I have friends where parents dun allow figures because of these superstitions and fengshui excuses; one of them, any figure with 'dangerous pose' or looks like demon, cannot. So, Saber swinging sword also cannot, Dead Master also cannot...  doh.gif Im from chinese family practising buddhism and fengshui also there is no such bullsh!t..
*
Hahaha then actually there's only one solution.. move out from parents house tongue.gif

My religion actually forbid keeping figurines (even if the figurines tutup aurat sekalipun), and my parents actually quite strict on this. So, how come I can still collect them? Because I don't live with my parents whistling.gif

My mum saw my x-rated figures, didnt say much; she only ask "You like big boobs ah?"  rolleyes.gif

In my case, if my parents saw my collection, I can't imagine what they gonna do cry.gif Coz in addition of being forbidden in Islam, they are also expensive, which will enrage my parents since they are the type people who saves money alot

It's Orchid Seed we are talking about - that means a price surge after release and multiple sold outs, and the fact that this is a figure of Queen's Blade's Alleyne increases the risk of price surge further. Most Alleyne figures including the one by Megahouse have gone rare. I dont want to take chances when it comes to Orchid Seed - it will never enter a bargain bin.

This Alleyne is 12,000yen, not including shipping. Im expecting to pay RM 500-550 for her, depends how the exchange rate ends up next year. Too early to predict the price.
*
Haha some Orchid Seed stuff did enter bargain bin tongue.gif Anyway that alleyne is less than 10k yen at amiami http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIG-MOE-9271 If the exchange rate maintains till end this year, most probably she will be below RM 500. I have a shipment of 12,050 yen recently, and the shipping cost via EMS was 3600 yen (total was 15,650 yen). Converted to RM, it's RM 488.

The other thing that pissed me off from Hobby search they don't pack shit properly.
When I open the box and saw all the crease and dents all I can say was the f word.
Haven't bought any shit from them over a period of 4 years.
Those below I got from Hobby search. I end up getting doubles from ami ami to keep and those with F..Ked boxes I displayed them

This depends on postage handling. You use EMS?

Dear bros. question please. How many category are there in this hobby? So far what i roughly see are:

1. nendroids (tiny figurines..)
2. Figma (with articulation)
3. PVC statue
4. Hot Toys
5. Sculpture

Not touching nendroids and figma because they seems quite small and the articulation are too obvious. PVC and hot toys seems to be the rather porpular choice (presentable) And then there are sculpture (saw a shop in Curve specialized in this) Can anyone share their experience preferance on the above? Would be great to hear more from collectors on their experience in this hobby.
*
Actually figma is under small action figures category (which include SHF, Revoltech etc)
PVC statues and sculptures actually are under same category, which is static figurine
Hot Toys are actually under 1/6 action figures category (which also include the military action figure, medicom etc)

QUOTE(Poodlepaddly @ Jun 9 2013, 09:48 PM)
Well in a way, buying one statue a month is like installing a Viva already. Both cost RM300+ a month. Just trying to plan the route ahead so i dont end up having to selling everything away in future cause of lost interest.. Or like most of the sellers in garage because of wifey cannot tahan?  tongue.gif
*
Haha actually lost of interest cannot be planned one; once you lost the interest, whatever route you plan ahead will just go into the drain tongue.gif

My collection not godlike enuf tongue.gif ... And quite a few (3 or 4 of them) broken figures, like, the base peg. Fortunately they are old figures.
And i kinda regret i didnt keep their boxes in the past. My mum used to complain boxes, but now the total opposite - encourage me to keep boxes so that it is easier to move them if there is renovation in the future.
*
Hmm for now I actually pack them in big boxes whenever I move out

I have Reiko but not Saeki. Actually I prefer standing-posed figurines more since my display shelves lack horizontal space, but have ample vertical space

figures that take up a lot of space stays in box for me, like saeki, the GSC 1/7 Saber Lilies, Alter Vortigern, etc
At least the space taken up isnt doubled (by the box and figure separately).
*
Haha for me, no point buying the figure if it's gonna stay in the box most of the time tongue.gif

but unlike kajuma or exile_g ... they collect everythingsss.. hahahaha

Actually I do have some focus. My main focus right now are Queens Blade figures from Excellent Model line (Megahouse mostly, sometimes Hobby Japan). Then followed by either bikini-clad figurines or ecchi/hentai figurines. After that anything I think is nice (incl gunpla, figma, revoltechs, robot spirit etc).

Anything means everything lar for rich guys.  whistling.gif

Where got rich.. it's just how much of your salary you are willing to allocate for hobby only (mine used to be 45% last time, then after pay gone up, become 1/3 of monthly salary)

your collection is amazing ...
and i am still waiting for you to get married and how you gonna handle your collections later  laugh.gif
*
Hmm depends.. if I think I can't keep them anymore, most probably will just give the figures to people who can take care of them. Of course I'll try to find a wife who does not mind my hobby tongue.gif

Haha but on the condition that if you can't keep them anymore, must not sell them, but must give them to other people and apply same condition

QUOTE(orestes @ Jun 19 2013, 02:28 PM)
i think.. Danny Choo will win .. even if his photos are suck .. laugh.gif
*
I think Danny Choo not qualified to enter.. usually they will have condition like their staff, subsidiaries, partners (which Danny is one) not qualified to enter

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ Jun 19 2013, 02:45 PM)
Because they do a shit job on them... Not all but many of them. Sculpts are decent for some of them but ends up screwing up the paint job.
I did have their Touwa Erio and sold it shortly after. She's beautiful but the paintjob on her hair strands and uniform are uneven.

The Fault girls are higher tier figures, comparing to my Erio that i sold, it has ZERO faults, no issues with paint, sculpt, or QC-related problem. This figure alone gave me some confidence about them. Well, it's obvious, 10k+yen figure comparing to popular anime figures that typically go for 6800 to 7800yen...
*
Hmm the Fault girls are 1/6 though, and some more not loli characters. Hard to find 1/6 that is not loli character went to 6800~7800yen new

QUOTE(orestes @ Jun 19 2013, 03:00 PM)
yeah.. that reminds me .. sometimes ppl avoid figures that are too expensive on shipping.. especially those big boxes that can only go via EMS ..
i remember also that VN02 hatsune miku was in bargain bin for 3k+ yen only ..
*
Alaa if the thing you will treasure, extra cost from EMS wouldn't hurt whistling.gif

Go watch the anime called Manyuu Hikenchou and you'll understand why boobs/non-loli cost more. Both in real life and maybe already applies to figures.  tongue.gif  brows.gif
*
I mean new price.. not resale price tongue.gif The amount of material ot manufacture loli in swimsuit figures is less than non-loli one whistling.gif

Hmm anyone ever see their box? Planning to get one of them, but quite afraid about the packaging. I remember some Gigapulse figures don't explicitly shows the content inside, just non-ecchi illustration on the box
