After hearing all of ur stories, I'm a bit worried. I scared there's a lot of hidden charge when hiring a car with driver. So, I thought most probably will follow the hotel / agency day-tour. At least the price u pay for is stated clearly what are things included / excluded. My friend asked me to go to Kuta to survey the prices first since I'm spending 7 nights in Bali.

BTW, have u guyz heard of Intercontinental hotel? The resort I'm staying is directly opposite this hotel. Is it within walking distance to the Jimbaran Beach, which have a lot of restaurants selling seafood?

Also, can u pls. recommend me a restaurant at Jimbaran Beach, which the price is reasonable and the food tastes good.

Appreciate ur help! smile.gif

No need to be scare-lah..Bali ppl are very friendly..for a longer stay ..probably getting 5-6 days car rental wth driver will be much cheaper no need to arrange here..go there & euther get it from the hotel (wth commision paid to the hotel boy-lah) or get urself..u can bargain at the airport too if u want...but for comparison Rp300K is normal...

Not so sure where is Interconintal located...probably near to Ritz carlton & Four season Jimbaran?

The Jimbaran Seafood centre is located just South of Bali Airports there are 2 seafood centre..1st the older & more established Jimbaran Seafood centre consist of a row of ~10 wooden small restaurants but very famous...& that is the location of 2nd Bali Bombing too! (menare seafood..I think beside Ramayana seafood)...The one I tried is the 2nd last resataurant named Lia Cafe...less crowd but the cheapest compare to cut-throat Ramayana in the middle...Ramayana is for Mat Salleh & tour agency offering those US30-US50 seafood package/ pax!! If u refer to my previous posting...the price I paid for my seafood for 3 is <US$10 or Rp68K only at Lia Cafe.

The newer & bigger restaurants are located North of Jimbaran seafod centre & very near to the airport. There are about 15-20 semi D individual brick restaurants probably cater for luxury setting...Not dare to try those restaurants....Diff kampung to be precise..Kg Kedongan...Lotsa "Bumbu Bali" name used here..similar to the one in Puchong but totally diff cooking.. biggrin.gif at the end of this restaurant u can find Kedongan Seafood market...very busy market & u can see lotsa fishing vessel parked there too giving a picture perfect setting against the Nyurah Rai Airport runway. (Infact this fishing market was depicted in one of Bobby Chin feature on Bali...Discovery Travel & Living...)

Let me check whether I can post the J8imbaran seafood photos here.....

Wow..thanks for your reply! I never thought there are two seafood centre. I wonder which one is nearer to my resort. Yes, according to the Internet, my resort is near to Four Seasons. I'll be staying at Royal Bali Beach Club at Jimbaran Bay but I totally dun have any idea where is it! rclxub.gif

Since the seafood price is so cheap, I thought of trying ur Lia Cafe. But how's the food? Is it good? What abt the environment? Thought of having a nice & reasonable price restaurant to celebrate my birthday there. blush.gif

Another thing is, does the price 300 000 rupiah that u mentioned include entrance fees and donation fees? Coz there's one driver quoted 400 000 - 500 000 rupiah (depending on destination package), which are the following:

Included:
- All Entrance Fees
- All Donations
- All Parking Fees
- All Toll Fees
- Petrol
- Required Balinese Dress For Temple Visits
- Umbrella.

Not Included:
- Lunch At A Local Restaurant
- Personal Expenses For Souvenirs
- All Other Expenses Not Explicitly Mentioned Above.

Do u think the price is reasonable? And what should I ask him more?

Based on ur description, Four season is further South of the Jimbaran seafood centre i.e about 2KM away ONLY biggrin.gif ..The Kedongan Seafood centre is furthe North about 4 KM away & just nxt to the airport. I will try to post the environment & the RM25 seafood that I hv taken by Tonite .(Provided photobucket not slow!).The seaffod consist of 1/2kg of griled Baracudda, 1/2Kg of grilled Sotong, 1/2 Kg of Lala + free Kankong, rice, grilled potatoes & acha....This is the cheapest seafood I hv tried....& the grilled seafoods are topped wth Balines gravy + chilies....Environment was so romantic.....but too bad kacau by my daughter asking me to top-up the rice...imagine a 9 yr old managed to finish 2 full plates of rice!!....

