how to make cheap international calls to someone using mobile phone in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh)?

unfortunately this country is not covered by most VoIP providers who provide unlimited call packages, including Skype.

thanks

If there is anyone with Asterisk experience who would like to pick up a bit of extra work, please let me know. It involves providing occasional troubleshooting and reconfiguration for a local company. PM me if interested.

http://backsla.sh/betamax for price comparison of Betamax VoIP services.

Try smslisto.com - about RM0.15/minute to Saudi landlines and RM0.45/min to handphones.

Those two are part of the betamax group I mentioned in the post directly above yours.

My experience with their services:

For calls to Europe and North America, fantastic.

For calls to Australian landlines, so-so. For calls to Australian handphones, crap.

For calls to Asia, lousy - because the latency ends up being so high that echo cancellation can't work and there is an annoying delay.

When I am traveling outside of Asia, I use it to call back to Malaysia and that works fine. Also I use it to make my European and US numbers ring on my Digi phone, and that works fine too. It's just Malaysia->Asia calls that suck.

Yes,some of the providers are from same company. However, they are using different brands and have their own pricing.

The list we provided definitely is not complete, and we welcome everybody tell us the other voip providers which we haven't cover it yet, so that we are gather a more details and completed list for everybody.

I appreciate your help and comments.

Hi all,

Wondering if anybody has use this item: Linksys SPA3000 in Malaysia?

user posted image

It has one FXS and FXO port.

The FXS port allows you to use a VoIP provider and FXO allows you to connect to local PSTN (eg. Telekom) land line
so that you can dial in and dial out (if you're overseas or have another VoIP box on the other side).

The thing I wasn't sure is if the FXO port (PSTN default is BellCore) standard is compatible with our Telekom land line.

The best price that I can get from Ebay is around RM200 (including shipping) to Malaysia plus I have to get my own power adapter (for 240v).

If anybody knows of better price or location to get this, please post or PM me.

Much appreciated!

Anyone has been using Android/iPhone apps on 3G to replace expansive digi/maxis/celcom for local and oversea call by subscribe to VOIP carrier like Pennytel (Australian co), Pfingo (Singapore Starhub JV), VoipStunt?

lets find out any possible way to use 3G voip to replace existing mobile line.

which voip provider u use that offers best rate to call malaysia?

Would such setup drain phone battery life too fast, is quality acceptable?

are there any traditional number available for incoming call? Has pennytel issued malaysia voip number already? those are the concerns, appreciate any good comments
