1. Preferred Brand - [Ultrabook] Dell, Asus, Samsung, Toshiba
2. Budget - Below RM4500,
3. Usage - Office work, Software simulations
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - Quite powerful, screen size - 13"/14"

My mom has a budget allocated for her to buy a new laptop and she really prefers the ultrabooks. She's gonna use it mostly for office works & some software simulations. No gaming (duhh) & doesn't really mind about the audio/speaker.

Can someone please recommend some options for me? Thank you in advance.

Ultrabooks are usually not equipped with powerful processors yo laugh.gif
Still, can consider this one:
13"
Dell [Ultrabook] XPS13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399[1.36kg], 4GB, W8, backlit
*Price in RRp, negotiable
*use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years complete cover (~RM800)

Otherwise, can consider these:
13"
Lenovo [ultrabook]IdeaPad Yoga 13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399, 4GB, 2 years; colors: grey/orange

14"
Lenovo ThinkPad T430U, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM3799, 4GB, W7P, 3 years on-site warranty

If she prefers something more powerful (but not an ultrabook, then perhaps this one):
14"
ThinkPad Edge E430, i7-3632QM + Nvidia GT635M + 16GB mSATA+750GB HDD@RM3399[2.2kg], W7P/W8, 4GB, anti-glare

Perhaps you can deal with "devour" here at LYN if you don't want to go to Digital Mall and Lowyat Plaza to try your luck icon_rolleyes.gif

The Lenovo Z500 would be a good choice, pretty balanced in terms of performance, weight and also looks:
15.6"
Lenovo Z500, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2299[2.2kg], 4GB, 1TB, backlit, W8; 2 years warranty

*price in RRP, negotiable; then use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years icon_rolleyes.gif

Its a pretty good machine, provided you are not worried about the poor warranty support by Asus Malaysia tongue.gif

Never trust technicians laugh.gif They will do anything to get you to buy their stuffs sweat.gif

Either Lenovo Y500/510p or MSI GE60k
15.6"
MSI GE60K, i5-3230M + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2899, 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, 2 years warranty

though the Y500/510p would still be the better pick because of the stronger CPU and also the potentially better performing GT750M SLI

yeah, the problem is that the Y510p is still not here yet laugh.gif

If you are only comparing the GPU performance, it depends. If you are into gaming the performance is more or less on par in between the GT750M and the GTX660M.
However, if you are into software support (photoshop, bioinformatics etc.), the GTX660m will offer a better edge~

For Toshiba, you might want to wait for awhile since Toshiba is in the midst of refreshing their notebook lineups now...
