Went for my eye check up at optimax 2 months ago and they said to me that my cornea is a bit too thin meaning i can only do the lasik once but they will not give me a lifetime garranty as i dont have enuf corneal thickness to do a second touch up in case my power comes back...so decided to try my luck with vista at the curve on wednesday and after a through eye examination vista agreed to do the lasik for me and even said i can do the surgery again if in case my power does come back...as my power is only 250 each eye they said to me chances of the power returning in my case is only 5%..even if it does return it will only come up to about 50-75 which will not require u to wear glasses anymore...the surgery they recommended was the iLasik 2 which is rm10k for both eyes[COLOR=red]..JJ from hitz fm and sarah from another radio station which i cant recall also did the same procedure...it seems nasa use the procedure for their astronauts and also the us military for their pilots etc...i could even do the rm7k one but tissue damage saved will be only 20% where as the iLasik 2 is 35% and potential HD vision compared to just normal vision with the other one..so scheduled my surgery the next day itself since dr.aloysius will only be next free after CNY hols so i did not want to waste time anymore....came next day for surgery was a bit nervous but the doctor was really good in calming me down and after about 25min the operation was over...dr.aloysius said the opration went very well...he asked me the time on the clock and i told him it was 230....i was overjoyed...went back home and slept and applied the eyedrops...came next day for the post surgery check up and doctor said i have super vision...my eyesight was 6.0/4.8 which is better than a normal person's eyesight....i am writing this post just 2 days after my surgery mind you...overall couldnt be happier with outcome and thanking dr.aloysius for changing my life...i am not here to promote vista but they gave me a good offer which i accepted and judging from that it has been wonderful so far...if u guys want to know anything bout lasik and the procedures etc etc feel free to pm me and i will get back to you....

Hi All, I am new here. Just wanted to share my personal experience with Dr Wong Jun Shyan at ISEC. Went there for my Pre Lasik Assessment and was diagnosed with thin corneas. I was told that if regression happens I will not be able to have further enhancement. In short if my prescription come back I will still need to wear glasses. Upon hearing the bad news I started asking questions about the odds of getting regression and if regression happens what are the power. The doc was very unfriendly, impatient and always only give me a 3 - 4 words answer and followed by "any other question" everytime aft he answered. He doesn't even look at me when he is replying. He is the kind of doc that did not show a slightest hint of concern for the patient and all he is interested in is the money and getting me out of the room as soon as possible. Well at least this is the impression he gave me. He as the doc should be furnishing me with all the information and not me trying to press for details. This is a basic right for a patient. I asked "what do you think? Should I proceed with the surgery since I have thin corneas and I don't like the idea of wearing glasses again after the surgery. Do you think it is advisable?". Without a hesitation, he said "of course, just schedule your op with the nurse. Any other other question?" Dr Wong is notorious for his bad bedside manner (3 friends of mine have encounters with him and 1 got his surgery done there and 2 left because of his stinky attitude!) Even after all the bad stuff I heard about him I still proceeded to see him because he is technically good. I thought I could  ignore the attitude part but he push it too far.

I went to see a different doc in SG for a 2nd opinion and my experience with this doctor is a lot more pleasant. He took his time to address my concerns and explained to me that even with my thin corneas I should achieve good result with intralase flaps. Dr Wong never explained to me about anything. I don't even know what technology or machine he will using on me. The 2nd doc kindly offer to write a note to Dr Wong as all the medical terms are beyond my comprehension and advised me to have my op done back in Msia because of the price difference. I was a lot more relief and have more understanding and knowledge of the options I have after seeing the 2nd doc. I wrote to Dr Wong to schedule for my op, asked if there's any thing I should prepare prior to my op and attached the letter from the SG doctor. Received a 1 line reply saying "There is no additional prep" from Dr Wong. No comment on the letter at all. Still I booked my trip back to KL and went for the op only to found out at the waiting room that ISEC do not have the Intralase facility and they only do Microkeratome!!!!!! This is totally unacceptable. He could at least let me know that they do not do Intralase! I would be such an idiot if I go anywhere near him ever again!

Nice info bro.!!
Will make it sticky in my eye and brain!
So, where you have your Intralase then?

