Had been using it for almost 2 years. Enjoyed its solid 5.1 Surround Sound experience, after pairing it with Xonar DG.

Just became a roccateer yesterday!
Bought a Kone XTD.
I must say it is one of the most comfortable mouse ever and i've used quite a number of them.
It is definitely at par with all the other highend gaming mice.
The best part is the coating. well not actually coating. the feel of the plastic cover is very soft. it's hard to explain. but very nice to hold even for a long time.
And for the lighting...just sexy as heck!
No regrets whatsoever!

Been using a kone pure for about 2 weeks+ Just a short review:

I was hunting for it ever since the release, but ask every local shop and no one brings in. One of the reputable shop even told me "We no longer sell Roccat products. The brand is sub par and most people don't want it anyway." (you know who you are lol)

Had to say its quite interesting, especially the size. I use claw grip and have /really/ small hands so i ruled out the XTD. The dpi up and down is positioned perfectly unlike some other where the dpi up is placed at the other side of the wheel. And the most useful feature is probably Easy Shift. Second useful feature is Profile switching automatically when a specific program/game is launched. Im sure other brands have these kind of function but they look ugly and overated *cough razer cough*

Glad to know that you are enjoying your device.

Now you can tell to the face of those retailers. What Roccat needs is more word of mouth recommendation, their marketing lacks behind those major brands, but hey, the best are best remained secret blush.gif Now you can get most of the Roccat range from Heavyarm thumbup.gif

Need external power to power up apuri. Otherwise your mouse can't even perform at 1000hz. Let alone charging iPad

There is a software to check the mouse report rate. Forgot what its called. I get it asap
The effect is obvious when it comes to play fps game. You will notice a small delay between your gunshot and your mouse click

Its called mouse rate checker. Google for it...less than 1mb. Heavyarm feel free to report if the apuri also causes this. I'm saying cuz it is based on general USB hubs.

Not only Apuri, keyboards with USB hubs also are underpowered one. I had a Logitech keyboard before, only good enough to power thumbdrives, other stuff are barely functional with the low powered hub

Logically speaking, that one port is used to power the entire keyboard. And expect full power to come out hub? I don't think so. That's why I think all hubs are the same

Hi guys.
Remember i had a problem with my Kone XTD?
I got a reply from Roccat.
It seems that if u have Steelseries Engine running, it could block the Roccat mouse.
So after removing Steelseries Engine, the Kone XTD connected with no problem at all!
So happy now, no need to buy a new mouse!
Just sharing this info, maybe someone would find it helpful in the future.

Nice review boss!
But i have to disagree a little bit at the end.

"Not Mac compatible"

It is compatible with Macs, just you cannot tweak it on Mac.
I am using it on both my Windows and Mac using a KVM.
I do the initial set up on windows, and when on Mac, i just choose the profile that i want to use.
The DPI changer also works on Mac.

But if u want to argue that it is not compatible because u cannot tweak it on a Mac, then i guess, it is la.

ROCCAT Kone Pure Core Performance Review
user posted image

Introduction
ROCCAT isn't a new in the gaming equipment market, their previous Kone + had shown it can compete with the top brands (Razer,SteelSeries). ROCCAT released a few more models in the gaming mice lineup. But in this review we will be focusing on the budget laser mouse, the Kone Pure Core Performance. Lets get started.
Technical Specifications
• Pro-Aim Laser Sensor R3 with up to 8200dpi
• 1000Hz polling rate
• 1ms response time
• 12000fps, 10.8megapixel
• 30G acceleration
• 3.8m/s (150ips)
• 16-bit data channel
• 1-5mm Lift off distance
• Tracking & Distance Control Unit
• 72MHz Turbo Core V2 32-bit Arm based MCU
• 576kB onboard memory
• Zero angle snapping/prediction
• 1.8m braided USB cable

Packaging
ROCCAT is quite amazing when it comes to packaging. However the box is big. So what’s inside it? The whole package is consisting only the mouse and a quick installation guide. Now they don’t include a CD for a driver, I feel that’s a wise move. Who will ever use CD these days? Most of us have a good enough internet connection. However this isn’t the point. I will get back to you about this later in the review. And yes, ROCCAT doesn’t include stickers like the other brands in the gaming equipment industry.

