sad..xm8 only prototype & sink after the 2008 economy.
It replace by HK 416 or Mk18.

I thought PASKAL is using it(or testing it)now?
ATM mainly using Steyr , M16 and M4 standard issue Rifle only?
are those Steyr and M16 being replace by M4 rifle?

copy rite for steyr expired. Malaysia bought the copy rite of M4, sad, M4 faced very bad problem during in desert environment.
That y US work with HK jemman to produce XM8, but stop by the crisis economi. Endup the pick the HK416 from jerman, MK16 from Belgium, or the MK18 from USA.

M4 will slowly fully withdraw from USMC.

M4 is not as bad as it look.

anyway. USMC did not go for M4 but they are using M16A4 instead.

not buy copyright, but licensing to manufacture locally.
m4 is just carbine version of m16, so it inherit the same pros (lightweight, accurate) and cons (reliability) of the m16.

as far as I know, HK-416 is only use by PASKAL in malaysia?

i saw ggk (gempur gerak khas) pun guna.

HK416 is being widely use by Special security force/commandos world wide.
PASKAL and PGK is using them.

wait USMC itu tak bagi kat frontline aje cuma bagi kat certain pangkat jer?
sebab saya baca USMC itu gunakan M16A4 tak mau guna M4.

SIBU, 12 Mei (Bernama) -- Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) akan terus meronda perairan pantai timur Sabah walaupun Komand Keselamatan Sabah Timur (ESSC) yang menyelia keselamatan menyeluruh kawasan itu, telah mula beroperasi.

Panglima Wilayah Laut Dua Laksamana Muda Datuk Pahlawan Mohammad Rosland Omar berkata TLDM bekerjasama rapat dengan Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (APMM), Pasukan Operasi Marin dan Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia dalam meronda kawasan pantai.

"Oleh kerana Filipina akan mengadakan pilihan raya esok, kita perlu berwaspada terhadap sebarang kemungkinan.

"Kita tidak harus membiarkan kawalan kita reda walaupun keadaan di pantai timur Sabah kini kembali normal," katanya kepada pemberita selepas mesyuarat agong tahunan kelima Persatuan Bekas Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia Sabah di Sibu, Ahad.

Rosland berkata perairan Sabah dikendali oleh 500 personel tentera laut, yang menunjukkan peningkatan tiga kali ganda dari kekuatan sebelumnya, sementara jumlah kapal ditambah daripada tiga kepada 10 kapal dan bot pintas.

"Saya percaya nelayan kita di perairan Sabah kini merasa lebih selamat dengan kehadiran kami," kata beliau.

Pada majlis itu, Rosland menyampaikan 'Pingat Jasa Malaysia' kepada 11 veteran tentera laut.

personally prefer this one. but i suppose its rather new without combat history and yet to be battle-tested. the concept of adaptability is really nice though. kinda wonder if it can stands the hot and humid weather/climate of malaysia without affecting its overall performance.

Officers and SNCOs get M4s because they used to be issued the M9,but everyone figured a pistol doesn't do shit so they get carbines

the M16A4 is still the main issued weapon but the M4 is trinkling down the supply chain to the common man

you hardly see M16s on US army infantry,most carry M4s