There are many side effects of Lasik in long term. You could develop a condition called ectasia. If you develop it your life will be completely ruined. Having ectasia is similar to keratoconus. It will progress untill you are completely blind. Even glasses don't work for ectasia patients. Hard lens is only solution to have decent vision.

If you want to minimize the risk of getting ectasia then do PRK / Lasek / Epi-Lasik. It doesn't penetrate the eye like lasik does but it also has its own risks. It removes a thin layer called bowman's layer permanently. So its also not a good thing for your precious cornea.

If you want to be glasses free unfortunately there is no safe way. If you don't wanna be blind in 15 years please don't do lasik. Its really harmful surgery. I don't get why this surgery is not banned yet. There was a time when RK surgery was popular but now those who had RK are now having severe vision problems 15 or 20 years later and there is no fix for it. Now RK surgery is banned in many countries. There would be a time when this lasik will also be banned for blinding millions of patients.

Kudos for providing so much infomation regarding Lasik..etc
I myself also wear spec but would love to be spec-less so that i can do scuba diving....etc.

RK surgery 15-20 years is consider God- given "vision" and continue to be even 10 years down the road.
it is only when the pioneer start to have vision problem.
then it obviously everything have it's own RISK.

Whatever modern lasik.....etc available now.
Are we really want to take a RISK and suffer so-call blindness, maybe in another 15-20 years from now.

Until today, i am still pondering whether i should go "spec-less"

Here's a bit of comparison i made after  6 months of researching and visiting both eye specialists. Optimax and AV. *this is based on my opinion*

Optimax
Pros- Got lots of branches, 24 hours careline, very profesional service, lots of promos, latest hi tech lasers, lifetime warranty, will refund your eye chekup fee if u decided to do lasik there. very comfrotable clinics with tv, drinks, wifi and sofas.

Cons- Very expensive, can be very pushy also, discontinued blade and conventional lasiks so not many choices and its a ' group company' so i feel its more commerialize, consultation done by staff not surgeon. Eye check up is almost rm200. AV only rm 80.
Advance vision

Pros- cheaper cause its managed by the doctor himself, no 'forcing' is involved, you can choose any procedure you prefer, very friendly nurse, lifetime warranty, consultation by doctor itself, friendly and funny doctor, Av really explain everything in detail not like optimax. Optimax more like promoting their latest toy.

Cons- only one branch, so if suddenly tutup kedai habislah, very small clinic, not condusive as optimax, sometimes you must stand and wait, must wait very long cause only one doctor, hard to find parking, only using blade, the machine apprently is quite modern, has an eye tracker and customized stuff but lots of people say its old, so i'm not sure either. One more thing, i don't think AV after sales service is gonna be good (maybe wrong) cause hundreds of patients but only one surgeon and one clinic. One more weird thing, the doctor himself wears glasses so damn abit skeptical[COLOR=red].

Did you ask him about it? (see BOLD RED)

 agreed with above statement.

My personal experience
Going thru so much hassle after lasik , life become miserable instead of improving......
Worse thing is if your surgeon is ...unethical ,irresponsible doctor..and the optometrist too.
Lousy service after surgery. Not telling you the true condition of your eye , why you having double vision , blur vision , affect normal stability of your cornea...

Risk(not due to complication)  after lasik surgery that you really have to consider carefully.

Your eye still giving you problem...
Any solution?

this is the main reason why I never recommend relex smile, there are many like you having vision problem after relex smile done. Some gave up and some went for PRK to rectify even after paying so much for it. FYI, PRK is the traditional method of refractive surgery.
*
So, what you saying now....LASIK.. Relex smile all still not safe procedure after so many years?

What is refractive surgery? So it help in improving the condition as what "Really Confuse" suffering now?

Like to know more. Thanks

relex smile is the latest technology in refractive surgery, and it claimed to be safer and better but thats not true. Once relex smile failed, i think only PRK can help improve it depending on the corneal condition.

bladeless femto custom lasik is still the best so far.

Thanks for the info.
Bladeless femto custom LASIK...need to google more info.

Anyone here can share their experience on bladeless femto custom LASIK?

You sound so fake. You could have done it without problem. Now you need to pay more to Dr Ainur to keep checking your eyes for 2 years lol

Did you read bor?

What he is saying...no harm going for 2nd opinion.
and Not everyone eye as lucky as yours.
