Has anyone been to the Tirtha Chapel@Uluwatu - would like to know if we can enter/visit the place for free, or is there a fee to be paid?

Hi dear veteran bali travellers,

I'm planning to stay at Dura Villas Pool Villa at North Kuta for 3D2N for honeymoon sometimes on November. From what I read on this thread, it will take at least 5 days to really experience Bali as a whole.

Thus, I really need advices on:

1. suggestion on tentative for this 3D2N that will cover the must see/do activities in Bali. My budget is RM3K++. I am a beach, nature, scenery person. I can skip the night life in Bali (bars, drinking pub etc). Cultural thingy would be nice too.

2. I'm a muslim. Halal food easy to get? Since all I read is about babi guling and pork ribs hehe

3.Best driver/supir? I'm confused which is the best driver recommended in this thread. Looks like some get good drivers and some get bad drivers although they are from same agency.

4. How's weather around November?

Thank you for advice bros.

Sharing some of my views. The rest are quite standard and have been mentioned a lot of times here.

1. Tegal Sari: Managed to book the paddy view room 3 months ahead BUT it was after the harvesting season when i was there so nothing so see. Make sure you plan your trip well if you want to wake up to a scenic paddy view. They offer complimentary transportation service to Ubud town and charges apply if it's out of their complimentary area.

2. Naughty Nuri's: Can skip Ubud outlet as the one in Keborokan is more happening and seems to taste better.

3. Cuca Flavour: Indonesian Spanish cuisine in Jimbaran where each person (ideally) orders 3 dishes and the idea is meant for sharing. The dishes are in very small portion. It's a very good dining atmosphere to enjoy your wine and dinner slowly, accompanied by beautiful light music. I especially love their Sun-Gria cocktail. The price will be a little on the high side based on Bali standard.

4. Warung Menega: Seafood restaurant in Jimbaran which is much better than Lia Cafe. They serve fresher seafood and you get to choose your seafood while ordering. I see a lot of locals do eat here as well. It is located right across Le Meridien.

5. Blue Point Cafe: This is the most rip off cafe ever. Rp121k (incl. GST) for a cup of coffee and a small cake. They claimed they only have this afternoon tea set. And the man who served us is snobbish and looked arrogant. We were here just for the sake of the church. The guard will not let your car in if you do not spend in their cafe first. Make sure you ask if the church is open for viewing before that. We were lucky having to manage take pics of the church before it was barred from entering in preparation for a private event.

6. Outlets: Get your Billabong, Roxy, Quiksilver etc. apparel/bags/slippers at a discounted price. There are a lot along Jl. Sunset or Kuta area.

My driver charged Rp400k/day. He's a very happening fast & furious guy and doesn't mind to bring you to clubbing spots or even club with you but he speaks limited English and can understand/speak our Bahasa. But bear in mind his job is to drive you around or recommend you places so don't expect a tour guide standard that is able to tell you historical stories of the cultural places. Interested can PM me.

Ladies who are worried of becoming tanned please bring umbrellas along. The sun in Bali not kidding one. And also bring your own shawl/sarung to enter temples if you do mind to wear those they provide.

You might want to consider to visit just 1 beach on your 2nd day? Can focus on Tanjong Benoa if your aim is to play water sports. They will surely open cut throat prices make sure you bargain first. I would think the rest of the places are quite standard for a typical Bali trip. But since you are checking into a villa, wouldn't you want to spend some quality time to enjoy your stay rather than going out early and come back late night everyday?

I think I want to skip water sport activities because my waifu don't play watersport so it's boring to play alone sad.gif You have any idea what places to visit to replace that?

You have a valid point about staying in a villa. I'll ask my driver to cut down some places and get back early. biggrin.gif