The Mouse
I will be covering a few aspects of the mouse. The design, hardware, software and actual real world performance.
Design
user posted image

Side By Side Design Comparison with the Razer DeathAdder 3500DPI
The ROCCAT Kone Pure Core Performance is living up its name. Nothing fancy here other than the glowing ROCCAT logo on the body of the mouse. I believed this is a smaller version of the Kone + and Kone XTD. But it features the same shape as the higher end Kones. The size is just right for my semi claw grip. However I still love a bigger sized mouse. For people with smaller sized hand can palm grip with this mouse, no problem. The mouse features 7 buttons. 6 of them are fully programmable, including the scroll wheel. The whole mouse is rubberized while the bottom of the mouse features a matte finish with 2 huge Teflon mouse feets. And the same as all the other mousefeets, this also attracts dust.

The Hardware
Okay let’s get inside the hardware of the mouse. The mouse uses A9800 sensor. Which is the same as the SteelSeries’s Sensei MLG Edition and the Kone XTD. The mouse features a 8200DPI sensor. The mouse button utilizes Omron switch. Many gamers prefer the Omron switch compared to the conventional TTC switch. It offers a more tactile feedback compared the TTCs. It also includes a 576KB of onboard memory that can store up to 5 profiles.

The Software
Now this is what amazes me. ROCCAT nailed it in the software or ‘tuning’ department.

user posted image
1st stop, main control.
Here you can set the sensitivity options, vertical scroll sped, horizontal tilt speed, dpi and the double click speed. I recommend to set the sensitivity option to 0 to prevent any software interpolation on your mouse movement. The DPI switcher ranges from 200 to 8200 with increments of 200.

user posted image
2nd stop, button assignment
You can set your button to anything you want. They include a macro recorder for easy macro assignment. From the picture above, you can see the Easy Shift button. What easy shift allows you to do is that it creates a temporary profile that you can use all the remapped button on the easy shift section. This is one of the main features that ROCCAT have but the other two main competitors don’t. The other one is ROCCAT Talk. This features allows you to activate ROCCAT’s Keyboard (mainly ISKU, and maybe RYOS in the future) Easy Shift Function. This features may help MMO players who requires a lot of keys but doesn’t want to move around his hand around the keyboard. But for me, I’ll pass on this functions as the games I played doesn’t really require a lot of keys.

user posted image
3rd is the Advanced Control tab. In this tab it allows you to control X and Y Axis sensitivity. Based on my opinion, I find this control rather gimmicky. It also allows you to control the lift distance and tracking control. I personally set TCU to off and the distance control to normal. Normal is just nice for me, the lift distance is estimated around 1mm here. And of course, every gaming mouse MUST have a polling rate controller. And this is also another ROCCAT exclusive, sound feedback is only available if the driver is installed. It makes sure you don’t get lost in which DPI you are at or even the profile you are at.

user posted image
In the color control tab, nothing fancy here. Just the setting for the logo lighting and how you want it to behave.

user posted image
R.A.D is basically your mouse’s mileage. It records what you do with your mouse. And this is my record for 5 days since I got my mouse

user posted image
Lastly the support tab, previously I mentioned software CD is useless because it tends to get outdated. When I 1st got this mouse last week, immediately after I downloaded the software, I was prompted to update the firmware version. Great after sales service from ROCCAT to update your mouse.

Real World Performance
Yes, having 8K DPI is awesome. But ask yourself if you ever going to use 8200DPI in game. But it’s great to have that DPI just in case you are gaming with 3 monitors. But for me 1800DPI is enough for me( I’m using single monitor anyways). I may not have to keyboard to pair it with now, but I can imagine having macros button for quick chat setting for DotA 2 and HoN. (for example ms mid etc.)

