Hi all,
Need a bit of advice. Will be going to Japan in early November.
Will be exploring Gifu area this time. Have made arrangements for Takayama and Shirakawa go. Will be staying in a Gassho in shirakawago.
However, am trying to find lodging (especially Maruhachi Ryokan) in Maze village but there doesn't seem to be any links that I can book via the web. My last resort would be to call direct to book but it's tough because of the language barrier.
Hope somebody here who might have been there can advise.
Thanks very much.

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Sep 23 2013, 02:33 PM) No body here want try Japan Express bus services? Cheaper alot but take longer duration. Recommended taking night time for those want skip hotel fees. Just like taking sleeper night train...depart at Night reach at morning 6am My Personal Recomemded are: Willer Express (Top Choice) [[ Super Comfortable Seat]] & JR Express (Cover by Jr Rail Pass) [[Seat normal as Malaysia]] Tokyo <> Osaka just 3800 Yen by Willer Express Took Willer Express from Tokyo to Osaka. Board in Shinjuku and alighted at Namba Station Osaka. It was an overnight trip, very comfortable, drivers were very courteous and spoke to each other by whispering. Very good experience compared with our local express buses. Best of all, saved on one night of hotel accomodation.

Finally managed to book a night in Maze via a very helpful officer in Gero city tourist information centre. Very nice lady helped to call the ryokan and even arranged for pick up at Gero city station. Will be enjoying Japanese 'ulam' and sweet fish Ayu in the ryokan for dinner. Can't wait.... Also will get something from here for the lady officer at the information centre. She has truly made the trip more joyful.

QUOTE(torres09 @ Nov 23 2013, 06:04 PM) My advice is if u have big luggage, dont bother switching hotels. I made osaka my base for 7 nights and travelled to kyoto nara and hiroshima. I had JR pass so just use the trains to the max. I normally use courier service, namely, Yamato Ta Q Bin, to deliver my luggage from hotel to hotel. For example, from Kyoto, I would courier the bulk of my luggage to my hotel in Osaka and just only carry enough clothes for my in between trip to Shirakawago. The courier is very efficient and professional, they even wrapped my luggage bag fully in plastic to protect from rain. This post has been edited by kwai222: Nov 23 2013, 08:40 PM

QUOTE(torres09 @ Nov 23 2013, 11:50 PM) Is it the one with the black cat symbol? I have used it once during my biz trip, yes it ia very efficient. But since the question was from osaka to kyoto 2 days then back to osaka, my opinion is no need so troublesome as distance is not really far by train. Yep. Black cat carrying kitten, i think. Noted and agree with you, time frame wise. Cheers!

QUOTE(deodorant @ Nov 28 2013, 09:23 PM) if you're still there and looking to buy some men's wear, i adore the shirts at http://www.perfect-s.com/ ... they're actually pretty competitively priced and the quality is nice! G.u., an offshoot of Uniqlo, albeit, cheaper than Uniqlo, is quite a bargain. Example, a pair of skinny denim jeans is 1490-1990 yen.

QUOTE(David Moyes @ Dec 22 2013, 07:52 PM) Please re-read my post to understand the problem. And I did not ask any question. And if i did, i rather anybody not to reply ,if its "do your homework" I'm with you on this as it can be quite a put-off. However, there are situations when the questions like - I'm going to Japan next January, recommend me some hotels- where statements like that would be most apt.
