i am not sure but i remembered IFLIX does not work on Q16.

IFLIX works on Q10pro.

get it from playstore.

IFLIX now has a very limited selection in HD - they are labeled "HD".

they come out fine on Q10pro, 720 quality, possibly due to the Imprex engine.

Try it!

Thank you bro. To fully utilise, you need 7.1 channels AV receiver and good media files with high quality audio and video such as DTS:X, Atmos, Dolby Vision and etc.

something i just read about HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

4k material not a lot, hdr10 material even less, Dolby Vision... some with Netflix, with a logo:

Dolby Vision is the "highest" - will need source, player and TV capable for that.

QUOTE
The main difference between Dolby Vision and HDR10 though, is the colour depth and brightness the content and equipment is capable of achieving. Dolby Vision content is mastered in up to 12-bit colour depth, compared to 10-bit of HDR10 (which is where HDR10 gets its name from). You may be wondering, what difference could 12-bit over 10-bit possibly make? Well, 12-bit colour depth gives access to over 68 billion colours, compared to just 1 billion with 10-bit. This means the colours you see from Dolby Vision films and on compatible TVs are going to be far more accurate and as the director intended.

In order to watch Dolby Vision content, you need to have the right equipment. The benefit of Dolby Vision TVs is that they can support HDR10 as well, but HDR10 TVs can't do Dolby Vision, so if you want the best of both worlds, Dolby Vision is the way to go.

i hv tested many video types with q10pro - excellent results.

for audio, atmos is quite common but dtsx is not.

hevc and 10 bit quite common but HDR10 and dolby vision is not easily available yet.

still, q10pro can deliver excellent results if u play good files with 4k tv and 4k pass thru AVR.

get the better files which are typically big - for 55 min tv show - 3gb 720p, 6gb 1080p and 13gb 4k.

2 hr movie will be like 66gb. biggrin.gif

q10po can handle all of them nicely, excellent colors and vibrancy on yr tv, dtshdma/ddtru hd audio. rclxms.gif

and i am certain the result with q10pro is better than its predecessor, q16.

Thanks AVFAN.  One week of Q10 and it's been great so far.
Still on an old TV LGLM7600 and Pioneer HTZ 818BD...which is getting old.

Now being poisoned by 4k tv and Dolby Vision.... any tips for a new set up. Probably 55 to 65 inches and a soundbar. Suggestions most welcome to help with my research!
*
to get more out of the q10pro, u definitely need a new tv! biggrin.gif

tvs... there is 4k, there is 4k hdr, there is 4k hdr dolby vision.
u gotta decide which one suit u best, prices can be very diff.
i will also suggest u get one with google androidtv - sony, sharp, philips only.
with that, u have a lighter android, good for simple apps and 4k video for youtube and netflix.
boxes can't do that becos of certification.
can read/ask here:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4164164/+120

soundbars are not the best for great audio. full 5.1/7.1 home theater will be much better.
check soundbars thoroughly... in that some cheap ones do not hv the capability to deliver good audio.
can't help u much as i never use them. can read/ask:

Thank you very much for your appreciation of Q10 Pro with the best of breed set top box chipset. Hisilicon, division under innovation company Huawei technology has been working closely with Dolby since 2015 to bring the Dolby Vision into Digital Home Communication.

http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/2015...olby-Vision-HDR

Although 4K Dolby Vision content still new, not easy to obtain at the moment but this future proof technology will come very soon and rapidly. It is the same when I bring in Q16 HEVC 4K two years ago, that time the 4K and HEVC content are not ready but today you can see HEVC and 4K content are available widely. With the recent firmware update to Android 7, Himedia made the right decision to provide further future proof product. Buyer has the chance to switch between Android 5 and Android 7 base on their needs.

it is surely better to be ahead rather than behind! rclxms.gif

i am not sure and has not done enough tests but i find q10pro kodi17 can stream kodi online hevc while q16 on kodi 16.1 cannot.

q16 can do local playback hevc; just cannot stream hevc online.

another device of mine, android 5.1 kodi 17, also cannot do hevc properly.

do u know if this has to do with the chipset, android version or kodi version?

