Aiyoh!! pls do more homework before you ask. JR Pass cannot be purchase in Japan because it is solely for tourist. Even Japanese living in Japan are not entitle for JR Pass. They have different type of pass & u must know which one suit your trip. You must buy in the country where you residing. Buy from their appointed agency. In Malaysia so many agent selling JR Pass. You can get it from Japan Travel Bureau. They have office in KL and Penang.
7 days Japan Rail Pass for the whole Japan is JPY28,300. 1 Day JR West Rail Pass for Kansai area is JPY2000. 5 days JR East Rail Pass is JPY20,000. So you must know how many days you will be staying in Japan & which area.
Hikari are the 2nd fastest train after Nozomi. The difference between Hikari & Kodama are the Hikari are faster than Kodama & also less stop whereas Kodama got several stop along the way.
Alright...Thanks for your information

. I try to search the information about transportation but too complicated
My girlfriends plan after arrive to Osaka direct take bullet train direct to Tokyo. From Tokyo start point play until Osaka end point total stay 7 days. I personally think that 7 days JR pass because can use unlimited ride just have some exceptions.
-Can't take Nozomi trains
-Can't take Mizuho trains
-JR trains using non-JR tracks
-Night trains, are not fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass
-The pass is not valid on any highway buses
correct me if I'm wrong