Conclusion
The Pros:
-Great hardware for the price tag
-Great Software
The Cons:
-DPI increment can be more flexible
With the price tag of RM269, you can’t really go wrong with this mouse. Powerful performance with a suitable price tag. Gaming mouse from other brand can’t even come close to this price tag.

Lol.

But then again, it's PI. Always expect them to change the pricing. Probably because the Kone + pricing is quite close to the XTD, about 30 bucks difference only. Honestly, if the XTD is priced <300, it can do well, but we'll wait and see la bro flex.gif

Have a roccat pyra wireless
totally sucks
i) 2 AAA energizer battery finish in 1.5 day
ii) the rechargeable battery finish in few hours for normal office usage
ii) shape is bad to hold
iv) scroll wheel is too hard to press
v) sometimes, the left and right button will automatically switched, u need to install roccat software to switch it back (this 1 really funny)
vi) when ur battery almost finish, the mouse pointer become VERY jumpy all over ur desktop, feels like kena hack
vii) if nearby got wireless router, no matter how I switch the frequency to dont clash, IT STILL CLASH.
Problem?? When got high wifi utilization, such as someone nearby is downloading something using wifi, your mouse pointer become extremely slow, low dpi and feels like EXTREMELY lagging (you move your mouse alot, but the cursor only move abit)
viii) when plug with cable, it only recharge your battery. IT WONT ACT AS WIRED MOUSE.

the only good thing is it is rechargeable via usb cable

last time I buy is about RM120
I think better buy RM30-60 logitech wireless mouse
classic and battery can last few months

I am using wired mouse now even on my laptop when in my office
I only use the pyra wireless when I bring my laptop to presentation

anyway, all above complaints are for only 1 model of roccat product
I have no comment for other products
maybe they are good
but I have lost faith in roccat yawn.gif

Used a Kova for quite some time during my various gaming session, I would say size can be very deceiving upon impression, the mice it's self is feels as if it's too tiny and light compared to all other gaming mices I experienced however upon actually using it surprisingly feels very solid and just right.

I would say most users should not have any problem about full-fledged desktop mice giving you a hard time as long as it's not those mini mobile notebooks mices designed for travel then sizes should be the least of your concerns. tongue.gif

Yeap agreed. That is why users have to be aware of it when purchasing.
Most desktop now comes with 5.1 build in as for laptop(except gaming laptop) doesn't

there is a 5.1 sc from creative that cost 250+
but then add on all together will be a different price tag.
internal cost about 100+- for a budget 5.1 sc

QUOTE(881118 @ Apr 26 2013, 02:35 AM)

Heck, I dont even have a soundcard in my rig. Only relying on mobo soundcard. Lolol. But then again, external soundcard is pretty handly for LAN sessions.

The XTD is indeed a good mouse. In terms of paint fading, I doubt it will, if my memory serves me right, the prints on the XTD are not exactly laser printed, so it should be durable enough to sustain unlike the Steelseries Xai whereby it is laser printed, which resulted in fade over time tongue.gif

The light effects are attractive indeed, I find it rather amusing and, especially in a dark room. One feature you should take notice of is the software. If you change DPI on the mouse, you can actually hear someone telling what DPI you are selecting, even volume controls as well. The mouse 'talks' to you brows.gif

they excel in movies and gaming, because of their surround sounding

If you have a ROCCAT mouse then its better to get the ryos to pair up for roccat talk feature
Otherwise
Do refer to mechanical keyboard thread laugh.gif there are more sifus there that can suggest a great mecha kb for the price

thanks for the advice. my only bad news is, that it was not bought locally. the local market came just one month after i bought it.

aand .. i've never done any international warranty before. i'd assume the hassle and cost isnt worth it.

if anyone has done a manual repair before, i'd want some help smile.gif

normally people just change it
repairing is hard since they dont release spareparts, most of the time just need some DIY fixing

I see. I initially wanted the Ryos, but after comparing with other brands, its like you can get more for less than RM500.

Roccat Talk doesn't matter much to me, as I prefer media keys and macros over that. Besides, it consumes battery from the phone from constant WiFi usage.

Very overpriced for a new entry MK by Roccat laugh.gif

Our bro heavyarm has a very awesome deal for the Ryos.

