Quite close to the weights of Denvers but of course Denvers are 17" rims versus the 18" BBS rims you mentioned. Also the BBS rims are tougher because they are flow forged formed.

Nobody counts the weight of the rims plus tyres.....

It is easy to choose a vehicle that you like once you have gone to both Peugeot and Volkswagen showrooms, see and feel the cars, check all the features, sit inside and feel the interior, and finally test-drive both cars, once or twice if needed. You can then decide yourself rather than asking people to choose for you.

Things like reliability of the car and after-sales service are aspects that you might want to consider. As far as Peugeot vehicles, the French's reliability is a big question mark and due to the electronics, most of the models tend to exhibit problems several years down the road. Nasim's after-sales service is notoriously known to be bad. On the other hand, VW's reliability especially the Passat CBU is definitely better, and better after-sales service too.

As to several remarks that the 508 look better than the Passat, of course it's all subjective. To me, Peugeot vehicles are somewhat awkward looking. The front looks good but the rear of the vehicle looks horrendous. Only the interior of the 508 is decent. The exterior is ugly to me. The Passat looks much elegant on all sides.

In the end, just go view both cars and decide for yourself rather than asking people for biased opinions. It's your money and decision at the end of the day.

Thanks for the advice bro.... Next weekend i will go and test drive the pug since i already tested the passat. For me passat a very good in handling and responsive gearbox and good in cornering. And still got a few features that i am interest with such as fatigue detector if not mistaken. But SA not very well known bout the car. A bit sad.

Only worried bout DSG gearbox that i read in other thread will make the headed occur when its touch bout 20k above or just in a matter of time. The SA told me it was mac on 2011. 2012 ahead all ok ady. But i still doubt bout that.

In the other hand, i compare in pug website it offer so much features compare to passat such as keyless start, quad aircond, and a few others. And i yet to drive it. Price cheaper than passat. After test drive then can compare more regarding ride handling for both cars.

Care to elaborate why down to these two vehicles? What is important to you? If given the choice, I would not go for French cars. Even though there are some issues circulating around with the DSG of the VW, I would still go with the Passat anytime. As suggested by the forummer earlier, most important is go with your heart. Just go test drive and make the decision yourself. (I also feel the 508 is not very good looking, though better than the much uglier 408).

Been looking towards getting VW , now with the same budget I have a hard time choosing between:

1) Golf MK7 - new

2) Golf GTI MK6 - used

wanted the torque of MK6 GTI but used car's condition is unknown despite all being "TIP TOP CONDITION"

MK 7 interior is definitely more appealing than the previous generation

DSG 7 speed dry clutch gearbox vs 6 speed wet clutch gearbox..

new car HP interest rate vs used car interest rate (differ by 1% and that cost around 1.5k per annum)

SA in VW offer me rebate rm4k only for MK7 1.4 Golf..

analysed pro and cons but still having a headache...

VW owners - advice?
