WiFi issue if you turn on Bluetooth. Similar to my 5470, same problem

I've got the 5840 dos. WiFi is good and running in Linux Ubuntu but when I switch to my ssd running w8 I can't even switch on the WiFi with fn+f2. Any solution is greatly appreciated. I've installed both dell quickset and 7465 driver

try reinstalling the driver from Dell Website. I had issues with on/off touchpad FN+ESC and Dell support asked me to reinstall the driver..

I did reinstall the drivers. My fn+f2 only toggles the airplane mode, the wifi stays powered off. In ubuntu I'm able to use fn+f2 to toggle wifi.

I think it's the fn key driver problem.

Do you have quicket installed? What's the version your using and what OS?

EDIT: btw i found that the fn+f2 is not turning on my bluetooth as well.


EDIT 2: Finally manage to solve this. Took me 2 whole days of experiment.
If you face a similar issue where your intel 7265 wifi option is grey out and cannot be turned on by fn+f2, open up device manager, look for Airplane Switch under Human Interface Devices, right click and select uninstall. Before you click ok, make sure to TICK delete the driver from system. Once uninstalled and deleted, scan for hardware changes to make sure it is really uninstalled and deleted. If it still pops up, repeat the step to remove it. Once it is removed, reboot your PC and voila, your fn+f2 is now toggling wifi instead of airplane mode.

good to know that problem solved. I installed Windows 7 on my 5480 but didn't face any issue thou.

did u managed to install SSD on it?

Now I'm waiting for single stick 16GB Low voltage RAM if any...

wanted to install the 1tb SSHD. tested with my 9mm hdd. it doesnt fit. coz you need to turn the hdd upside down, so the pins are higher than the port =(

got 16GB DDR3L???

no news so far on the 16GB. hoping there are soon...

hopefully not. otherwise my purchase wasted lol. i think for now cannot fit 16gb in DDR3L

btw, can the low voltage RAM be slotted to a non-low voltage slot?

i have 5470 and my gf has 5480. we both have the same problem. if you turn on your wifi and bluetooth and connect both (wifi connected to internet, bluetooth connected connected to wireless headphone or mouse), the internet will become very unstable.

if you are using 5mbps or 10mbps unifi, you might not see the difference because the speed is so fast. but if you are using streamyx or P1Wimax (like me), your pages straight cannot load.

if you know a bit of IT, you can try ping-ing and see the moment you connect or turn on the bluetooth, it automatically becomes time out...

yeah, 5480 uses the low voltage ones. Was thinking that should there be a 16GB low voltage ones, i might swap the 8GB to another laptop..

DDR3L 16GB not available now. maximum is 8gb only

i bought my 5480 on last jan (yes as soon as it appears on dell website ). upgrade it with 8GB ram and 250GB ssd.

now its all about d wifi. should i change it also? bcos it really sucks.

Dont know if can fix. need to know what type of network card they use. not sure the N-7265 is which size
