You sound so fake. You could have done it without problem. Now you need to pay more to Dr Ainur to keep checking your eyes for 2 years lol

QUOTE(k3llying @ Mar 10 2019, 02:49 PM)
*Sharing my experience with both Optimax and Dr Ainur Rahman ar ADMC*

This will be lengthy but please take time to read. I could have kept this private but decided to share this out as I feel I am one of the lucky ones and hope my sharing can bring more awareness to others before making uninformed decision with one of our most sensitive and important organ.

As a disclaimer, the purpose of my post is not to defame any eye specialist centre but to promote awareness so that others can make informed decision and to not rush.Certainly everyone will be presented a different case and your case may not be the same as mine.

I got my eye checked in Optimax Klang in January 2019 to see if I am fit for LASIK. I was pretty much settled with Optimax since number of my friends did with them many years ago with successful result even to date.

After the check, I was told that I can do either type of LASIK as my cornea is at a good level of thickness. On the same day, I was asked if I want to secure a spot with the promotional price, but would need to go through another round of eye test which will be scheduled only one hour before the surgery. I however did not go on as I felt that the optician who did my report reading was somewhat new, the explanation did not suffice me, to me they were pretty much too surface level.

That insecurity brought me to do more research online, leading to this very helpful forum and very thankful for all active advice from @jialat and brave input from respective cases especially the not so successful ones ! I then went to Dr. Ainur Rahman as recommended by @jialat, and did my eye scans all over again in ADMC on 09 Mar 2019.

Eye scans were done by an optician and as advised I made sure belin test was done. Unlike Optimax, report reading was done by Dr. Ainur himself. He was very patient throughout the session, explaining things making sure that I fully understand my eye condition and the purpose of LASIK (which we all here want to achieve - to have close to perfect eyesight without relying on glasses).

From having a greenlight to go on with LASIK (with Optimax) to hearing a "I will not perform LASIK on you" from Dr Ainur, was shocking.

He showed me a yellow spot on both of my eyes together with a graphical reading on both of my eyes, which he worry that could be a symptom of ectasia formation. This means I could be one of them with unsuccessful LASIK case as my eye sight may not get corrected or worsen. Hence he strongly encouraged me to not go through LASIK and took effort to emphasize that I should not go ahead even if I were to be given greenlight by other doctors.

He, like many have mentioned, is a very ethical doctor and I highly recommend to those who has the intention to do LASIK to go to him. If not him, make sure your report is read by the surgeon him/herself and clear all doubts and do not hesitate to seek second opinion else where if needed until you are know you are making an informed decision.

As for my condition, it is still not 100% confirmed for ectasia formation for now, since I do also have dry eyes and allergen on my eyeflaps which could also contribute to the indication of yellow spot. I will be firstly treated with my dry eyes and subsequently monitored for ectasia for at least 2 years with eye scans every 6 months before we can conclude anything.

Had I not gone to Dr. Ainur for second opinion, I would most likely have fallen to be one of the unfortunate ones (or not).

Great thanks to @jialat and all the contributors of this forum ! Cheers !

I did LASIK with Dr ainur around two weeks ago. So far so good, first day was bad but after that okay. Still having dry eyes and starburst at night , hopefully it slowly improves next few months.

Sorry for late reply, i have asked a few corneal specialists in klang valley private and government hospital eye clinic, they dont seem to know any corneal specialist in jb. I guess if the doctors in jb have a good track record for lasik and positive feedbacks from patient then u can go ahead to do it there. Do update us the progress, thanks.

Yeah happy to answer any questions. Yeah can but it took me a week to start using computer properly but now can do no big deal just don't forget to put eye drops regularly.

You better go consult with him first and see if your eyes are suitable,my eyes were considered dry initially so Dr Ainur wanted to treat the dry eye first before undergoing the surgery so it took more than a month since initial consultation before I did LASIK and so far so good

Hello everyone, did my lasik at Gleneagles last week. After the lasik, the first 10mins or so was ok, after that fuh😥😥😥 I feel like dying... Like it's the end of the world, I cannot open my eyes at all and the discomfort was so strong.

At that point of time, I regretted paying for it and suffering for it. I walked in blindness of course, couldn't even open my eyes. I was so afraid of lights, I had sunglasses and a hat also did not help. Reached home and straightaway slept for a few hours and after, finally could at least open my eyes and vision was still blur. Had dinner and then back to sleep until the next day.

So far everything is ok, but still there's discomfort. Surprising only at my left eyes. Seriously, at this moment , I would still stick to wearing glasses instead. I might change my preference maybe, when I have full vision and forget all the pain and suffering I went through 😜😜😜

As for now, really not sure is it worth it or not!!!! Today is day 2, not afraid of lights anymore . But still slightly uncomfy only on the left eye.

Hi everyone, opinions appreciated.

I have low power, less than 2.00 in each eye. However I have dry eyes and find that wearing contacts make it worse (I don’t like wearing glasses and I find it hinders my movement and activities).

I’ve gone for an initial basic eye check at Optimax and found that I’m suitable for ASA, Femto Lasik and Relex Smile.

After reading more, I think I’m more partial to ASA or TransPRK (are these two the same?) even if the recovery period is longer. Plus, my power is really low and I feel that the more expensive options aren’t really justified, cost wise.

Does anyone happen to know:
- what is the actual recovery period for ASA? Optimax says it’s 2-4 weeks and was really pushing hard for the other two types
- ASA is bladeless from what I can see, but is it painful? I was told that it will be painful
- which centres in KL do TransPRK (assuming it is not ASA)? I know Advance Vision in Uptown does it but the amount of negative reviews in that centre really turns me off

Lastly, if you were me, would you go for 1) ASA for 3k or 2) Femto Lasik for 7k?

Hi, for those with high eye power and thin cornea, now can do ICL with very good discount in ara damansara medical centre under corneal specialist dr Ainur, definitely cheaper than optimax and vista. Can private message me to arrange the discount for surgery and consultation fee.

U can go to him and try his skill then u realised why I strongly recommend his service to members here. I used to recommend optimax and vista if u read my much older post here in this thread. Too bad i dont get any money from them no matter how well I promote them. I wish they pay me too. I saw him solving difficult post lasik corneal cases and thats why i hope no one need to experience the same problem if the surgeon is good.

Anyway the price is much lower than other centres, and its for members who required ICL because cant do femto lasik. I just dont like seeing other centres slaughtering patients for crazy profit.

You are most welcomed. Glad to know that you are enjoying the clear vision. Dr Ainur is very straightforward guy that doesnt hard sell any lasik to his patients, so I am not surprised many hesitated to proceed after check by him 😆

Hi, I am considering of doing monovision lasik surgery as i have been recommended to wear multifocal lens in my recent eye examination. I am 41 this year and have to constantly take off my glasses for reading near.

For monovision, besides unable to watch 3D movies which i don't mind, is there any other effects such as impact to far distance vision ?

The other suggestion that I have read here in this forum is to have normal LASIK surgery to correct both eyes and wear reading glasses but I don't really prefer the option of using reading glasses.

Appreciate any advice from forumers.
