QUOTE(Shinichi @ Apr 13 2013, 10:45 PM) I dont know if other units on market now is having the same problem. if they are the same then I would not even bother to waste my time to ask for replacement. Personally, I will not even bother with this so called "defect". Again is up to your own standards and judgement. If it really bothers you, go and try and ask for replacement - no venture, no gain ! I just checked the 2 units I bought today and doesn't seem to have such a issue. Even it has, I will accept it |

OK these are my immediate impressions of the phone past 2 hours. I will update you guys with more of my thoughts till Sunday . On Monday it will be sent to my brother
The BIG positives : gorgeous display, the best in all the androids I have used to date. Text are extremely fine. I'd say it even puts the ip5 to shame. Superb audio quality through the phone speakers - extremely clear and loud , much better than Butterfly and I noted Beats audio is default enabled while it is not in Butterfly ( only when headset is plug in). Thrash to oblivion my other Xperia Z audio quality ( even with modded audio files) Phone calls - audio quality crystal clear and is way, way much better than Xperia Z Immediate negatives - the 3 dot menu cannot be hidden in certain apps and placed , say at top right or bottom right . I cannot find the settings to do it . It was an option in the Butterfly in the settings/display menu. So for example if you launch Facebook, you see this nasty 3 dot menu at bottom center, immediately reducing the display size to about 4.5 inch only. I will try to google and see any solution to this I am still figuring how to enable additional options to the 2 soft keys. Keyboard as in Butterfly is horrible and overly sensitive. Keep having typing mistakes : suggest use Smart Keyboard Pro or even Swift Key as replacement Browsing smoothness loses out very obviously vs Xperia Z. Display is also overly sensitive so much so, when browsing , just slight touch elsewhere on the webpage will loop you to another web page - quite irritating at times Blinkfeed is nothing new to me as I have been running Sense 5 rom on my Butterfly. It is either you love it or you hate it affair. I love it. And Sense 5 is very, very much smoother , responsive vs Sense 4+. So much so this is the only HTC rom I don't mind using its default UI . All previous HTC , I always use Nova Launcher as replacement And why HTC still wants to put the power button at top and this time is even worse than Butterfly as it is slightly recessed in further , making it slightly more difficult to press it vs Butterfly This post has been edited by benny888: Apr 13 2013, 11:31 PM |

Power savings mode is impressive. With 3g on, receive mail n fb notification, overnight drop over 7 hours I figure around 1-2% Cannot see clearly from HTC chart. I have only install about 20 app only .
USB OTG works flawlessly well with my 64gb Kingston flash thumb drive. I tested copying at one go 16gb data n is very fast ( took under 15 mins) This post has been edited by benny888: Apr 14 2013, 07:33 AM |

QUOTE(Shinichi @ Apr 14 2013, 12:17 AM) Anyone managed to register their warranty online? I couldn't find any relevant link from http://www.htc.com/sea/support/ Look at the A ( ampere) numberAnd 1 stupid question here, can I connect HTC One's USB cable to iPhone 5W power adapter to charge? IPhone has one of the lowest around less than 1.5A,so it is safe but will be slower Check the HTC plug it is indicated I never open it too n instead use my 2.1A ( highest available) iPad usb charger to charge it. I use this in all my stuffs n battery degradation had never worry me. Cos I rarely keep my stuffs beyond a year |

QUOTE(jianlin @ Apr 14 2013, 09:00 AM) I would say smoothness xperia Z has slight edge over it. Cannot comment on speed as so far I find both quite similar basing on the stuffs I do. I don't play any high end games but I would think the One should be better purely based on specs. Amazing benchmark Nos for the One which I will post later. I remember 12000+ for quadrant n 22000+ for Antutu. Will post these together with other benchmark app yet to test |

QUOTE(me076310 @ Apr 14 2013, 10:33 AM) WOW really? i thought the One should blow the xperia Z out of the water (based on specs). How does it compare to the nexus 4 on stock rom? Smoothness Nexus4 will always remains on top - lah!! Is pure vanilla androidSmoothness has little to do with the power of the chip - this will affect speed/performance only |

QUOTE(Hico @ Apr 14 2013, 10:43 AM) Temperature heats up fast ; just using it more than 15 mins on 3G browsing, I see 38 to 40 degree C. It is comparable to Xperia Z and much higher than , say Note 2 ( average 32-35 max). You can easily feel the warmness in your palms |

QUOTE(silrave @ Apr 14 2013, 11:19 AM) Battery life , hard to advise lah. Only less than a full day using itNot impressed so far as just based on 3G browsing, it eats up 25 to 30% /hour !!! Another factor I believe is the higher operating temperature of the phone. It is definitely poorer than Xperia Z as I believe it is due to the weaker 3G/H/H+ signals lockup ( same problem on Butterfly too) - I use same postpaid Maxis on both phones Battery life depends on individual usage - what you used the phone for. For me it is 80% of the time on internet stuffs ( browsing, RSS, Newsfeed, FB, tweeter, email etc) and mainly on 3G/H/H+ too. So based on my usage pattern, so far it loses out to Xperia Z but not conclusive as is less than a day full usage Try reading these web reviews: http://blog.gsmarena.com/htc-one-battery-t...results-are-in/ http://blog.clove.co.uk/2013/03/11/htc-one-battery-life/ |

QUOTE(shark7 @ Apr 14 2013, 11:39 AM) I am back home now ( sorry in Johor no LTE yet). But I don't see why it cannot support Maxis LTE ( 1800, 2600 Mhz bands) as the phone LTE support is on 1800 MHz, 2600 MHzRefer http://www.htc.com/sea/smartphones/htc-one/#specs |

QUOTE(Tsukiyomi001 @ Apr 14 2013, 12:46 PM) thank you! So far based on all those reported at XDA , I don't have those reported issuesit shows that your phone is made on 2 March 2013 people have been complaining about build quality for he early batches, and from what I see, batches made after 30 March seems to be generally fine... do you have any build quality issues? btw, we'll feel more heat as our ambient temperature is higher than those ang mohs Again I'd say buying such stuffs sometimes depends on luck. Not everyone is so "suay" to get problematic unit Even later batchs does not guarantee a problem/defect free - it makes only one more confident that later batches are often better More photos taken at close range » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by benny888: Apr 14 2013, 01:05 PM |

QUOTE(LordDenning @ Apr 14 2013, 01:56 PM) I have said before, I should be the last person to ask to comment on photos quality. My needs are simple : as long as the pics doesn't turn out blur, I am happy. As said before, I am just a simple point and click photographerI am not that professional to comment on color saturation, sharpness, grainy, noise, ISO etc etc - I am hopeless in all these stuffs Having used so many type of smartphones I am happy with all of them. People always say ip5 take great photos but till now I still do not find it any way significantly better than the rest of the phones I have taken to date. Perhaps my standards are too low or not there yet to be able to assess such stuffs. Those web reviews that compare various phone camera shots - sometimes I don't even agree with their comments and those are supposedly professional comments !!! Anyway to satisfy your curiosity, these are snaps taken with my Note 2 - you judge yourself. These are all just point n click shots using default settings » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |
