I just got my GPH2 and Encre Noire from bro ton3 smile.gif and a bunch of samples including MR ^^ thanks!

MR is surprisingly similar to one of my classic favorites, Mouchoir de Monsieur, minus the citrus top and the animalic notes. I still prefer MdM due to its classic structure as well as the animalic frills that gives it more depth and character.

Sharing is caring. Hope you enjoy them.

I first thought MR was FB worthy but after trying for the second time, I've changed my mind. It's RM700 for a 100ml (shipped) from Essenza, I would rather get Meharees.

SOTD - Incensed by SmellBent (sample)
Opening is little sharp and once it calms down, it's a nice smooth sweet vanilla over burning woods. Moderate projection and longevity on my skin. Good staying power on clothes but it stains.
*
I'm having incensed now, dont get vanilla much but the smell of teak is strong. Smells like licorice! (the wood!) reminds me a lot of Gucci Pour Homme 1 tho

SOTD/N - Dior Homme
After trying my sample of Bois d`Iris by Van Cleef & Arpels yesterday I'm craving for orris root today.
*
how does it compare to the iris in infusion d iris of prada? The best iris scent so far my nose has ever sniffed is still Chanel's Bois de Illes.

Dior and Leather fans rejoice!! There will be a new Exclusif coming soon!

QUOTE
I got an email from the Dior boutique, informing me that the new Cuir Cannage prive fragrance will be available in June.
The price of the prive is going up again from 170 to 190 dollars for the 100 ml. For the 250 ml bottles the price is going up from 270 to 295.

Here is the note description for Cuir Cannage:

Cuir Cannage notes : Leather accord that runs throughtout the fragrance and is initially freshened by notes of orange blossom, and softened by floral notes of rose, jasmin, and iris.

LOL! So many other leathers I haven't tried yet! I will def add this to my long list of must try!!!
SOTN: Guerlain Vetiver. Edward, was it you who said this smells like an old gentleman? I really love it! It's a clean and fresh Vetiver that can do no wrong. One day I will hunt down the vintage version!!! I must compare with Encre Noire because it seems similar but I enjoy this so much more!!! I love Vetiver!!!
*
That was my SOTD. It's a premiere workhorse scent for a guy. It's earthy vetiver with tobacco and nutmeg along with a citrus accent. Sharp and tart, yet oddly comforting and classy with the tonka base. Its one of my faves as well. In fact I love it so much that I finished a 125ML bottle and my new 100ml only has around 20% left.

I see (my) PAPHI, GPHII and Encre Noire  rclxms.gif

I'm still waiting for BBW to restock their 100ml of PAPHI.

SOTD - Wazamba by Parfum d`Empire (sample)
Opening is a little sharp with very nice resinous labdanum/amber but soon overpowers by smoky cypress+apple then dries down to Church incense. It's unique but a bit odd for my taste. It has moderate projection and good longevity on my skin.
*
hahha yes they (used) to be yours tongue.gif you could also buy retail tongue.gif

PAPHI has the same vibe as Guerlain Heritage so its a stand in haha

Curious! Which Guerlain is in the bee bottle and the other 2 Guerlains are? Do you have the older Guerlain Vetiver Joey? Before the silver cap?
*
The Bee Bottle is Mouchoir de Monsieur. I used to own the ribbed bottle for vetiver before i finished it. The difference is minimal. the ribbed bottle version has more citrus and less tobacco.

PS: decants available except for SDV and Black orchid. those are my treasures.

Ahhh, ok ok, never paid attention to the citrus/tobacco... will keep my nose tuned in to those next time... I see the 'vintage' edc selling for crazy prices on ebay... but so curious about how it actually smells 20 years ago! tongue.gif

if you go on BN you'll be turned into a vintage freak. many BNers claim that the reformulated versions are watered down but they forgot that perfumes do macerate over time. In BN the most common remark was that "the vintage version of Shalimar has this deep complex note that the modern version does not have" for example.

Dont go for vintages. Not worth the time and effort unless you're like those BN doods who can afford the whole range of Amouage's attars (that costs USD 1k for 7.5mls).

For those who care about leather, reviews for Dior's Cuir Cannage are coming in:

QUOTE

Cuir Cannage opens with the rootiest iris (akin to Iris Silver Mist) & starkest leather note (akin to Peau d'Espagne or a matured Cuir de Russe).
and here's a pic of the bottle:

well that actually is still imaginable, as it is a story of a murderer and i mean it make perfect sense to create a scent that nobody ever created, it just show how twisted a mind of a psychopath is in achieving something other's haven't before, still within the boundaries of my logical thoughts at least, but i mean the effect of the scent is ridiculous, up until that orgy part i thought it was a pretty legit movie, after that it sorta goes to fairy tale mode as far as i'm concern.

(p.s I have a mild suspicion that you can never really replicate the scent's from tat movie  tongue.gif )

SOTD: Amouage Interlude

Heavy sweet incense bomb. It does remind me of BBQ sauce but in a good way. Starts off with a sweet undertone that has oregano and a woody accent purportedly from burnt oud. It's to me a fragrance that is reminiscent of the night and the moon.

Question: Do you wear womens'  perfume ? If yes, state the fragrance
*
Yes.

I wear Mitsouko, L'heure Bleue, Black Orchid.

Mitsouko is butch tho. And it smells amazing for a 90+ year old scent still in production. In fact a lot of men wear that, along with Shalimar and no.5.

SOTD: Guerlain Coriolan

juniper, immortelle on a leather and chypre base. unique and masculine and almost niche like. Also a rare scent as well.
