About 16,000 Indonesian troops are preparing for joint military exercises in East Java. Meeting with military commanders, Mr Yudhoyono told them that Indonesia's military should be bigger and more modern than countries like Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. Indonesia's military boasts 470,000 active troops, while the Australian Defence Force has just over 80,000 full-time personnel and reservists.. It has also embarked on a military upgrade program, building warships and drones, as well buying fighter jets, helicopters and rockets. ..................... p/s: any indon members can id the missile at the background. terima kaseh Ozzies: it's on, motherf*cker. |

QUOTE(kerolzarmyfanboy @ May 6 2013, 07:12 PM) what is the function of Marines actually? looks the same as what army does..army can borrow transportation from navy to assault beaches.. amphibious assault. some country is under navy, some country put them under separate branch.most of time used as expeditionary/rapid-deployment force. QUOTE(noavatar @ May 8 2013, 02:31 PM) I believe that was the Australian newspaper wanting to juice up the issue...but still why a demonstration of invasion capability...in the face of peaceful neighbours...when they have a lot of internal security challenges in their hands: SBY has quite an impressive military resume.Communal and religious violence possible relapse of GAM (Free Acheh Movement) Jemaah Islamiyah (e.g bombing at JW Merriot and Carlton) West Papua Natural disaster: flooding, landslides, earthquakes (that's why they need more transport aircraft) trafficking maintaining EEZ as I mentioned...it was power projection...specifically...overlapping territorial claim....i.e. Ambalat....and dissatisfaction about Sipadan-Ligatan This is entirely my opinion....maybe I am wrong btw you must consider SBY, a former general, was speaking at Latihan Gabungan 2013 in front of a large military crowd and, in the lead up to the 2014 presidential election |

they could have started by building a modified AR/AK rifle and progress from there.
i.e. the singaporeans started by building a gas-piston AR clone (sar 80) way back in the 80s/90s. |

QUOTE(limfreelance @ May 13 2013, 02:39 PM) copy rite for steyr expired. Malaysia bought the copy rite of M4, sad, M4 faced very bad problem during in desert environment. not buy copyright, but licensing to manufacture locally. That y US work with HK jemman to produce XM8, but stop by the crisis economi. Endup the pick the HK416 from jerman, MK16 from Belgium, or the MK18 from USA. M4 will slowly fully withdraw from USMC. m4 is just carbine version of m16, so it inherit the same pros (lightweight, accurate) and cons (reliability) of the m16. |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ May 14 2013, 06:26 PM) I think its 6 days based on simulation some years back. Though i think effective conquer wont be so easy since taiwan's heavily built urban jungle. OK.last time i heard from many tw-educated seniors in the 60s/70s that tw's national service was pretty brutal, but hardly hear much about TW NS nowadays. |
