Guys, a question.. Im going to SG to check my accommodation. Is it cheaper to travel by car/train/flight from KL?

QUOTE(zephyrus9999 @ Aug 16 2013, 01:04 AM)
Ohh im heading there to check on accommodation for a day only, and hopefully can sign the contract on the spot.

You're being silly and putting unnecessary pressure on yourself to go for the FIRST room you see. What if it's a borderline crappy room cos it's dirty smelly far whatever? You might feel like aiya just sign la otherwise I wasted my entire trip coming down here for nothing and then end up f*cking yourself for a year. Just come down when you start work and stay with a friend/relative/budget hotel/backpacker lodge for a couple weeks and then slowly comfortably look for a better room IMO.

No need tax if flying back to Malaysia.

I thought no duty free allowance between SG and MY? Or does that limitation only apply to West Malaysia?

1. i looked through the property websites, is it possible to get studio/1br in sg with 850/monthly? dont mind walking for 20 min one way to mrt.

Not possible. Prices depend on location, but nowadays even fringe areas 2 bedroom HDB already 2k plus. At your budget you can only rent a room.

Ya I also need to know, How many year working in singapore than can only apply for PR ?

Typically people say EP should wait 1-2 years before applying.
QUOTE(Donchay @ Aug 21 2013, 12:33 PM)
Let me make myself clear, therefore for a Singapore foreigner to work in Singapore, they need to issue a job permit for me if they wanna hire me? Oh wai.....

The company needs to apply for a work pass with the ministry. if approved then only you can work in singapore. Those companies that say "Singaporean or PR only" don't want to go through this process of applying work pass for you.

let say when the work permit everything is approved, and when i want to resign my current company need 2 months of notice period, will it affect the work permit or IPA (need to be extended etc) in a way?

The IPA has a validity. I believe (can't remember) it is 6 months. So from the date the ministry issue the IPA you have 6 months time to come to SG and do the formalities (fingerprint, etc) to get your IPA converted to an actual Work Pass.

Whether the company wanna wait 1 week or 1 month or 5 months for you is a separate matter between you and them.

By the way, i heard that people with form 5 can get almost the same salary as the one with 1st class Bachelor degree in singapore, is this true?
Anybody can double confirm this?

Of course they can. Just like how Bill Gates is a college dropout yet earns way more than practically every other phd and masters holder. It's just a question of capability, as in are you an spm holder because you had some financial trouble or other factor that prevented you from furthering your studies? Or was it because you simply don't have the brain power to learn anything past spm?

just started my sg job hunt last week, sent resumes to plenty of accounting firms, so far no news, a bit disheartening, hopefully I'll get a call next week

Disheartened after 1 week? If you go through this thread, lots of people took months to get their first job offer.

Hey guys, I received a letter IRA, as I just began to work on August mean less than 183days, is that mean i will charge at non-resident rate of 15%?

Even if you do get charged 15% now (becos less than 183 days), after that once you work more than 6 months you can go see IRAS and reclassify yourself as resident and then they will calculate and refund back to you (but I dunno immediate refund or whether used as tax credit to offset your next filing or what).

Just wondering is that the BTT will be as hard as the driving test in Malaysia? If we fail for the first time, how long do we need to wait for the retest?

BTT is just theory, damn easy one, if you have been driving in Malaysia and converting and you can fail BTT that means your Malaysia license sure kopi one.

QUOTE(Tigerr @ Aug 27 2013, 09:57 PM)
hmm.gif or one PR with 3 years is sufficient??

No clue, it doesn't specify. I hope one PR with 3 years enough liao otherwise I have to wait even longer doh.gif

I PM you my SG agent phone number, you can whatsapp her I guess. Also Prudential one. Whether she is good or not I dunno, is just cos she is my childhood friend so now become my agent lol.
