Hi guys, I am new here. Want to ask where can I get LEGO train sets? Plan to create my own minicity. I need a set of train and tracks.

Planning to get 7938 or 10233. One set of train with tracks. But not planning to get all at one go. Prefer to build slowly and enjoy the process. Afterall, construction of a city takes years to complete  tongue.gif

Hi, like what the sifus have said earlier, you can still get 3677 at a 'decent' price so if it's to your liking you should aim for that first. Not everyone like the 3677, most prefer 7939 and 7938.

You will most likely end up with Power Functions so 7938 and 7939 will be a good start. 10233 doesn't come with Power Functions and will be funny when you have other trains zooming round the circuit and the 10233 needs to be pushed along... lol! You will need to consider adding Power Functions once you get 10233, that will come later but you should expect this to happen because you need it, not by choice...

10219 Maersk Train and 10194 Emerald Night are considered "exotic" now so if you want to save your wallet you should steer clear of them.... In fact, don't even look up those set numbers! You will seriously regret!!! First regret for looking, second regret for not buying them sooner, third regret for having to pay $$$ for them... Regret betul! doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif lol!

Jokes aside, there will always be newer trains to be released by Lego. Who knows, with both 10219 and 10194 retired and market in short supply of these two 'classics' there is a chance a new classic train will be released soon...

You're right, building a Lego City is a labour of love (my wife definitely do not share this view!:x) and frankly it will never be complete because it is ever changing with new buildings/features being added and dismantled... The fun and joy is really in the process of building. biggrin.gif

Congrats!  rclxms.gif  my first revisit Lego with 8110, took me 3 days, of about 3-4 hours each.
But for 7938 city theme, took me 1 hour only  laugh.gif  Technic need more time, and if particular about placing/twisting the pins slots to align in each beam.

Anyway, it's to enjoy the process, after all, we paid premium money for Lego.
Exact same table ?  hmm.gif
I'm wondering if bring back ... KLIA got tax for furniture ?
You know what's the weight ?

My luggage going HK was 13kg
Coming back was 22kg  sweat.gif Lucky flight has +3kg allowances.
Building instructions in my laptop bag (which was stuffed full and I think at least 7-9kg total)
9kg of pure Lego bricks inside luggage ...  sweat.gif

Ya, technic need more time especially for those large set nod.gif a lot of small parts and it build parts by parts then combine together
(example, 8109 is build middle motor part, then rear part, then the front part, then combine three parts together, then front colorful part and lastly the rear big flatbed part)

when i finish first 10-20 steps, I only realize that I'm taking the wrong parts at the beginning and luckily I found it early rather than finish the truck laugh.gif but definitely enjoy the build process... I even can't resist and play with the gears when the whole gearing parts is clear, and i learn that's how the motor make this and that move...

Just to share what i found out, the 8109 back four wheels part will lower a bit when the flatbed part is lower by motorised function...
this is quite surprise for me as I though only the flatbed part lower...

I don't think I have the financial capability and time to do this order, need volunteer to take over the lead for this one. Anyone?

Can I only have the volunteer(s) pm me, I really cannot undertake this bulk order as I have multiple shipments incoming... Based on the number of requests I get for this set achieving the minimum quantity is not a problem, more than 10 sets also possible if everyone who inquired confirm to buy.

chasing train is like chasing ships. very dangerous and very expensive. so I skipped the old ones. tongue.gif

The challenge is to control all 4 trains at once with 1 remote moving in 1 circuit. I tried with 3 once and i think can its a train accident waiting to happen... so to make the task easier, better to buy more tracks.. tongue.gif
*
I also skip all previous trains (pre-2008 ?). Start with about 3677 and RC (PF) series. Not 9V tracks.
I also skip those cartoonish trains like Toy Story train tongue.gif

But seriously, the stress on the motor will wear it out. I have not try it out yet, but I think one motor with 4-5 box-cars will start to stress it out, unless multi-engine train.

Ya, Technic is quite realistic and similiar very-light-engineering/mechanical stuff.
Quite impressive on how the designers think/plan those beams, connectors, etc.

I heard 10194 emerald night pieces falls off easily like the SD/SSD ? hmm.gif
