Agreed. If you wanna master lighting in any situation then shoot in manual and follow your intuition for the best exposure. Sometimes, we rely too much on the exposure meter when we're on aperture/shutter priority.

manual oso got exposure meter rite? ._.

i mount it on my tripod, and suddenly it slowly tilt and fall down, lens first..
luckily it was in my room; it fell down lens first to the carpet..

lens is okay can still autofocus but the barrel stuck at 24mm.. hahaha

but since now using Fx i think will keep it for esthetic value only loh~
sweat.gif the guy that quote me that price only manage to tell me
"we are basically changing everything from the barrel to the autofocus motor, we will just keep the glasses"

so why the hell; stays in the shelves~

thank you

QUOTE(tareh @ Apr 29 2013, 12:01 PM)
sorry, but Sigma and Tokina has any sharpness or softening on the edges issue? so far all UWA reviews says if got $$ go for nikkor, everything else is mediocre. any thoughts on these words? thanks alot!
*
the tokina 11-16 is sharper than the nikon's 10-24 and maybe same or slightly better compare to the 12-24... flare control lose to 12-24...
barrel distortion less complex compared to the nikon. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

search it up on ken rockwell =)

if for canon user, just str8 go for the 10-22.. good enuf. icon_rolleyes.gif

i oso at first planned to go all Nikkor, then made this lens for exception =)

i only tried the v1 before...  I prefer the color rendition from 12-24 nikkor biggrin.gif
the only benefit from the tokki 11-16 is the 2.8 biggrin.gif  I find that it always gave me blue tint biggrin.gif
best is totally dark until you cant see your own finger without a torch light, and the line of sight to your shooting direction as low light as possible.
the place where I shot the photo,  i can only see shape of my hand barely.
*
as in the 12-24 de colour produced better ah? but if colour can correct in lightroom/photoshop de or not? hmm.gif

blue tint as in?
for V2 de so far i know got add coating to reduce the flare loh... colour not sure.. need to test it out...

IMO color rendition is abit moot if you PP alot.
Read some tests about the new coatings, not much difference, flare is one of Tokina's weakness, and it's still there in V2 unfortunately.
*
Pixelpeep? hmm so overall not much diff one rite? without PP-ing

but flare not counted bad to everyne rite? for me abit flare still okay.. the effect nice to me smile.gif

the V2 and V1 just diff is motor and coating only? how bout canon eh...

@ japan just rm200 diff, so i got the V2 instead... in msia rm600 diff @@

if you shoot in RAW, there are more latitude to 'process' biggrin.gif
video is pretty much highly compressed jpegs biggrin.gif

but then, if you can afford, just go for the 12-24 nikkor.  better in every aspect in general use.
*
oo.. i normally shoot raw... nikkor x2 the price eh rclxub.gif 12-24 stil got meh? DXO mark don have the review one? weird.

That's what my cousin told me about the difference between his canon 10-22 and tokina 11-16,
says got difference in color but honestly i can't see any.
Maybe need to upgrade to something similar to his dell ultrasharp to see it  sweat.gif

Doesn't bother me that much though, flare issue also, I just consider it artistic flare. biggrin.gif
What about white balance adjustment?  Possible to do that for video right?

the 12-24 is priced waaaaaaaay out of budget for most people including me  doh.gif

RM3500 vs RM1800(tokina V1) gets you better build quality and color and some additional perks which is not worth it for people looking just for the perspective a wide angle can give like me.

Besides, 11mm and 12mm is very noticeable when compared side by side, even more so with sigma's 10mm starting point, cheaper too.

Really? That's bad then  shakehead.gif

The V1 is really simplistic compared to the V2, no mode dial, no built in flash, no command dial (has a lever for aperture/SS but meh, I like dials brows.gif ).

Looking for the SB-N5, but at the price i was quoted, its HALF of the price of the V1 leh, too bad no third party alternatives  doh.gif

Here's a shot I took today using the V1, PP and cropped in lightroom.

Not mine, on loan from my cousin, planning to get one for myself in the near future.

The build quality is awsome, I dare say equivalent to the 12-24 (no moving lens tube, metal body). But the focus clutch can sometimes jam when switching from A to M.
Photo quality cannot say yet, since I'm waiting to get my D7000 this weekend, upgrading from a D5100 which i sold recently.  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

Damn, 1800 only in japan, here cheapest I got was 2200+  doh.gif  But is there a service center here in Malaysia to honor that warranty though?

Impulse purchase for a lens costing RM3500?? scary weih  shocking.gif

Ehh but they announced the 30mm 1.4 ART for crop bodies , price should be around 1700+ when it arrives here I believe. Not as sharp, but does the job la.

Lenstip has a review already for it, link below
