Anime Figures (アニメのフィギュア）
Figure collecting and the otaku come hand in hand. In fact, figure collecting has been called the otaku’s “drug of choice.” The hobby as a whole can be quite overwhelming to the new comer with so many different brands, models, and sometimes outrageous prices. It can be a lot to take and at times will scare off those interested.

Why Collect Anime Figures?
Collecting as a hobby in general is nothing new. People collect all sorts of things, be it the classics like stamps and baseball cards or the more odd choices out there. Anime figure collecting can really be seen as a supplement to a love of anime and manga, because the characters portrayed in the figures are almost always from anime and manga. This is really where the appeal comes for many. Figures are a way to take your favorite characters off of the 2D screen or page and put them right in front of you. Individual figures can be appealing because of their detail, general style or mixture of both.

Just looking at my favourite characters in 3D makes me happy. I know they're not real and my dream of making them my real waifu won't come to anything, but sculpting them into 3D PVC brings them a step closer to me.

P.S: I want a 1/8 Kirino in wedding dress.

I have friends where parents dun allow figures because of these superstitions and fengshui excuses; one of them, any figure with 'dangerous pose' or looks like demon, cannot. So, Saber swinging sword also cannot, Dead Master also cannot... Im from chinese family practising buddhism and fengshui also there is no such bullsh!t..

My religion actually forbid keeping figurines (even if the figurines tutup aurat sekalipun), and my parents actually quite strict on this. So, how come I can still collect them? Because I don't live with my parents

My mum saw my x-rated figures, didnt say much; she only ask "You like big boobs ah?"

My mum say, why no pantsu? I told her manufacture's fault, not mine.

My mum saw my x-rated as well, but didn't comment much. Just say boobs too big will hunchback and call me not to collect too much x-rated ones. Actually I've talk with my parents before I started to collect. So they actually understands about this. And I've got my brother's kids at my home yo, my mum will help me to make sure no kids touches them coz I've told her that those things are not for kids and the painting materials are actually poisonous. And I've warn my brother also if their son become terencat akal or got poisoned by the figure's paintings, jangan salahkan saya yo~

Actually my parents are quite against this hobby of mine at the start, but after they knew that it is better than I use my $$ on cigarettes, Booze, gambling and find amoi. They really kinda accept it.

Now the only problem I face is peer pressure, most of my friends when they visit my room the first thing they'll say is: "You're pathetic, sure you're fap with all those things." That's kinda heavy insult for me. But I'll take it as they're jelly coz most of them got their pay at the start of the month but sucked dry by their GFs in just within 2~3 days time while I can still spend like a boss whole month.

Hmm, peer pressure is common. I will reply them like, "at least i fap to these figures, if i didnt have these i might have chosen your gf's photos to fap to instead". "Friends" who insult my hobby like that are not friends to me. Most of my friends only have nice things to say about such hobbies even though it might not be their hobby. Another common excuse by people - wasting money. If a girl can spend thousands on designer clothes and shoes, i dont see it as wasting money either, because it is HER MONEY, not mine; I dont have the right to tell her how to spend her money. If everyone thought the same way like you the toy and collectible industry wouldnt have existed.

Collecting PVC figures doesn't put anybody in a rich or poor position, its just like any other hobbies.
People collect rolexs, Lambo's even planes, that I call rich.

Next time I'll try to reply like that. Yeah, everybody have the rights to have a hobby they like. Some likes to collect stamps, some likes to collect sex toys or even panties. Though I don't interest in those but at least I won't go and have negative comments on them.

I changed hobby a few times already, started with Diecast cars, then anything related to Digimon, then Gunpla, and now scale figures. I still love Digimon even today, but Xros Wars just suck balls... Anything but Xros Wars... Savers was particularly nice except the final episode.

I also have a set of maid outfit in my closet, which is sure going to raise questions. I bought it for a girl in my campus anime club for an event.
Regarding hobby on pantsu, my avatar says it all...

I collect Fix Blades apart from Figures

Agree, they're plain jealous. Pity them, we've got something we love and can be happy with, they don't. I don't have this kind of issues, part of my friends also love anime, just that they don't have the dough to start collecting like me. The rest just accept my hobby and I do the usual stuff I do with them like fooling around, shopping and sports.

and yeah, collecting PVC = not rich in any ways wor. Small fries jer our spendings when seen in the larger scheme of things!

I have a few hobbies at the same time, reading, violin, cello, and collecting scale figures. Yeah, Digimon Xros sucks, didn't even bother to watch it. I liked Digimon Frontier.

That's nice, your campus even got anime club. Back in my time my campus does not have that, my Japanese teacher (A real old-styled Japanese guy survived WWII who still tied with the Bushidou thinking) really really despise Japanese anime. He ask us where are the main source we get in touch with Japanese language at the first class and when we answered Japanese anime, he said that is an insult. He even force us to watch the video of Noh dance (a kind of ancient dance) which makes me really fall asleep. I wonder why he'll act like this.

My other hobbies, if i combine with my figures (and i still have attachments to Gunpla), is Tennis (former state player), gadgets, photography, and i will add airguns in the future. Gawd, all my hobbies and interests also expensive ones. =.= Even 2 of my tennis rackets costs RM 999 and RM 499 respectively.

I dont have a DSLR yet despite my love for photography. What i have been doing for the past 2 years, is pushing the limit of what a phone's camera can achieve. This shot itself is taken with my Nokia Lumia 920, in my campus beside the sports complex, with slight post-processing on the brightness/midtone.

Nokia 920 good phone thinking of getting one?

Im happy with it so far; i jump ship to windows phone because it has no lags at all.
But, i recommend you wait for Nokia Lumia EOS lol, 41 MOTHERPIXELS. Various leaks appeared already. It's the successor of Nokia 808 PureView.
My previous phone was lagging like crap, then i preordered the Lumia 920 as an early bird and got it when it came out on launch day last December. If i could wait i would also waited another few months for this.

If you are not a fan of phones with humps, and prefer slim phones with aluminium build, then wait for Lumia 925 instead might be better.

Expensive hobby you've got. Can't afford it with my lil allowance. Can't really comment on the photo coz I'm not a photo freak, but that was pretty good for a phone camera.

That photo is one of the few better results i managed to achieve but i think i can make it better.
My allowance isnt much as well; but things like tennis rackets, buyjust once and it last years so it is fine. It is the string and balls that are expensive. I go for strings that cost RM 99 or 129 everytime i change; those are professional carbon fibre strings used by pro players.
Occasionally for such stuff like my tennis racket string change i do get help from my parents though.
