QUOTE(eddie_lim @ Oct 21 2014, 09:58 AM) What is your ultimate goal here? my previous setup was to use the SPA3000 as one of a SIP trunking for 03 number (because it is free) for my asterisk For asterisk, you can setup unlimited account (SIP extension, aka VOIP account) FYI, SPA3000 has only 1 FXO and 1 FXS port Hi eddie_lim, I have Maxis fibre and SPA3000 . Is that possible to replace maxis VOIP router with SPA3000 ? Thank you ..

Bumped into thi s thread when searching for info about VoIP and Hosted IP-PBX. It seems like this thread is losing its momentum, while VoIP technology is gaining its.
Anyway, I would like to share my own experience on VoIP, not so much on individual SIP account, but rather hosted IP-PBX Service that my boss has subscribed to 2 years ago.
My boss did away with on site traditional PABX to simplify the cabling work during the renovation (as a result of business expansion). He subscribed to hosted IP-PBX Service from a Malaysian voip company. The service just work perfectly on both IP phones and soft phones we installed on our laptop. We make a lot of out going calls everyday to our customers who are interested n our products. Our office is semi open concept, hence you will see some of us talking on soft phones on the floor, in tink tank room, laze around on cough etc. So far no problem with it.
I was so amused to see this when I came to work the first day, now I am one of them. Sometimes I can even make calls to customers from home with the service. But one thing I hate about it is, my boss is so proud of such decision that he made and always talks about it.
If you guys are interested and want to lookup for more info, this is their website. www.vioblue.com and emai add info@vioblue.com.
Don't ask me how much I get for the commission, I don't get anything, niff niff. Just share my experience with you guys and hopefully will bring live to this thread again which may benefit more other people including myself.

Getting Started

Guys, is it possible to run a SIP client like X-lite on Unifi? I've got X-Lite installed on my laptop and a OnSIP account, but I can't seem to connect.
Checked port 5060 at CanYouSeeMe.org and it seems to be closed. Any idea how to open this, or if anyone has been successful in connecting a SIP client?

our new office block is coming up, and TM just told us they no longer provide any copper phone lines to new premise, all will be fiber VoIP based since I'm kinda a VoIP noob, our contractor told us to get an IP PABX to connect to TM's SIP something like that, issit? then I saw online there's something like cloud PBX? where no hardware required on premise? means if I subscribe to the cloud PBX, i don't need the TM's SIP package anymore? or I still need but no longer need a PBX on premise?

How would i go about linking my Android Phone (Soft Phone - Link) to the SPA3000 to call out of the TM VoIP through the FXO port (RJ11) that i connected from the SPA3000 to the Modem. Is this possible, just a soft phone, SPA 3000 and the Unifi VOIP? How do i go about the settings? Without any PBX software, SIP Service, SIP Proxy.
