Hi, there.
There's only two of us going so I'm wondering whether hiring a driver is cheaper or take those day-tour package from hotel. According my friend, take those hotel package is cheaper coz include lunch and entrance fees. What do u guyz think? This post has been edited by amyho3: Aug 17 2007, 04:52 PM |

After hearing all of ur stories, I'm a bit worried. I scared there's a lot of hidden charge when hiring a car with driver. So, I thought most probably will follow the hotel / agency day-tour. At least the price u pay for is stated clearly what are things included / excluded. My friend asked me to go to Kuta to survey the prices first since I'm spending 7 nights in Bali.
BTW, have u guyz heard of Intercontinental hotel? The resort I'm staying is directly opposite this hotel. Is it within walking distance to the Jimbaran Beach, which have a lot of restaurants selling seafood? Also, can u pls. recommend me a restaurant at Jimbaran Beach, which the price is reasonable and the food tastes good. Appreciate ur help! |

QUOTE(stimix @ Jun 29 2007, 03:26 PM) No need to be scare-lah..Bali ppl are very friendly..for a longer stay ..probably getting 5-6 days car rental wth driver will be much cheaper no need to arrange here..go there & euther get it from the hotel (wth commision paid to the hotel boy-lah) or get urself..u can bargain at the airport too if u want...but for comparison Rp300K is normal... Wow..thanks for your reply! I never thought there are two seafood centre. I wonder which one is nearer to my resort. Yes, according to the Internet, my resort is near to Four Seasons. I'll be staying at Royal Bali Beach Club at Jimbaran Bay but I totally dun have any idea where is it! Not so sure where is Interconintal located...probably near to Ritz carlton & Four season Jimbaran? The Jimbaran Seafood centre is located just South of Bali Airports there are 2 seafood centre..1st the older & more established Jimbaran Seafood centre consist of a row of ~10 wooden small restaurants but very famous...& that is the location of 2nd Bali Bombing too! (menare seafood..I think beside Ramayana seafood)...The one I tried is the 2nd last resataurant named Lia Cafe...less crowd but the cheapest compare to cut-throat Ramayana in the middle...Ramayana is for Mat Salleh & tour agency offering those US30-US50 seafood package/ pax!! If u refer to my previous posting...the price I paid for my seafood for 3 is <US$10 or Rp68K only at Lia Cafe. The newer & bigger restaurants are located North of Jimbaran seafod centre & very near to the airport. There are about 15-20 semi D individual brick restaurants probably cater for luxury setting...Not dare to try those restaurants....Diff kampung to be precise..Kg Kedongan...Lotsa "Bumbu Bali" name used here..similar to the one in Puchong but totally diff cooking.. Let me check whether I can post the J8imbaran seafood photos here..... Since the seafood price is so cheap, I thought of trying ur Lia Cafe. But how's the food? Is it good? What abt the environment? Thought of having a nice & reasonable price restaurant to celebrate my birthday there. Another thing is, does the price 300 000 rupiah that u mentioned include entrance fees and donation fees? Coz there's one driver quoted 400 000 - 500 000 rupiah (depending on destination package), which are the following: Included: - All Entrance Fees - All Donations - All Parking Fees - All Toll Fees - Petrol - Required Balinese Dress For Temple Visits - Umbrella. Not Included: - Lunch At A Local Restaurant - Personal Expenses For Souvenirs - All Other Expenses Not Explicitly Mentioned Above. Do u think the price is reasonable? And what should I ask him more? QUOTE(stimix @ Jun 29 2007, 04:42 PM) Based on ur description, Four season is further South of the Jimbaran seafood centre i.e about 2KM away ONLY Thanks a lot, stimix! I think I'm lucky to stay so near to the Jimbaran seafood centre. I'm wondering whether I can walk over there... On car rental...Extra of Rp100K for all entrance fees is doubled if u to get the Rp300K car from outside ..The most Rp50K for about 5 destinations/day (Normally parking is about Rp1K or Rp2K, entrance fee/illegal tolls (Rp5K to 10K)...The only expensive entrance fee are at Kintamani (Rp10K/pax) & besakith..simply quote !!)//so u can judge from here...Dun think u can visit 10 destinations to utilise the Rp100K extra charge!...Hehe I still recommend u to get the Rp125K car rental & DIY urself it is much more fun doing this way..... Added on June 29, 2007, 6:20 pmH check my GPS map & noted this...Intercontinental is so near to Jimbaran Seafood!!! U're lucky!! Everynitre can go there!! ![]() Jimbaran seafood entrance..U can see Lia Cafe at the end ![]() My dinner cost me RM25 only..... ![]() Candle lite dinner at the beach...Far away is Ramayana..full of customers... ![]() Sample of Kedongan brick Restaurant: ![]() Kedongan fishing market ![]() |

