Hi Vostro 5470 and 5480 owner..

Wanna ask some question on battery life for this model..
1. How long can the full charge battery tahan (normal use like browsing, MS word)?
2. Did the battery life span degrade much within the year you own? When you newly own this until now, how long you own this toy??

Overall satisfy with it? Durable? Overall life span?
Looking for a laptop can tahan around 5 years..
And battery lifespan at least can tahan 3 years (May degrade abit but not totally spoil)..

Hi 5480 users,

I might be getting the 5480 i7 soon, but have some concerns.

1. How is the battery life for.. regular use. MS Word/Excel, browsing, and videos.
2. Upgrading the ram to 8gb, will it affect the battery life?
3. Any heating issues? I'll be using AutoCAD and Matlab occasionally.

Thanks!

battery life is good. if you use autocad will definitely shorten it. the ram doesnt really affect the battery life. so far no heating issue, you can thank the 2 fans for that

how good is good?
5-6 hours tops?

Then i'm planning to buy the 1TB version, but it's using normal HDD instead of the 500GB with 8GB SSD cache.

Which one is better in your opinion?

if just normal surfing, you can get around 5 hours. but if you run heavy software and watch videos or streaming, it will shorten

Upgraded my 5470 to 8gb ram and SSHD. So far okie. Only one problem. When I shut down, the screen goes blank. But the usb ports still got power and the fan is still turning. Not sure if it's windows 10 problem or what. Anyone got this problem since upgrading to Windows 10?
