My friend bought a D600 from me last month. today he bring it back to me in this shape
user posted image

That D600 Was attach with a Nikkor 24-70 F2.8 when it fall down from a table (4ft height).
The metal lens mount Teardwon from the D600 and the stick on the back of 24-70..
We brought it back to nikon malaysia service center today and they said the cost of repair it back to fully functioning might cost another D600... (at the end he buy another new D600, and will leave this in his dry box for the rest of his life..)

Guys, do not hold your D600 with 1 hand when a heavy lens attached. The Metal lens mount is stick on that piece of plastic (D700 and D800 are on metal body)

wah sad RIP cry.gif cry.gif just the front part rip off only need repair so expensive meh? ><

Oh..May be i should rephrase my sentence

Whether worth to buy this lens as this lens will not auto-focus on camera that doesnt' have built-in AF motor such as D5200 biggrin.gif

Oh kk.. Hmmm let me try to explain!

Now switch your camera to AF-C mode and choose 3D tracking later on...

There should be only 1 square in your view finder.. that is where you want to point it to your subject..

Hold the shutter button on the desired subject.. move it to the left/right, to your desired composition.. whats going to happen is that your you will hear your lens AF moving, it is re calculating the distance between the subject and the sensor!

Or you could do this test..

Point ur AF square to your siblings or parents.. ask them to walk infront of you the AF will definitely change to a shorter distance.. but ofcourse this feature will be great with lens with fast AF such as 24-70 or 70-200 vr2 etc!:D

hope it helps!

Wow thats quite insane!

What about the 24-70? Is it alright? Thanks for the heads up about the metal mount on D600
*
24-70 is in perfect shape, surprise that got no scratch at all on that lens.

QUOTE(amduser @ May 2 2013, 09:45 PM)
that's sad, but 24-70 got no tripod collar, so everyone who hang their 24-70 will have a chance for the mount to came off? shocking.gif
can sell the 24-70 and get another D600 laugh.gif
*
dose not mean u must carry your D600 like a baby, but always remember, there`s only a piece of plastic in between your camera and lens, Dont Drop It.... (D800/D700 is connected on the metal dslr body)

just dont drop or knock that lens somewhere.. There is always few reason why D600 is only cost 60% of D800...

actually there is alot of parts connected there.. front body cover, inner body structure, and alot small pieces part.

ya, but some camera survive some small impact cause their metal lens mount is attached on metal body, D600 is just on a piece of plastic... take 2 times more care on D600.. tongue.gif

D90 got no AF fine tuning, while D7100 got.
so if it doesnt work well with D90, then dont buy the lens.
if u calibrate the sigma with d90, other lenses u got may run.