HiMedia have informed us that the next Android 7 firmware is delayed until ~ end March due to more work being required from HiSilicon (Q5/Q10 Pro chipset manufacturer and HiMedia partner company).
We have requested a list of what will be fixed from HiMedia in this firmware and will update this thread when we have it.

meanwhile, i am pleased to find that with my upgraded unifi 50mbps, i can now stream up to 20gb (typically 1080p dtshdma) files on kodi/quasar with path set to the internal HDD.

this is very convenient! rclxms.gif

but it is not good enough since audio is only 2.0.

waiting for new firmware to fix the audio part to have hd audio passthrough or a new wrapper.

meanwhile, to get dtshdma from a file like that, need to wait for stream to complete, saved, then playback with himedia native player.

i finally pull the trigger to get this Q10 pro from nicety. i must say this is a HUGE upgrade from my Minix X8H especially on media playback. this box is just fantastic after go through so many hustle with nicety on setting up to play my media files from NAS. the PQ and Audio from this box is very very very good. i am one of the happy user here. i think i need to upgrade my TV and AVR to fully utilise the potential of the box tongue.gif
*
q10pro playback... i have yet to come across ONE file that it will not play properly! biggrin.gif

the imprex 2.0 engine is excellent, no doubt.

and if u think the PQ and AQ is great on yr current set up, wait till u upgrade to 4k tv, 4k AVR! thumbup.gif

initially having problems with playing media files. me and nicety still rectifying and try to confirm whats the issues. suspecting it have to do with wrapper.

not going to upgrade to 4k tv and avr so soon. wife will kill me   sweat.gif
*
Wrapper... I m curious...

Wrapper is not required if using native himedia player which i think is easier and faster.

I guess as a minix user, u r used to playback with kodi, so u need the wrapper, correct?

I tried the wrapper in kodi, works fine for local playback incl hd audio... but need to set the both q10pro and avr video and audio settings correctly.

If using old equipment, can be tricky...

About the wrapper, with current firmware 2.0.1, it works on kodi for local playback but it does not work with kodi17.1 online streams.

Without the wrapper, it can't do dts or dd, so kodi will give just 2.0 audio.

Waiting for new firmware to fix this... soon, i read.

Using Android 7 firmware 2.0.1 or Android 5.1 firmware 1.0.9:

With Kodi 16.1:
- All HD-Audio (e.g. 7.1 channel) from local sources (USB/SATA/Samba/NFS) using Kodi+wrapper.
- Up to 5.1 channel audio (DTS / AC3) from local sources (USB/SATA/Samba/NFS) using Kodi internal player.
- Up to 5.1 channel audio (DTS / AC3) from Kodi streaming add-ons using Kodi internal player.

With Kodi 17:
- All HD-Audio (e.g. 7.1 channel) from local sources (USB/SATA/Samba/NFS) using Kodi+wrapper.
- Only 2 channel audio from local sources (USB/SATA/Samba/NFS) using Kodi internal player.
- Only 2 channel audio from Kodi streaming add-ons using Kodi internal player.

The expectation is that the next Android 7 firmware will enable Kodi 17 7.1 HD-Audio passthrough using Kodi internal player, streaming and local.

Hi, anyone experience the following issue
- picture vibration issue after watch movie for 3hours + (I need to pause the video and back to home page for awhile.)
- Audio keep looping when changing the audio from 7.1 to 5.1. (.MKV)
- Sound don't sync (I believe is the source issue) but work fine using MX Player.
*
.. using native player or kodi player?
.. did u play with subtitle advance/delay option?
.. what audio system - tv, avr, soundbar?

yes agreed with u play directly in himedia player is faster and easier. losing out the nice display of the movie poster tongue.gif

yes im ex minix user (which i still use it - move to bedroom), and playback with kodi need the wrapper. but the wrapper indeed is giving many problems. the issues that i face is
1. i play with kodi using wrapper - himedia player. it will run fine. but after using wrapper in kodi, when u wanna watch with the native player directly no more sound. need to on off the player. then everything back to normal.
2. when using wrapper, and play media from pendrive, u cant quit. it will keep running and running and running and running. unless u press to home. and quit the whole apps.
3. im watching through my NAS server which also took me quite some time to setup with the help of nicety. he is so patience and help and guide me one by one. haha
4. im figuring out how to connect to LAN to my pc shared folder now. have the same issues when i want to connect to my NAS previously.  sweat.gif

The wrapper is a new feature, made for people like you who cannot live without the artwork. biggrin.gif

Me, i dont use it, dont want it, as i like my own listings, like it fast and easy!