Hi, there.
Wanna ask whether is it easy to get the airport taxi? Will it be a long queue? The resort quoted me Rp75,000 for airport pick-up and I guess the airport taxi is Rp50,000 to Jimbaran. Since the difference is not much, should I get the airport pick-up instead? Also, any comments on the following itinerary? Are there any places that are not recommended? I heard that the Bali Bird Park is quite expensive. Anyone been there before? Day 1: Volcano tour Barong Dance performance. Daily at 9.30 am. Bali Bird and Reptile Park Visit Traditional Balinese house View of Volcano and Lake Batur Tasting of Balinese coffee, ginger tea and Balinese spices Tirta Empul temple Tegalalang rice view The rest of the day is spent in Ubud. Day 2: North Coast tour Visit Tanah Lot Temple Driving around country side to see Jatiluwith rice terraces Ulun Danu Temple with Lake Beratan view Bedugul fruit and vegetable market Driving along Lake side, Buyan and Tambilngan lake Visit Git-Git waterfall Sunset Uluwatu and watch Kecak dance Dinner at Jimbaran Beach Day 3: East Coast tour Driving along East Coast road to Klungkung Kertaghosa Justice Palace Candidasa Visit traditional Bali village at Tenganan visit Kehen temple This post has been edited by amyho3: Jul 3 2007, 09:45 AM |

QUOTE(rushmode @ Jul 18 2007, 11:49 AM) went to bali or the third time last may. stayed in all seasons hotel which is nice. have to walk abit to go to the beach though. U mean original surf brand like Roxy / Quiksilver?anyway. here's a tips for those who wanted to jalan2 around kuta but to lazy to walk. rent a bike/scooter. they cost about rm15 a day. don't worry about the police, u r ok as long as u have the helmet on and follow the road sign. don't langgar the traffic light either.. bali ain't KL. hehe. wanted to buy cheap surfing brand stuff... go on pusing2 outside kuta abit. u'll find warehouse store selling last-season stuff (last season stuff overthere meaning this season punya in KL). they usually have crazy sale up to 70%. Where exactly in Kuta? |

Hi, all. May I know whether this itinerary is alrite? Is Barong Dance & Jenggala Ceramic worth going? Coz I've removed these two items from my list. Also, is Sukawati worth going too? Coz many ppl said that shopping in Ubud is far better than Sukawati.

QUOTE(stimix @ Aug 15 2007, 08:59 PM) 8days..U got Holiday Voucher from Bali Holday ha.... Yeah, I got this free 8D voucher from joining a vacation club. Need to comment on above...Jimbaran is a village or kampung...Nothing there except the Beach and the Kendongan Fishing Market bear to the airport.....u can just go 1 round via car ride..... And probably u can cathc a bus ride to Gilaamuk Port & catch a ferry trip to Banyu Wangi, Java Timur & arrange a trip to Mt Ijen...The famous Sulfur mine....& experience the true active volcano there..... Me and my bf prefer a relaxing holiday so dun wanna go to too many places during our stay. We have hired a driver for 3 full days..so the rest, we'll be on our own. Your suggestion is ideal, but maybe we'll go to Mt Ijen during our next trip. All my friends who are planning to go to Bali include Lovina in their itinerary. The thing is there's not much feedback abt Lovina from this forum. Was wondering whether anyone been there to watch dolphins before? |

QUOTE(xplodingbomb @ Aug 17 2007, 01:08 PM) I agree with stimix. I worried so much before going till headache. Take it as it comes along. You may change your plans when you're there as everyone has different preferences. Whatever it is, take your first time there as the groundwork for future trips!! I know i definitely want to go back to bali again! Always remember its a holiday! Not meant to be rushed and rigid. Thanks a lot guys! I guess I worry too much..hehe..Like myself...I paid Rp400k while I could've paid Rp250k! BTW, I'm paying Rp400K too per day. Somehow, I feel more secured hiring recommended driver although the price is more expensive. The most important thing is the driver must be honest. I'm wondering whether we have to pay for the driver's lunch and dinner? How much tips do u guyz usually give? FYI, I'm hiring my driver for 3 days. Also, how can we make phone call back to Malaysia? Do u guyz buy SIM card there? This post has been edited by amyho3: Aug 17 2007, 04:05 PM |

I wanted to go to Lia Cafe in Jimbaran, but I'm confused on the location. I understand that there are 25 restaurants on the Jimbaran beach, and I thought Lia was one of it. But then, I just found out that Lia is one of the 6 original restaurants nearer to airport. Which means, Lia Cafe it's not on the Jimbaran Beach?? My hotel is within walking distance to the 25 restaurants, but now can I still walk to Lia Cafe?? I couldn't find the Lia Cafe map on the internet.

Yep, I read ur post on that before but I got confused when I read thru other articles about the different spot of seafood restaurants. Sorry ya.
So that means, the 6 restaurants (inc Lia) is nearer to me. Hope the price and quality remains the same as your experience. If it's good, I dun mind to go there every nite since I'm staying quite near to it. |
