Nah, the old one with 650m... tongue.gif
So far never reached beyond 80'C yet... On average it's usually around 6x-ish with extended gameplay reaching 7x-ish...

i don't think that there'll be y500 with haswell processor... as the one that will come equipped with it is y410p instead of y400, so most probably y510 will be exist

I use mouse on laptops + good graphics, i dont really play FB games... so... no need touch screen IMO
-budget around 2.5K but can topup lil bit
-light and not bulky design is most welcomed biggrin.gif
Z400 is more suitable for  u smile.gif
-all those model got backlit keyboard right??
not sure about Z400, Y400 has red backlight kb
-large screen better or not??
have u used a desktop ? i'm coming from a 22" desktop so i can say... 14" needs a lot of getting used to...

here's my take...

1. hard to predict, but expect these lenovo will need to be replaced as early as 2 years, as late as 3 years.
2. I would suggest Y400 for this, unless graphics capability is really not that important for you.
3. Touch on Win8 are most welcomed, but I would say on a laptop like these? touch is not important... probably you'll use touchpad more than the screen
4. light and not bulky, don't know how it goes comparing both Z400 and Y400... but expect Z500 to be bulky and heavier. I would recommend either Z400 or Y400 if size is an issue.
5. I dont know about Z400.
6. I'll prefer larger screen, smaller will need some time to get used to for me coz I'm from desktop scene. but if you're from laptop area, 14" should be good enough. Larger doesn't mean better as well, usually larger screen comes with FullHD and you won't game with FullHD anyway with that graphics. So maybe smaller will reduce the aliasing (I think...), but really... it boils down to your preference.

1. Depends on how you treat it... My old Acer junk still working since '08. My AW died after serving me since '09 a month back, hence my decision to acquire the Y500 in the first place.

2. Casual gamer..? Define your level of 'casual' as I know of some friends who are casual gamers as well but they emphasise on either the visual aspect or the game or just the fun of it. So sorry there mate, hard to pinpoint casual from my POV here.

3. Personally I don't see the point of touchscreen on lappies. Sure, it's nice to have but it's NOT exactly a necessity. It's obviously needed on tabs and little slabs we call as smartphones but on a laptop..? Nah, we already have a physical keyboard and external mouse for gaming already.

4. You can't go wrong with the Y400 with that budget of yours. nod.gif

5. Heck, I don't even find my Y500 to be bulky at all. It's a major improvement from my old M15x which was a friggin' block of mass.

6. I know Y has it, others I've yet to look on.

7. Depends on your personal preference. Some like it small and compact, some like it big. Keep in mind that bigger screen tend to put a little more load on your GPU as it'll have to cover the pixel real estate. But with today's standards of the GPU, it's not really that noticeable.

tldr : Your own cash, go "test drive" some demo units before deciding. brows.gif

Edit : Grammar and spacing. doh.gif

Q:I want a long lasting laptop?
A:Depends on your usage, and your unit (Touch Wood). Just take good care of your unit

Q:I'm a casual gamer...
A:If you want something future proof Get Y400/Y500, who knows you might game on some intensive MMO's, FPS with your friends. If you are fond to play browser games, get a Z400.

Q:Does touch screen really matter or just a marketing gimmick??
A:Depends on users perspective, let's say you download games from Microsoft Market Store and play Cut The Rope, Angry Birds. Drawing on top of the display like an artist... biggrin.gif. (Unless you go for Yoga).  Since, many people have used to the traditional usage of using laptops. Personally, I don't think you will enjoy touch your display. You might damage the laptop hinges :/

Q:Budget around 2.5K but can topup lil bit..
A:Then go get Y400 or Z400 (If you want 1080p, get the latest Y500) :3

Q:Light and not bulky design is most welcomed biggrin.gif
A:Y400/Y500 looks slim for a SLi Laptop (DTR)biggrin.gif

Q:All those model got backlit keyboard right??
A:As I know, only Y400/Y500 have the red colour back-lit.

Q:Large screen better or not??
A:Larger screen give better view on Movies, YouTube and Gaming on Full Screen. Since, most of the laptops comes with 1080p standard. (I mean 15.6 inch laptops). Of course, 720p do look good on a 14 inch :3
