need to ask as this thread is for members only.

i hv not tried this bob.

if u hv done the correct steps, u should find it.

sometimes, it takes a few seconds... be patient.
https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-install-bob-on-kodi/

be informed kodi is a free platform for enthusiasts to do all kinds of things.

there is no guarantee anything will work for sure.

repos/addons get obsolete, need new, tec.

u can also check kodi thread:

2) When playing 4k HDR mkv using himedia media player aspect ratio is wrong as always shown as full screen only
3) When using himedia media player sometimes (24 hz content and TV auto switch to 24hz mode) when using return key to exit the movie, Q10 lost video signal to TV, need to press one more time return key then sync back to tv at 4K@60hz GUI.
4) Using KODI 17, exit the app takes a very long time and sometimes stuck at exit screen. Need to off and on the unit.
Else it is giving excellent PQ.
Kindly advise.
Thanks

2. how big is this 4k HDR mkv file? there are some bs ones, a few gb's only, bad stuff.
3. are u using AVR, i.e. Q10pro->AVR->TV? if yes, what sequence u use to switch on and off?

Kodi - this thing has been there forever, not due to box but due to some crap in yr kodi build which happens over time as u add more stuff, play various links. to get rid of this, u need to keep kodi clean, i.e. use indigo addon/maintenance to regularly remove cache, obsolete addons and other dirt.

- the new 17.1 is really slow on exit. Kodi 16.x with many addons much faster to exit.
- new 17.1 native player also slows in playing big mkv files (20+ GB) from NAS. no issue when using Himedia media player using the same file to the same NAS.
BTW HDR like planet earth 2 fullscreen looks awesome on Samsung SUHD...
*
it's true kodi17.1 is heavier than 16.1
but acceptable to me, much the same with the same build on my other android5.1 device.

local playback incl nas with kodi... i still find it weird why people wanna do that when there is a superior native player!

planet earth2... yeah... i am about to test this 4k hd audio hevc file if it will work with SMB windows at 2.4ghz - my router is getting old! laugh.gif

- from 10Gb to 50GB plus
- I confirm not file problem cos when I use USB playback on Samsung HDR TV correct aspect ratio
You can actually see HDR UDH lit up on TV when HDR is detected and play
- Q10 pro direct to TV and coaxial to SPDIF as AVR does not support 4K HDR passthrough
- actually I referring watching 24hz mkv and Himedia and exit mid day by pressing remote return and HDMI lost signal detected by TV. If I press return 2nd time on remote Himedia syncs back to TV at 4k60hz.. I suspect autoswitch freq bug in himedia.
*
missed these comments for yours.

i have such files too, but have not had any aspect ratio issues so far.

as for the frame switching, it does not happen to me if i stay with native playback.

but it will switch if say i go from playback to kodi or some other app, which is to be expected.

i am using q10pro->4k avr->4k tv.

u probably want to try android7 firmware 2.0.1.

Thanks..nicety shipped the unit with 2.01..I have not installed any apps..apparently the HDR aspect ratio is a firmware bug...(see http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1682.0 )...new firmware coming in May to fix this and Kodi 17.x audio passthrough
*
i see... perhaps i haven't played too many HDR videos.

kodi audio pass through not fixed with 2.0.3, i believe.

if another new firmware coming in may, i will wait...

if we download the subtitle file and load it to play with our downloaded movies should not have the risk?
*
i would think if the sub u downloaded is infected, it can get to yr device when u play it.

however, it should be lower risk if u downloaded at pc since pc will have antivirus to block if it detects something wrong.

also, always get subs from more reputable sites like opensubs, subscene, addic7ed... and stick to the uploaders u r familiar with.

opensubs have said they have "sanitized", the rest... haven't read anything yet.

kodi says 17.2 have the fix; popcorntime.sh 2.9 is also fine according to the statement below.

QUOTE
The team behind PopcornTime.sh applied a fix several months ago after the researchers approached them, TorrentFreak is informed. The Popcorn Time team trusts their subtitle provider OpenSubtitles but says that it now sanitizes malicious subtitle files, also those that are added by users.

a word on IFLIX...

some changes are happening at iflix.

it no longer auto detect unifi customers for free subscription.

if yr iflix stopped working, u need to register - id, pw, email

go to settings, account, logout.

then register.

5 devices allowed.

works fine on q10pro.

new development causing kodi addons getting shut down.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/tech/kodi-add-ons-shut-down-10591513

we will have to wait n see what new ones may come out.

icdrama is also affected, 1.2.6 does not work well or work anymore.

however, u can use 1.2.6.1 for now:
https://aznhusband.github.io/

other than kodi, can explore popcorntime.se and terrariumtv for similar stuff.

just google.

firmware 2.04... my comments:

.. HDR aspect ratio problem fixed; plays correctly now.

