hi guys, on this 16 i will be travelling to tokyo,Japan for a week but since this is the first time i travel to a non-muslim country i am really unsecured about halal food.

I am travelling on a limited budget so what are my food option in Tokyo? eat maggie only? as there are Halal restaurant in Tokyo but it's expensive as hell.

Furthermore what type of food can i get from the convenience store which is Halal? Is Onigiri halal?

Hope someone could give me some guidance here.

Thanks in advance.

DisneySea or disneyland need 1 whole day each. Around Rm250. Go early morning before 8am to queue up. Universal studio is at osaka. There are a lot itinerary in the forum. Just search keyword Itinerary below this thread or read first page for reference

I am travelling to Japan for 2 weeks with my husband starting on 18/10/13. I am muslim too but why I am not worried about halal food because if you can't find halal restaurant, you can either choose vegetarian food or seafood. Simple solution. On another note, you can bring canned food from Malaysia.

Thanks bro..

by the way on 16th and 17th i will be inyokohama for a conference. I would need some advice here.

i have already booked my hotel at tokyo for last 3 days.

on 18th and 19 i still did not book a hotel.

Is it worth for me to travel to kyoto and stay 2 nights there?how much is the fares and how long does it takes to go there from yokohama.

Since i will be in tokyo for 3 days.. i would like to see some nature parks.. still undecided nikko or kyoto.

True -- for 1000yen can get glorious fresh seafood and rice. biggrin.gif

Anyway, last Dec we were walking around Tokyo and spotted 2 halal eateries (Indian and kebab):
- Siddique Halal Indian Pakistani at N35.702045 E139.771912
- Nasco Kebab at N35.702072 E139.699738

Keep a keen eye when walking -- you are bound to spot them and others.

Thanks bro..

i think i will drop the plan to kyoto and instead i will go to Nikko.

I found this on the web on how to go to nikko from yokohama

http://www.nikko-jp.org/english/access/train.html

What is the difference between the JR LinEast and the Tobu Line?
It cost about 3300 yen ( per person from yohohama to Nikko ) and 2500 from Nikko to asakusa(where i will be staying in tokyo) which is ok for me.

Anybody here can recommend me a nice cheap guesthouse/ hotel in nikko for 2 night? where me and my wife could stay in? i googled and could not find a reasonable one.

Need some help me thanks. smile.gif

On how to goto Nikko already posted on pg1. There are package deal by Tobu line going there and a dedicated station just beside the river cruise terminal direct to Nikko from Asakusa.

Depending on you. If you want to visit just Nikko -Shogun shrine & temples, day trip will do but if you want to enjoy some of the best Onsen/ hot spring, can stay overnite. For me due to the time constraint, I choose only day trip. Nothing is cheap in Nikko. Even the ramen/Udon soup per bowl already 1000yen biggrin.gif

Hi all,

Need a bit of advice. Will be going to Japan in early November.

Will be exploring Gifu area this time. Have made arrangements for Takayama and Shirakawa go. Will be staying in a Gassho in shirakawago.

However, am trying to find lodging (especially Maruhachi Ryokan) in Maze village but there doesn't seem to be any links that I can book via the web. My last resort would be to call direct to book but it's tough because of the language barrier.

Hope somebody here who might have been there can advise.

Thanks very much.
*
Finally managed to book a night in Maze via a very helpful officer in Gero city tourist information centre. Very nice lady helped to call the ryokan and even arranged for pick up at Gero city station. Will be enjoying Japanese 'ulam' and sweet fish Ayu in the ryokan for dinner. Can't wait....

Also will get something from here for the lady officer at the information centre. She has truly made the trip more joyful.
