grabbed it just now here in Kangar... just a bit below from RRP but I saved the risk of damage during shipping/courier...

Thanks for the suggestion...

I dont deny that the Nexus7 is a superior tablet, but the price may be a put off for some, me including.
What screen size are you looking at? 8" ?

If you want an 8" model, get a tablet that has a Rockchip processor. Avoid the Actions ATM7029 or the Allwinnder A31.

Here's an earlier comparison I made

Ainol Novo 8 Dream Vido N80 RK Onda V813 Ramos W13PRO
8 inch 1024x768 8 inch 1024x768 8 inch 1024x768 8 inch 1024x600

Vivante GC1000 GPU Mali 400 GPU PowerVR SGX544 MP2 GPU Mali 400 GPU
1GB DDR3 2GB DDR3 2GB DDR3 1GB DDR3

Ya, avoid Ainol's products. Lousy quality. That's from personal xperience. My ainol is still in the workshop. The usb port "rosak" just after 21 days. And it's not covered by warranty.

No front speakers like the Lenovo A1000

No aluminum sides like the HP Slate 7

No 1920x1200 display like the 2013 Nexus 7

No KitKat 4.4 like the 2013 Nexus

Original cases are almost impossible to find locally

But other than that, it's very good value for money biggrin.gif

No front speakers like the Lenovo A1000 - Will be using IEM for most of time. No problem here.

No aluminum sides like the HP Slate 7  - Other than for aesthetic, I see no significant advantage over this.

No 1920x1200 display like the 2013 Nexus 7 - This is premium feat.. For the cheap price offered its understandable.

No KitKat 4.4 like the 2013 Nexus - Some guys on xda might do something with this  biggrin.gif

Original cases are almost impossible to find locally - I can always source it from mainland  whistling.gif

Fonepad got call feature... Do you need to make calls? If not its just a useless feature if you dont intend to use it.

Performance wise, i'd say both are about the same.

beside tablet, I was planning to replace my old phone too as to tether with it. If there is option to get both in 1 device why not? tongue.gif

But then I will miss the quadcore experience, plus Im going to hate the fact that I have to carry it everywhere while being unable to fit it in pocket doh.gif

but if I take HD7, sooner or later I will likely to get new high end phone.. then the tablet will mostly be forgotten sweat.gif

this... quite troublesome esp when you're a traditional guy who go around with empty hands without handbag/menbag(whatever they call that)

what is the recommended tablet for 8-9 inch, good screen, not sluggish, good battery life, and expandable memory?

this tablet will mostly use for surfing, video, and reading book.. price range below 1.5k.. trying to avoid china brand like ainol, vivo, and etc.. cos ady got bad experience before this..

currently in my mind: asus memopad 8, lg gpad 8.3

any other suggestion? thanks.

Just recalled

the biggest issue with the Memo Pad HD7 is the lack of USB-OTG support