.. wrapper:
- set on, very smooth now for local payback with kodi 17.3; dtshdma, ddtruehd works good.
- playing kodi online streams (just 2.0, audio pass thru not fixed) not affected by wrapper on or off.

.. native player:
- some subs skippping problem solved.
- subs time adjustment mirco stuttering fixed.
- expanded menu, more user control for imprex 2.0 engine settings.
- improved menu and user friendliness for subtitles, 2d/3d, auto frame switching settings.
- when used in say, terrarium or showbox, u can get better video quality output, diff language subs.
- info bar now shows more info, incl data stream rate.

to fix (nicety knows):
- local playback, using airmouse or wireless mouse, the ability to bring up the info bar by left click (to check length of video, FF, RWD by clicking on bar) no longer works. need to use remote OK to bring it up, can only FF or RWD using the arrow buttons.
- this applies to some apps too.
- previously any app or local playback, u can do that.

kodi, icdrama users, take note...

at this time, u need icdrama 1.3.0 and urlresolver 3.0.35 keep it working.

older versions may not work.

successor developer for icdrama kindly posted this in LYN kodi thread:

QUOTE(aznhusband @ Jul 15 2017, 12:00 PM)
aznhusband here:

Have a look at the base site: https://aznhusband.github.io.  I have urlresolver 3.0.35 available for download there.  In fact, if you simply install the repo addon, it'll be installed automatically.

another suggestion i have is, if u find china sites laggy, esp when using Unifi, try this:

go to playstore, find and install a free VPN e.g. Turbo VPN, activate it.

it may help improve the connection.

Hi,boss. I need media player for 4k tv, optical output 5.1 amp, watch movie from ext hdd source. about tv box, watch live channel from apk is smooth? Using how long to change channel?
Need your advice, thank you very much.
*
q10 pro will do nicely for you; it is an excellent player for local media playback, various video settings with imprex 2.0 engine, auto frame switching.

it has hdmi for tv... 4ktv... u will love the picture quality if you play big good files.

and u also get tv audio with hdmi.

it has coaxial and toslink for digital (dd/dts) output, can use either for yr old amp/avr.

if the file has dtshdma/ddtruehd/ddatmos/dtsx, the player will find the right audio or downgrade to core dd/dts for yr amp/avr.

How about Q5, same function as i need? Have you provide all live foc channel ,eg:- TVB channel, CCTV, fox, etc......?

on top of what nicety has explained...

.. it will take u time to learn, understand and get the max out of an android box which is not at all same as astro or hypptv boxes.
.. android boxes come in all shapes n sizes, some are cheap but poor in performance; some are pricier but capable of many things.
.. q10pro is among the best u can find now; q5pro is a small brother version - basically less storage memory, and w/o an internal HDD slot.
.. there are free apps, there are paid apps; there are reliable apps, there are unreliable apps.
.. if u know enough and find hard enough, there are some fairly reliable free apps/channels but will not be 100%.
.. the key to free apps is to have constant new app updates, and several in use so that there is enough to watch at any time.
.. nicety has a place for u to get them, so that is a great plus!

u started by saying u want to playback with HDD. for that, q5/q10pro will serve u well as the video n audio quality delivered is excellent, assuming u play good files.

i use q10pro a lot for playback of bluray, 4k, hd audio files with home theater, very good.

note: i m user, nicety is seller. i have been user of himedia boxes for 5 years now.

hi, is the q10 using high gain antenna ? cause my room quite far from modem with alot walls..

isn't HGA more relevant to wifi routers?

what router r u using?

if using router with HGA, that will help; poor routers like the orig unifi one will be a major bottleneck in the first place.

and how far, how many walls, what walls do u hv?

my experience with himedia boxes, asus HGA router, wifi streaming is acceptable up to 50ft, 2 concrete walls, no major metal structures in line of sight.

some people find it useful to use wifi repeaters or homeplugs.

i had no need for those so far.

im using asus RT-ac55uhp ,
tv is located in my room above my cpu, im too using a asus wifi receiver with high gain antenna which placed on my floor. my wifi signal strength is about 70~80% range. if placed on table i'l only getting 50-60% signal strength.

router(down stair at living room which is front of my house ) to my room(upstair most furthest back of the house) probably passing like 3-4 cemented red brick walls  sweat.gif
*
double storey house... if typical size, lower corner diagonal to upper corner is about 50ft, what i have.

not ideal but can still stream if incoming is stable.

brick walls are not a problem; metal structures are.

still, u won't know until u try.

i never had a need but if i had to, i will use another router as a repeater, placed in the middle.

anyone with a 4k tv can try this new youtube version on q10pro.

https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/yo...d-apk-download/

this v2.00.17 will give u 2160p or 4k videos on youtube.

it comes with a "stats for nerds" window for u to confirm it!

setback is the search function does not work.

note: if u install this version, it will overwrite the firmware youtube version.

If u dun like it, remove and reinstall original 1.3.11.
