SHAH ALAM: Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) will submit design plans for a new alignment to the Damansara-Shah Alam Expressway (DASH) for the affected areas following objections raised by a group of residents in Damansara Perdana.
Selangor Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali (pix) said the move was taken after discussing with the Works Ministry, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and concessionaire Prolinatas in response to the protestations by the residents.
"I hope the federal government will take into account the residents' views on the last alignment of the highway, which passes through Damansara Perdana, LLM and Prolintas," he said.
Responding to a question by Sharif (BN-Dengkil) at the State Assembly sitting here yesterday, he said Prolintas has submitted a new alignment for the last phase of the highway to the residents and stakeholders for their feedback.
On February 10, last year, the state government through the State Planning Committee confirmed the entry line to the DASH highway was put into the Shah Alam Local Plan, Amendment 2, 2020 by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).
Those who objected were the Mutiara Damansara and Damansara Perdana residents known as the 'Say No To Dash' group (SNTD) who previously objected to the construction of the expressway on December 16, 2014.
They claimed that the expressway's alignment, according to its initial plan of construction, passed through three densely populated areas, namely Damansara Perdana, Kota Damansara and Mutiara Damansara.
Azmin (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa) has not made a stand against the construction of the DASH while LLM has yet to resolve issues between the developer and residents belonging to the SNTD.
It was reported yesterday that the state has never approved any other construction of highways.
Azmin had said the building of new highways in the state is not the absolute solution to solving traffic congestions and thus is looking at more sustainable ways of dealing with traffic congestion in the state.
One such way is the LRT3 project, which if finished by 2020, will ferry some 70,000 passengers a day from Bandar Utama to Jalan Johar.
