Yes. I think my pc should be capable to run vive or rift. So wmr also should work fine.

TBH, main purpose for buying vr headset is for media consumption, mainly 3d movies and vr porn.
I didn't plan to play any vr games, not much of a gamer.
Maybe some light gaming.

Is wmr a better choice than go for my purposes?
*
Way better to go with WMR. Go is just a mobile vr.

2.5k atm but import set. Wait for HTC launch here which should be this week. Maybe it will be cheaper. I'd probably wait another year for a new one

guys, right now, whats the most popular one between vive and rift? thinking of getting one to try get into some project. not sure which one is the better market. also from personal view, which one is better?
*
There is like pros and cons between both. Vive has better tracking, while rift has like better touch controls. Personally I'd go with the Vive, but it's pretty much personal preference. Go check out video comparison and what not and decide I guess.

been watching and reading quite a number of review, still cant decide until now. i guess unless i tried side by side, then i wont be able to decide which one is the best. now the only things that i can conclude is either to get the room tracking with vive or simple tracking with rift, although rift now support room tracking with additional sensor.
anybody here has both unit? hows the differences if you compare side by side?
*
Wear glasses or not?

Went to an Esport event at APU, beat saber competition organised by Kitamen.

Seems like Vive may not be a good VR for long hours public demo use.

The controller need to be charged, meaning halfway through they'll need to charge the controllers and the VR is basically unplayable until its charged.

So unless they have another pair of controller, can't use Vive for continuous long hours use. Unlike just swapping out used battery for Oculus Touch controllers.

Yet every vr place only using vive and none using Oculus, this includes all the theme park with vr and pretty much outside Malaysia. smile.gif

You know guys, I just wish VR HMD would be cheaper. Kinda still expensive. When a newer one comes out it will probably be more expensive. sad.gif

Also why I only stick with PSVR for now. And waiting for a new Vive or Oculus version of hmd if I want to jump on PC VR. Felt like getting a normal Vive or Oculus is a bit late, later might regret if a new one comes out soonish

yeah the VR Hmd makers are aware of this and are actually not making much money from selling these atm. Alot of cash are spend in encouraging VR app developers and trying to provide low cost VR hmd as well to increase the VR population. Its probably the reason why oculus and vive has not upgraded their HMD since 2016. htc did make the vive pro but says its prices for business used?

I suppose u could try the Windows mixed reality headsets. their not too expensive now. the cheapest with hand controller cost about RM1.2k. U gotta have a minimum PC with GTX 1080TI for gaming though
*
1.2k might as well just grab the Oculus, but Oculus is a no for me, since I need my glasses for VR stuff. 1080ti shouldn't be a problem, my current card atm. Tempted to get a Vive actually, but rather just wait for a while till a new one comes out. I probably won't play as much as I want still for VR content, I find it kinda troublesome.

Yeah Vive Pro is targeted for businesses. Like theme parks and all that. They probably trying to get all the current one's to upgrade. Most of the VR cafe I go in Japan also using Vive, so some might upgrade to the Pro I guess. For me definitely not an option laugh.gif

Maybe the newer Samsung Odyssey will be good, heard Samsung is going to release a newer version soon. WMR so far I think Odyssey is the best out of the rest, I tested it a bit and it's pretty nice compared to other WMR. You have any WMR?

If eye >100 power would need to wear glasses in vr.
Highly suggest to add lens protector too.
I have the Lenovo explorer. Similar fov as vive/rift with 110Deg. Its really sharp at the center but blurry at the periphery (in contrast to vive). Also ipd fix at 6.3cm.
Samsung odyssey plus is released but... Early review suggest some are not satisfied with the lens blur technique to reduce SDE.
Oculus is a stable choice for now. The company is doing well unlike htc (which is hemorrhaging cash now), compatible with steamvr, and accurate tracking. Lack of glass adjustability and lots of usb needed is probably its biggest weakness.
Btw i spoke to someone in rec room saying only certain region account can play rec room. Is that true?
*
Yeah HTC not looking well. My issues with Oculus is just that it's not friendly for those with glasses and I really need one if not blurry gila haha. If not I am Oculus already.

Rec room no issue for our region. Steam has it, and there is no issue. I tried both on PC and PSVR.

Nope, prefer using glasses, but I could consider hmm.gif
I'll just wait for a newer HMD for now. There is already a new Valve VR on the works it seems. https://www.roadtovr.com/report-new-valve-v...-leaked-images/

so so only compared to HoloLens.
Form factor is really bad.

Where u study master in AR?
*
So Hololens is better alright. Then no need to look into it as much since I've tested HoloLens.
MMU. Just doing some stuff related to design regarding AR.

You can read reviews online
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrq2akzdFq8
https://www.roadtovr.com/magic-leap-one-review/
etc..

For me I don't like the pocket PC form factor with cable tethered.
HoloLens is all in one.

Field of view - both of them are bad, Meta is much better and image quality is good too.
But Meta's SLAM tracking is bad.

Magic Leap controller is 6dof which is quite nice.
Magic Leap's hand tracking is bad, LeapMotion is much better.

MMU... FCM or FIT?
*
Just looking for personal feedbacks thanks.

FCM

Hi Guys, im planning to go into VR at this time, since it is end of 2018, there are older model with cheaper price and new model just launched, which do you think it is best suitable for me

I dont have beefy computer (gtx1060), guess Pimax and Vive pro is out of the question and they both are too expensive, i only use for casual and light gaming with my girlfriend and i wear spec, below are my option and price i found online

Oculus rift - RM2099 (No warranty)
HTV Vive - RM2500 (Used but still have long warranty)
PSVR - RM1500 (I have PS4)
Samsung Odyssey + - RM4000 (last saw in Shoppee, local seem dont have seller, but still too expensive)

Which do you think is more value for money?

Thanks guys
*
PSVR was only RM800 when I got mine, just the hmd. Already have the ps camera and move as well so didn't spend much.

For exclusive vr games I'd say PSVR is quite a sweet deal, bunch of great one's like Firewall Zero Hour, Astrobot which just won best vr game of the year at Game Awards 2018....Wipeout, Driveclub and GT Sports a full fledge vr racing game. Farpoint as well is pretty awesome for a space shooter game. Exclusive wise really hard to beat, Oculus exclusive doesn't even come close. For popular games on SteamVR they usually get released on PSVR as well, like Beat Saber for example.

The only edge the other have is more vr game, but aren't really that high quality AAA material vr games sadly, but still fun to have more vr games as an option to play.

You should do your own research, see what type of games libraries you would be more satisfied and etc. But it's probably best to wait for newer VR HMD to arrive. For a newer Rift, Vive and even the newer PSVR on the PS5.

Just noticed that you wear specs, I'd recommend PSVR for budget purpose because you don't really need those special lens for those who wear specs since the headroom is large. Oculus is a rip and will cost you more since you probably need special lens on it to play, and Vive has a little headroom for spec users but it's kinda hardly pressed still and very close to the lens, could scratch the lens.. still it depends on your spec frame I guess. Or you could wear contact lenses which is not a bad option if you plan to get a Rift or Vive.
