weeks now:

- yes, the car is a little jerky when changing gear, by a little i mean it's noticeable if you pay attention
- i've gotten so much compliments for the car (can't say i'm not happy)
- the glove box is indeed quite useless, so does the design of the armrest
- the air condition for the glove box is quite cool but redundant
- yes, it is a really fun car to drive, handling is there too!

However there is an issue that i am currently facing here:

- the fuel consumption so far is considerably high, got the car from the Salesman with a full tank but the full tank didn't even last me for a week. Achieved only around 350+km when the indicator is reaching near the red lines

- also according to the driver's manual, the car has this 'stop start' technology where the engine will stop during traffic jam (when your car isn't moving) or while waiting for red light. The ECO light will turn on for a while when it's activated, but i don't see it??

- whatever it is, i am really worried about the fuel consumption. it's ridiculous to have a car that last me less than 400km for 50litres of fuel
will update again soon. Hope to hear from you guys!

happy midweek.
cheers,
Wil

Fair enough. So what car are you suggesting for the same type of car? Give us numbers.

2months to go.. hopefully can get by August. ..

Anyone go for 1000km service? Or everyone just follow the 10000km interval even for first time?
2500km = Inspection

10000km = 1st service

Wait patiently guys for your car =D

fuel consumption before running in the engine will be very bad...if you drive frugally for the first 5K KM, you will notice better fuel consumption...shouldn't be anything to worry about

Yeah it is true that Conti cars fuel consumption are not better than Jap cars...nor as popular... But that is because Conti cars are generally heavier but safety specs are better.... So depending on the buying on whether would he want to trade safety with fuel consumption

As for the popularity... I always view liking Conti cars as liking new age, or metal music. They are never popular or famous compared to Pop songs, however that does not mean they are lousier. In fact far from it...

I personally does not like to do the typical things... like buying jap cars or listen to pop songs.. Hence, conti cars are a go for me thumbup.gif

Hmmm....1000km means running at 100km for 10 hours. Let's say it does 5l/100km rolling on a dyno machine (which is VERY optimistic), that's 50l of fuel for each car, some cars don't even have petrol tanks that large.

OK, fuel costs notwithstanding, Let's say a single factory produces a conservative figure of 50,000 cars per year, that means the factory will produce roughly 137 cars per day. The factory runs 24 hours, so a single dyno can do 2 cars a day (10 hours per car), that means the factory will need to have 69 chassis dyno machines running 20 hours per day to meet the production demand.

FYI, cars are only ran briefly on the rollers to max RPM with gear changes to make sure the drivetrain is working properly. The engine is also dyno-ed separately before it is installed in the car. But these runs are a few minutes long at most, nowhere near 1000km.

I may know nuts about cars, but unlike you, I have common sense.

so assuming each car needs 4L of engine oil, does it mean they don't pour in engine oil to save cost too? whistling.gif
