cant dude. wprime temp will be hit the roof. 4.8ghz alreayd was hitting close to 80. Today because not so cold day and with aircond i dared.

I dare that guy lol to do it inside his casing etc of his rig.

but i will try to get sp32m. But cant beat him for sure. My 1st iteration was 4.240. His was 4.219

well he is running 5ghz on his cache @1.55v. Crazy fella.

I suspect his vccin to be around 2.1v-2.2v. to pull that off.

thats just balls of steel. I cant dude. Already commited on WCing whole rig with this cpu mainly the reason. if not 6k goes down the drain.

3 out of 3 4790k owners in this thread itself managed to OC up to 5.0GHz is a good sign. (Y)

a lot of things are changing on DC bro. I am not really trying to get 2666 C10 1t Stable on this cpu. Before always stuck at 2600 2t on 4770k@1.6v. All on tRDRD 4.

Take note i am running 4 ssd's + 2 HDD + 2 GPU Titan Blacks at the fastest PCIE preset + Creative Zx + Rams 2400 C9 4x4gb C9 1t, RTL 41,42 IOL 4 , tRDRD 4 ( All the rams settings were done manually to get optimum... skews, ic profile etc.. everything.. took me about 3 months to get the skews perfect)

IMC still 0.800 stock
CPU Analogue Voltage -.200 = 0.800v.
CPU Digital Voltage +0.100 = 1.1v ( still same as 4770k )

This is freaking new for me. Redefines DC imc strength. ohmy.gif

I wonder stasio
Have u tried running say really on stock with ure

??

i mean the digital/analogue i/o and system agent voltage.
how much difference is it from ure 4770k for ure 2933 rams.

so far testing on 2666.. stock still seems fine on 4x4gb.

Generally DC can expect 4.7ghz. 4.8ghz and above seems other things that pop up that is not vcore related.

So that part i will try to solve with more strenous cooling.

so now mem clocking ppl. Pentiums are doing 2800 C7's. and Msi Mpower z97 seems like a magic board with timings and efficiency.
The ram settings options on this board is insane.

So far for me i am doing 2600mhz-2666mhz 1t C10 tRDRD 4. issue with me is whenever i stress this.. like after a few minutes.. shutdown.
Still clueless as to what is shutting it down. tRDRD 5 no issue.

@cstkl1

I have the 4790k same batch with you. How to check the default VID?

Attached Image

CPU = 4.5ghz@1.23v (vdroop 1.248v), CACHE = 4.1ghz@1.2v (vdroop 1.217v)

Load optimized in bios. Save n restart
Enter back into bios
See what voltage ure cpu is running.

Nice. Oc. Btw ure cache is 4.3 on screenshot.
Perfect. Asus boards 1.3v above.. Hmm got issues.

1.047v vid shown in BIOS... is it lower mean better oc?
VRIN/VCCIN = cpu input voltage on maximus board?

manage to get same 4.5g prime stable with lower vcore, 1.22v (vdroop 1.32v during load), same cpu uncore.

Attached Image

DC 4790k is oc better than my previous 4670k. but frankly, the temperature still not good although with the improved version of TIM... might going to delid soon brows.gif

pretty sure u can do it lower @1.2v
run at manual for cpu and cache voltage

loadline level 8 (maximum)
set 1.2v for ure vcore.
disable SVID
disable CPU spectrum
set cpu VRM frequency 400
set dram VRM frequency 400
disable intel adaptive thermal monitor
enable dynamic storage accelarator ( works with c-states for ssd and u need to have RST installed and ure windows power config hdd sleep set to Never)

just tested just now a 4770k with z87 hero and 16gb 2400 C11 vengeance pro @ 4.5ghz 1.2v.
this is all u need.

the rest all on default is good

for better stabilty and more performance
in dram setting
set ure dram cas write latency based on ure SPD for ure Ram XMP
mrc fast boot disable
MCH full check enable
dram additional training enable
(cons if u shutdown ure computer computer completely. ure comp will restart twice. its to make sure all the ram timings are correct and doesnt always change )

additional
go to RTL
see what ure Channel A rtl is
set initial RTL +5 of that value
save and reboot and see whether u still get the same RTL for A/B and IOL
enter the rtl and iol values u see.

This will make ure ram/imc settings fixed and not flux on multi clocking etc... max performance.

Has anyone tried G3258 and MSI Z97 PC MATE combo?

Could you please share the overclocking results?

The MSI board is the cheapest Z97 6-phase mobo I could find on market tho.