On car rental...Extra of Rp100K for all entrance fees is doubled if u to get the Rp300K car from outside ..The most Rp50K for about 5 destinations/day (Normally parking is about Rp1K or Rp2K, entrance fee/illegal tolls (Rp5K to 10K)...The only expensive entrance fee are at Kintamani (Rp10K/pax) & besakith..simply quote !!)//so u can judge from here...Dun think u can visit 10 destinations to utilise the Rp100K extra charge!...Hehe I still recommend u to get the Rp125K car rental & DIY urself it is much more fun doing this way..... biggrin.gif ....sesak punya sesak biut u experience places not recommended b4, not in tourist map & etc..for eg my stumbling of Bali Cliff (2005) & Geger Beach (2007)... rclxms.gif

Thanks a lot, stimix! I think I'm lucky to stay so near to the Jimbaran seafood centre. I'm wondering whether I can walk over there... hmm.gif You are right, if the price is cheap, I can have my dinner there every nite. So looking forward to it. October seems like very long... drool.gif

The haze won't get to Bali-lah...Only Sumatera, M'sia, SG & Kalimantan affected. I was in Jakarta during the worst haze hit M'sia in Aug'05....KLIA was badly affected on the day I took-off but once reaching Jakarta, Sky was so clear...

Hi, there.

Wanna ask whether is it easy to get the airport taxi? Will it be a long queue?

The resort quoted me Rp75,000 for airport pick-up and I guess the airport taxi is Rp50,000 to Jimbaran. Since the difference is not much, should I get the airport pick-up instead?

Also, any comments on the following itinerary?
Are there any places that are not recommended?
I heard that the Bali Bird Park is quite expensive. Anyone been there before?

Day 1: Volcano tour

Barong Dance performance. Daily at 9.30 am.
Bali Bird and Reptile Park
Visit Traditional Balinese house
View of Volcano and Lake Batur
Tasting of Balinese coffee, ginger tea and Balinese spices
Tirta Empul temple
Tegalalang rice view
The rest of the day is spent in Ubud.

Day 2: North Coast tour

Visit Tanah Lot Temple
Driving around country side to see Jatiluwith rice terraces
Ulun Danu Temple with Lake Beratan view
Bedugul fruit and vegetable market
Driving along Lake side, Buyan and Tambilngan lake
Visit Git-Git waterfall
Sunset Uluwatu and watch Kecak dance
Dinner at Jimbaran Beach

Day 3: East Coast tour

Driving along East Coast road to Klungkung
Kertaghosa Justice Palace
Candidasa
Visit traditional Bali village at Tenganan
visit Kehen temple

I think the airport taxi to ur hotel will not cost as much as Rp50K-lah...from the map it is so near..Even the taxi from Airport to Seminyak (Location of my hotel) is only Rp55K. From rought estimate I think it should be around Rp40K only..

Your day 1 itineray is abit hectic bcos travelling North is not near....To Kintamani is about80km away from Jimbaran or about 2hrs of slow journey thru narrow streets...but It can be done if u go early..Pls make sure u go to Kintamani/Batur Volcano before Noon. I regretted going there after 2PM as the whole volcano covered wth cloud just like Genting...Temp up there is similar to Cameron Highland so probably bring sweater (Height ~1300-1400M)..Instead of from Kintamani to Ubud, u can goto Besakith/mt Agung from Kintamani......but make sure u dun pay US$ for the netrance fee...

Other Itinery should be OK...as what other tourist did...Haven't been to the bird/reptile park..buyt I think u can check previous posting...Komodo dragon is the main attraction but for the US$ entrance fee is a no-no.. sad.gif

Haha..I stayed there in 2005....Waterbom (Tuban) is not near there it is located in Legian..Hmnn the price abit exp..I got it for US$20 only from asiarooms.com

Overall I can say the design of the hotel is really authethic Bakinese design.. The room abit old & sometime can see crocroaches running..(compalined & they spray for me...not a bit deal...Beach...hmnnn u actually need to walk about 800M away and this hotel is located on the inner road & block by the "Legian Resort"

Grab it!!! Beach is not so important as u can't swim at Kuta anyway..it is a surf beach.

Not so far actually Balisani is actually located near to Pantai Kuta. If u really hv the stamina, U can actually walk on the bearch (~500M in front of Balisani - Hopefully no construcvtion on the dirt road yet..if no..really have to walk & turn right to the bearch as it is blocked by bali Padma Resot (Sorry previously I said Legian)..From the Beach to Kuta beach (planet Hollywood area) is about 2-3KM walk only...but coming bck will be stressfull..take a cab when bck to hotel...

Yes..

I used the hotel room tel..no charge for calling fixed line.
So, I assume the charges must be nominal ( but am still surprised hotel dont charge!)
reception advised me to use the public phone (there's one in my hotel lobby) to call h/p as it's cheaper.
