early days .. most figures weer in 1/6 scales ...
the reduce scales started to happen when japanese yen rate rise like no tomorrow .. and production cost increase .. so we can see few companies made smaller scale figures, but maintain at 1/6 price range .. even their so called 1/6 or 1/8 scale didnt feel correct and look smaller than it should be ..
and at that time, you can only get most 1/6 as exclusive release .. at exclusive prices ..

^ 1/6, look at hottoys, bloody expensive. Although u have to consider extra factors like outfit/armor, joints, etc.
1/6 can also be oversized; Kotobukiya's Sakuya Crimson being the best example. 34cm up to sword handle. That means 30-31cm until head height. When hottoys male characters are 12 inch/30cm, and Sakuya is just as tall, it makes sakuya seem like a giant (for japanese females) which is an estimated 180cm or above in height. That figure is closer to 1/5.
Alter's 1/7 Nanoha girls are also quite oversized.