RRP: 599 bundled with Kone + (imnm) and MTW mousepad. That is more than 200+ worth of deals. Defo worth it for those hardcore Roccat loyals.

Tbh 599 is tad overpriced but if bought with the bundle, it is worth it. Without the bundle, might reconsider knowing that I can get a better board for a slightly cheaper price. But we all know that Roccat products are pretty awesome in truth. Price for quality.

Why don't you try to DIY wrap it?

That's why I try to avoid matte finishes on products (except most mouse); they end up damn sticky..

im very bad at DIY >< dont wanna risk making the whole thing go kuku, and yeah avoided those surface like a plague after my kave and g9x end up that way =+= but the problem is most of the mouse uses that kind of material sad.gif

Has anyone dealt or heard from this seller at Garage Sales?

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3016367&hl=

Their Isku + Kone Pure promo at RM450 seems very attractive but I dare not deal with their online store at the moment without any reviews whatsoever.

the entire surface of the mouse is soft to the touch, even the sides.
the software is also one the most customizable in the market, a lot of things to fiddle around with.

Using Roccat Kova for more than 2 years and the side rubber has flaked.

Actually before this I didn't realise that this might be an issue but now it become my main concern to choose a mouse.
That day I try the Kone Pure Orange in Lowyat and I think it don't have this issue (no side rubber).

Yea, it's super smooth due to the material it is used on the surface. You can even roll it up and bring to LAN parties!

Kova is a very old product, Kone Pure has definitely stepped up and material is so much nicer.

Thanks for the reply --I guess I should go and try it out in the shop tomorrow. Hope it's not too small cause I really like what it is so far >_<

Know where I can possibly take a look at the mouse in store?

since my trusty mx518 died...i had to start using my faulty roccat kone again...the first ever roccat in malaysia which I bought in uk along with the taito (maybe 2nd in SEA)

its been in storage for years...took it out of the box n its still working beautifully, except when that faulty bit starts acting up. unfortunately, the rubber coating oso starting to feel sticky since my room no more aircond

the taito has been in use for a long time....but my apuri (also bought in uk with the help of a forumer) not using anymore...

looking for alternative...was considering g400s, but I think its overpriced....how does the kone pure optical hold up againts the g400s?

You might want to consider the size since the kone pure optical is quite small
Try it out yourself if possible and see if its right for you
Features wise kone pure optical do have good features and even better if you have a roccat keyboard to go with it

Anyone thinking of getting the Roccat Ryos MK Pro should think twice..within weeks the F2 light died..I RMA'd the keyboard and after a couple of weeks now the F2, W, and M1 lights died too...horribly quality from Roccat..and this is coming from a Roccat fanboy...
I really expect more from a premium-priced product..

Wanna ask does the easy shift button only locked to the 2 buttons on the left side of the mouse?

Also, i lift my mouse alot. Should i get the optical / laser one?

its common for mechanical keyboards with LED to face these kind of problems. no idea is it because of the quality of LEDs or because of QA issue hmm.gif

Hello freunds, has anyone ever used the brand new KOVA? Post 2015 released ones? My 3 year old KOVA just fell down and got the left click and right click buttons dislodged now....

Now currently I got this Roccat Kone Laser to use but I wanted another for mobility. And I have to know if the new Kova is as lightweight and simple as the old models.

Also the Anti-Thumbprint plastic they've used last time was the best! Thanks

I am quite interested in Roccat Sova as I have a living room type of environment for my PC.

Currently, it is a bit awkward as I am using a tray / small table to house my mechanical keyboard and mouse.

I'm always interested in Roccat products even though I've never own or held one (the mice & keyboard) before (maybe because I like blue color tongue.gif)
It's quite hard to get a secondhand Roccats nowadays eh? I once bought a Roccat Vire 6 years ago. That's when I really in love with the brand.

I'm hoping to get myself a gaming keyboard & mice soon. Any shops that you guys can recommend in Selangor/KL that has full range of Roccat products so that I can feast my eyes?

Thanks!
