huh? m2 ssd cannot use as os?
in b4, no experience with them.

According to Devour & this other guy, where the M.2 connector is not installed on the Malaysia Y510P so we can't install a M.2 SSD on our own.

This link has better photos & description.

Anyone here in Malaysia seen a M.2 connector on their Y510P?

how many msata slots in y510p ?
*
No MSATA slots. There is a M.2 NGFF slot but no connector installed so it's not useable either. Hopefully next batch will have a M.2 connector installed.

Could someone post a photo on how the new Lenovo bag looks like with the laptop inside? YTlay has posted one in message #1 but it doesn't show how the laptop looks like inside & whether it's roomy enough.
Also, if anyone has managed to get a local Y510P with a M.2 NGFF connector installed, please post a photo.

Thanks.

Local set Y510p basic model ETA around 2nd week of Oct according to reseller. Better wait for official local set with 2 yrs warranty for peace of mind  thumbup.gif  rather than rush to US set (AP set) with no warranty support and all headache.  sweat.gif

Bro ajul, u are selling US set(AP set) with no warranty support locally, mind to tell us how u help ur clients with AP set when local service centre rejected their major warranty claims for 1 to 1 replacement?  icon_question.gif
Are u leaving them alone and helpless?  sweat.gif

Read post#4 for major warranty claims issues for US set (AP set).  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

If you're in Penang, you can look up the Gadgetzone at Prangin Mall. The still have a Y510P SLI on display. I saw it last Saturday. If you do get a Y510P, do get a cooling pad as the laptop runs a little hot. The top left side of the keyboard felt too warm.
Anyone here with a Y510P & cooling pad care to comment on if a cooling pad helps?

im using notepal u3 + additional fan on my y510p, but seems not very effective, temp goes to 80c-90c when in games,

Hi storyteller & AD,
Yup, that is my gripe with the Y510P. Spec wise it's great, except for the lack of the M.2 NGFF connector. & the fact that even the display unit at Gadgetzone felt a little too warm to touch. & this was with no demanding graphics, only a stationary picture on screen.
If there is a way to get the laptop to run a lot cooler (I don't need a palm warmer) & get the M.2 connector installed, I'd jump at this laptop.
Timkai Lenovo, timkai?

laptop unlike desktop can change GPU as you like. so you stuck as what you purchase

Most laptops, yes, but some can change. For example, the illegear RS series. But more expensive.

Current Y510p cant install mSATA SSD or m.2 NGFF SSD.
u can only install normal 2.5" SATA SSD in HDD bay. Replace DVDrom with HDD in 9.5mm compatible caddy bay (ie. JEYI H123 model) from skycrawler.  use DVD rom as external drive.  smile.gif

Some ppl with the same problem (no M.2 NGFF connector installed on the motherboard), have suggested installing a connector on their own.
Here's the link.

I've asked Lenovo again about this & still haven't gotten a reply yet either. Anyone here tried installing the connector on their own?

Just saw a 510P at Gadgetzone Prangin Mall. Single GPU. SLI version out of stock.
I think PITH at Komtar has the SLI version in stock.

Stock are same GT750M and also no M.2 port also

Nice. Too bad no M.2 ports installed. Is it possible for us to install on our own if we can get the connector & solder it on to the board?
