The suggested xeon above has almost the same spec/performance as i7, but lacking of intel quick sync, igp features. For more info, u can google both of them to see the comparisons in detail.
Yes, there's Haswell platform Xeon processor. http://ark.intel.com/products/75054/

I would definitely suggest Intel's over AMD for a such budget,tough.Furthermore :

- 750w is overkill for the setup.
- 27"?
- RM4.5k only using CM 430?

- Why 750w overkill the setup?
- He wants 27" monitor, maybe a lot of graphic rendering software, a lot of designers i met prefer big screen.
- Yeah, CM430 is enough. Here is the product page - http://www.coolermaster.com/product/Detail...-430-black.html

I suggest it because he wants to use AMD. All cores utilisation is a thing for future. http://macperformanceguide.com/Optimizing-Cores.html

Personally i would prefer Intel based on his preference. My suggestion is:

- Casing: CM Elite 430
- Mobo: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4770
- GPU: MSI GTX660 Twin Frozr
- RAM: Kingmax 1600Mhz 8GB x2
- PSU: Rosewill Capstone 750m
- SSD: Kingmax SSD 120GB
- HDD: WD 1TB
- CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212 X
- Case Fan: Cooler Master Silent 120mm x 4
- Monitor: Acer S1 27"

Total: 4550

When it comes in recommendation, usually i will suggest what's best in terms of price/performance.Not exactly what people wants. If they can get better,go for better..because in this case(recommending),i've assumed that they did not know what's best or what to choose..and that's why they're here..to ask..

QUOTE(noonies_naruto @ Aug 4 2013, 10:07 PM)
Hi there Cable707! been seeing a lot of ur input for other people nod.gif great to see u here.

Well, the 27" is because i really want to have a screen as big as the one that apple has. really syok mang.

actually, my budget is around 4k, but if can bring down, then a lot better.
thanks bro! I'd still prefer the 8 core over i7 just because of the core utilization.

I guess i dont need a ram which goes 1866 mhz huh..

do i really need to use a 700w PSU? cant i settle with a 500w sth? coz i want to cut cost wherever possible, but i do understand the importance of having the right PSU.

and as for the case, i believe the cm elite does not have cable management features? where cables can go thru an extra space at the side thru a cut out.

thank you for inputs mates, truly appreciate it  notworthy.gif

If you dun really mind with resolution, better buy a HDTV.I'm using Toshiba PowerTV as a monitor.. smile.gif cheap summore

Well, i respect your opinion. I'm not judging anyone, plus, this brother has a point why he wants 8 core. So let him decide.
*
I'm not judging people.I just wanna share my opinion on what's worth to get.Spending big money for something that not worth it is something that everybody will regret..and as far as i know,i didn't see any lack on picking Xeon or i7 over AMD's.Going 8 cores doesn't mean it'll be fast all rounder..

Just my 0.000002 cent.. wink.gif

Hello sifus , thanks for all the help before, but...

Before i set out and buy my rig im suddenly in a new dilemma...

1)should i really buy the reduced cost rig ive posted before or should i go with my original rig *the 4670k

2)the difference is around rm600 should i be so stingy about 600 ringgit or should i just spent it on what i originally want to get the satisfying feeling.. =.= ya know?

3)why do i want to cut the cost in the first place ? Well actually i have no problem with my budget heck i can even do a rm5k rig if i want to but my reasoning is that future proofing is impossible.Even if i buy the best now in 2-3years time it will just be obsolete.Furthermore the price to pay for futureproofing is exponentially unreasonable price-perf ratio.

I require sifus thought on this matters before i set out and buy my rig.

Im sorry that im asking other people to make decision for me but im sure sifus judgement is better as im just an unexperienced noob. =p
*
There's no future-proofing PC imo.Even a NASA's super computer needs a newegg sometimes.. tongue.gif

Anyway,5k rig is a good built. At least for 1-3 years of time.My previous PC (i3 2100 + HD6790) is still capable to play high demanding games (but with lower setting).

Just look at Crysis 3..It has killed the 'futureproof PC' word out of those highend 2011-2012 rig.. wink.gif we just don't know what'll comes later..

I'm interested in getting a rig with a budget of rm2-2.5k for just the CPU and max of rm3k inclusive of monitor, keyboard etc.
Occasional gaming but nothing with high graphic needs, heaviest usage will be occasional CAD and solidworks drawings. Otherwise just used for streaming videos/movies and regular online usage.
No particular brand in mind, as long as its reliable I'm fine with it.
Also if you can point me to a place or forumer to get it from that'll be great. I'm from kota kemuning/subang area but don't mind traveling to kl or nearby places.
Thanks.

ya around RM1800, but i'm comparing the spec that Dell offer with i5 but much lower spec GT620, and come with WIN8 as well.
so i3 + GTX650Ti is more practical for me compare to the Dell setup?
*
Dell's good at their services.Hassle-free.Got problems, call and they'll come. But their PCs almost can't be upgraded. You'll need a major overhauling if u wish to add or upgrade here & there. But DIY PCs has the flexibility which u can go further when u got more budget in future..

talked to a shop today and they recommend this setup for me
I5 4430
8GB Ram
SSD 60G for system
HDD 500G
GT620
total around RM1.9k

SSD but with GT620 will suit me more?
very very less gaming but running multitask program
*
Depends.Multitask done by the CPU.But if you install the program inside the SSD..it might helped a lot by shorten the loading time i guess..?

Dear Sifus, I have the following spec shortlisted and need comments if that sounds reasonable based on 3.5k budget,

Mainly use for internet trading purpose so has to be very stable, no lag and quiet for 24/7. No GPU required as I can live with the Intel graphic for the time being. Hopefully can last for at least 3 years and upgradeable to become gaming desktop.
