Last minute train is also considered rush hours. There are still many peoples on the street at late night especially in Shinjuku & Shibuya area. Tokyo city is always super crowded. tongue.gif

gonna be headed down to Osaka in November, and was wondering if there are any tourist passes for transportation, namely for the Osaka subway system?

will be headed out to kyoto, nara and kobe as well, but that is more with JR pass right? and i understand the JR pass doesn't work with subways. anyone can advice?

thanks

Are you going alone?
Do note that JR pass does not necessarily translate to instant savings if you don't plan your itinerary properly.

Sites like http://www.hyperdia.com/en/ will enlighten you on the rough cost for transportation. Calculate the cost of the places you intend to visit and compare with the JR pass price.

You may be surprised to find out that paying for individual tickets may be more economical.

Do more homework

Btw, Kansai region alot private train company. JR pass are very limited used in this region.

In Kansai all you need is another pass than JR pass. I won't tell you. You go figure out what pass most imporant in kansai.

I spent one night in Mt. Koya, stayed at Shojoshinin.

Fantastic experience. The cemetery is really peaceful and quiet, feels totally safe even at night, not like the cemeteries in Malaysia.

Food was great, even though it was all vegetarian.

Damn cold though, my kukujiao also become frozen.

Temperature outside was below freezing, temperature inside the temple around 3 degrees celcius.

Kerosene heater smelly like shit, and my shoes froze because they were left outside.

But so worth it. Really beautiful in winter.

I think it'll be too cold and dangerous to go hiking in winter. Temperature can drop very fast and people have died before.

You can visit mountain towns but hiking would be out.

If weather is bad the mountain activities will be closed. Same as current Hakone has been closed due to bad typhoon coming.....you only allow at Gora city only. Wind is too strong, Cable car shutdown so journey to Owakudani is closed.....Fuji moutain view closed

Wah damn nice yo... I hope I can get the same good experience...Did you stay in the temple? If yes which temple did you choose?
---Opps... Just realized you have mentioned shojoshinin...my bad...---
Initially I was torned between Eko-in or Fukuchi-in but in the end chose Eko-in due to the cheaper price lol... Fukuchi-in seems to have very nice garden.... hope I wont regret choosing Eko-in ..haha
