At curve now. Really intrigued by 5480. Its sleek and looks can do the job. However I would like to know two things.

Battery life.

And WiFi issues. Is it major?

hi, just received my 5480. just wondering, is it upgradeable to SSD?

i saw some older model running on HDD doesnt seems to be able to upgrade to SSD.

btw, any place to recommend for the upgrade?

Btw, anyone had any issue with the touchpad? I find it not very sensitive...

5480 so far have no issue with wifi since i was told it is using newer wifi chip compared to 5470.

just wondering, anyone tried 5480 with ssd?

called and ask if i can change my HDD to SSHD, they dunno. asked the technician about msata, they have no idea what is msata. are they just refering to a list of questions and answers?

yeah, so does anyone here know if i can change my HDD to SSHD? i dont think the 9.5mm 1TB SSHD can fit, but the 500GB is 7mm only. should be ok right?

usually if you are getting it directly to Dell, you can speak to their sales agents on their website.
they will allow customization (to some degree) like RAM and also usually throw in freebies/ better prices.

I've got the 5840 dos. WiFi is good and running in Linux Ubuntu but when I switch to my ssd running w8 I can't even switch on the WiFi with fn+f2. Any solution is greatly appreciated. I've installed both dell quickset and 7465 driver

I did reinstall the drivers. My fn+f2 only toggles the airplane mode, the wifi stays powered off. In ubuntu I'm able to use fn+f2 to toggle wifi.

I think it's the fn key driver problem.

Do you have quicket installed? What's the version your using and what OS?

EDIT: btw i found that the fn+f2 is not turning on my bluetooth as well.
EDIT 2: Finally manage to solve this. Took me 2 whole days of experiment.
If you face a similar issue where your intel 7265 wifi option is grey out and cannot be turned on by fn+f2, open up device manager, look for Airplane Switch under Human Interface Devices, right click and select uninstall. Before you click ok, make sure to TICK delete the driver from system. Once uninstalled and deleted, scan for hardware changes to make sure it is really uninstalled and deleted. If it still pops up, repeat the step to remove it. Once it is removed, reboot your PC and voila, your fn+f2 is now toggling wifi instead of airplane mode.

wanted to install the 1tb SSHD. tested with my 9mm hdd. it doesnt fit. coz you need to turn the hdd upside down, so the pins are higher than the port =(

got 16GB DDR3L???

hopefully not. otherwise my purchase wasted lol. i think for now cannot fit 16gb in DDR3L

i bought my 5480 on last jan (yes as soon as it appears on dell website ). upgrade it with 8GB ram and 250GB ssd.

now its all about d wifi. should i change it also? bcos it really sucks.