The wrapper is not complete, i think.

The last time i tried with kodi,, it works fine doing local playback but crashes when used for online streams.

When that is fixed for kodi17, it will be nice as there will be himedia video and audio controls over a kodi stream... looking forward to that.

That feature is already working on popcorn time. In popcorn, if u set player to himedia player, u get all the native player features like subtitles download, advanced options like imprex engine picture quality adjustments.

-- soundbar (TV optical)

i hv played 6gb to 66 gb files and not experienced anything u mentioned!

maybe that file of yours bad, corrupted..? or all files like that?

what is interesting is this u said:

Audio keep looping when changing the audio from 7.1 to 5.1. (.MKV)

what file is this? how big? mkv or mt2s? hevc? 10 bit?

maybe the soundbar is causing trouble..?

using soundbar...
..how is it connected.. hdmi or optical or coaxial?
..how does 5.1 and 7.1 sound like.. i thought it's just 2.1?!

disconnect the soundbar, just q10pro->hdmi->tv, i.e. tv audio... play same file , see what happens.

nicety... maybe u hv some comment...

The strange is the launcher(home) screen is vibrated as well, therefore I eliminated network and NAS factors. For the moment my recommendation is to reformat the box via the recovery button to isolate if due to software or OS. Ideally iif could test where th another TV with different HDMI cable then will be able to isolate other factors as well.
*
ah yes... the tv can be an issue.

some smart tv's occasionally can't cope with certain input, will stutter, need reset... i hv seen that.

the file just 30GB+
all video play fine. It only happen after playing video more than 3 hours
Multi 2160p 4K UHD Bluray HEVC10 SDR Dolby Atmos 7.1. Inside have 5.1 audio also.

Optical to tv, q10Pro direct hdmi to TV
It just sound louder at 5.1. I am not talking about the effect. My question is why it loops?
May i know what is the different since I connect q10pro direct to the tv then optical send audio to sound bar?

*
unless the file u have is a short one, i doubt with such heavy specs it is as small as 30gb.
it should be >50gb, more likely 60-66gb.
hence, i suspect the ripping of that file is not well done.
u can try the same title but a diff rip, similar or bigger size and see if it is the same.
you can also get a diff similar specs file and try it, see if same problem occurs.

the audio part... i suspect the problem is coming from yr tv ARC.
for yr set up, it is better to have optical or coaxial audio output from q10pro direct to soundbar.
if u do tv optical back to soundbar, u are using the ARC function of the tv.
some devices do not work well with some tv ARC's and are known to cause problems.
also, tv ARC capability is typically not of high standard, may not cope with HD audio well - TV makers focus on video, not audio.

if u disconnect the soundbar, u isolate it.
then u can see if q10pro->tv hdmi video and audio eliminates a possible problem caused by soundbar and/or the tv ARC.

similarly, if u do q10pro audio->soundbar, audio is now independent of the TV.
so, if the audio loop problem persist, u know it has nothing to do with the tv or tv ARC.
if that solves the problem, u know yr tv ARC isn't good enough to handle HD audio.

bit by bit, u can narrow down the root cause(s)!

For the vibration part, it happen on the other file. And I believe is not the file issue, as when it happen. I pause and go to Home (launcher) it happen too.

Thanks for the explanation and advice. Will do the troubleshooting step by step. But first I will do a recovery first and see how thing works.

Thanks for the explanation and help

u mean yr nas app + himedia player was the culprit?

but nas app + nas native player ok?

ah well... that explains it... 3rd party app, nas... many more variables.

if he had said it earlier, i wud hv had some idea...

it's like some users complained about certain things with previous models... only later i realized they are using kodi to playback, not native player.

on that issue, i have played various files with kodi, mx, tv player, bluray player, q5ii, q16... none of them come close to the video quality offered by q10pro native player on a 4k tv.

just for that, i am happy enough. rclxms.gif

u gotta write clearer...

u do not have phoenix?

or u dun see phoenix?

kodi 17...

"movies" is not the right place to find phoenix (assuming installed) - that is for local playback, rss, etc.

it is under "addons".

take time to visit and read what kodi is.

it is a complex app.
