1. calendar setting "default reminder time" mean it will repeat reminder every timeframe we set right?

2. when ppl call me, the ringtone is soft, and after 1sec then become loud... any setting to make it straight loud?

3. when the message come, it only virbrate once, i thought it will follow ringtone to vibrate?

S3 mini white colour here ... if class 4 8gb memory will the phone become slow ? if can root , my phone can use external memory card to be main memory ? so no need app2sd application

try to call urself if u have s3 mini.. the ringtone will be from soft to loud.... its not loud straight away... its from soft sound to loud sound

Short answer : No.

Long answer is somewhere on XDA but I condense it: Google changed Android from 2.x where you could move apps to SD easily, to disallow this in 4.x. You need to be rooted to do it and fool the OS into thinking it's reading from internal storage.

hmm, to do custom ROMs what is the benefits and what is ROMs actually? should put in first post for newbie like me to learn

A custom ROM is a fully standalone version of the OS, including the kernel (which makes everything run), apps, services, etc - everything you need to operate the device, except it's customized by someone in some way.

So what does the "customized" part mean? Since Android is open source, developers are free to take stock ROMs, modify them, strip them of garbage, optimize them, add things, and pretty much do whatever their imagination and skills allow.

Why You Want Custom ROMs?

1.Update Frequency
Using a custom ROM usually results in more frequent updates that fix bugs and introduce new features because the developer behind the ROM doesn't have the same procedures and red tape that the manufacturer+carrier combo does.
A quality update can be churned faster because it doesn't involve the bureaucracy of 30 different project managers, 15 vice presidents, and 5 dozen marketing departments.
A ROM developer usually gains a loyal community which beta tests his updates in real life situations and provide feedback, or even fixes bugs - that's the beauty of open source software.
Oh and did I mention that ROMs are usually free and supported by optional donations? If you can't afford to pay for it, you don't have to.
Finally, most custom ROMs out there are updateable over the air (OTA) and without reinstalling anything.
Who doesn't love open source after this?

2.Better Performance And Efficiency
Custom ROMs are oftentimes faster, more efficient, and use less memory because
the developer ripped out useless garbage, such as carrier installed apps or
the developer optimized the kernel. For example, an undervolted kernel can provide a much better battery life than the stock one.

3.Upgrading To A Better/Later Version Of Android

You can upgrade to a version of the OS that has not yet been released for your device, or never will be. This is possible in 2 situations:
A leaked version of the new ROM showed up online, and the developer got on it like the fat kid chasing an ice cream truck. This was exactly the case with Hero and Android 2.1, allowing me to upgrade from 1.5 weeks (months) before the official version was available and ditch the bogged down and slow stock OS.
A ROM from another phone was ported by the developer to work on yours. For example, G1 and MyTouch 3G users may never see Android 2.1 officially released on their phones, but Cyanogen, one of the most respected Android developers, was recently able to create a custom ROM running 2.1 for those devices. Oh, what a happy day it was for MT3G and G1 owners.

4.Ability To Install Apps To The SD Card

Most custom ROMs nowadays come with the ability to install applications to the SD card, called Apps2SD (or A2SD).
This is currently not possible on stock ROMs, even in Android 2.1 and is supposedly on Google's TODO list.
If you have run out of space on your phone (which I have repeatedly on my Hero), Apps2SD is a killer feature to have.

there is a very good reason for this and actually, quite a number of people want this function.

basically, it does not 'jolt' and give you a heart attack when the phone rings. can be scary if you're in a quiet place or meeting. or even while you're alseep.

besides that, if you happen to have the phone next to your ear when you get an incoming call, you won't go deaf (if you set the ringer volume to be at highest).

this one depends on the charger... 2A charger charges faster than 1A. and naturally even faster than 0.7A charger.

so you need to take a look at the charger and see what was supplied.

See mydragoon's response. However, even though the charger can output more amps, your phone's charging circuit needs to be able to suck it in as well. If the phone's circuitry limits incoming current to, say, 0.7A or 1.0A, getting a higher A charger will not help.

this battery thingy is very subjective.

but basically, if the battery is charged at fast rate, it will make the battery become warmer than normal (i'm trying to avoid the word 'hot'). and its not good that the battery stays 'warm'. it reduces the battery life.

so, slow charging is supposed to be better. but fact is, no one wants to wait 8 hours for the battery to be charged (big battery plus low A charger can do this). so, its a balance.

if i'm not mistaken, our resident guru benny888 have been using the 2A ipad charger for all his devices.

there's an apps that is being used by the S3 and note2 users to gauge the charging current. you can try to check out the page 1 of those phone threadsand see if there's a link. it's called GCC -- Galaxy Charge Current. or something like that. might work on your phone. <-- if it works, maybe TS can also then put a link on s3 mini's page 1.

I do not know, as no manufacturer has actually published a good, clear guide on how to treat batteries. Almost all the material are from places like what you've been posting, and even in published work on solar charging, they do not provide extensive detail on Li-ions.

Anyway, as long as your battery can last you 1 whole day of normal use, there is no need to worry. The NovaThor CPU is supposed to be the best power-to-watt ratio device among the current generation of CPUs.

my nokia 5800 lithium battery last me for around more than 3 yrs now and still very healthy although i don't know how to maintain battery last time. ha ha...

when i restart the phone itself, the date and time widget load so slow on my home screen? i mean the clock widgets? weird? all apps and other load instantly, only time and date widgets load slow why??

Bro , s3 mini's processor is dual core , 1.0ghz , not quad core , if it is slow , it's normal la.

Another reason it's slow I think is....the widget needs very long time to load. ( it's normal I think )

So, I always encourage people to buy 16gb SGS3 MINI.

Because , u see ----- if u buy 8gb ,u only have 4.4gb left ( for me 4gb is not enough ) , so I would like to choose 16gb , if u buy the 16gb ones , u will have 11gb left ( that's extremely enough for me).

This is my opinion only. You can choose yours and think which one do u need. Either 8gb or 16gb , choose yourself.

I don't have one yet , but gonna get it soon.

Btw , I am using xperia x8 , my widgets also loads very slow , I think it's normal for every phone.

hmm.. i think s3 mini only have 1gb RAM? now only free 340mb...

any idea how to free more RAM? i got history eraser and app cache cleaner but cant clear much RAM? can add RAM like my laptop?

If you read my writeup, I did say RAM is like your work desk. The logic is that a cluttered desk makes you less productive

However, in Android, especially 4.x, it's supposed to handle clutter/garbage collection very well, so you can just use your phone without worrying about free RAM. 1gb RAM is considered adequate for low to mid usage scenarios, since you won't be opening 2 apps like the Note 2/S3 Multiwindow.

Slowness in games is due to the GPU not being powerful enough, and not entirely due to insufficient RAM.

when i first bought the phone, the startup not much lag, but when i install many apps, then the startup loading will be slow a bit because of the much RAM consume by apps ?

Installing of apps does not automatically mean it will mess with your available RAM. Installed apps only consume storage (your drawers). However if the installed app needs to stay alive in RAM to function (eg Viber, Skype, Whatsapp, FB, Gmail etc) then every such installed app will consume a bit of RAM.

If you have plenty such apps, then your available RAM will go down and whenever you startup your phone it will take time since each of these apps have to take time to start.

There is no comparison with Note 2 because it has 2gb of RAM

My free RAM is 600mb.

BTW due to some reserved RAM use by the core system, you will never see all of your 1gb as "total RAM". It will be usually 750mb-800mb.

i try to "stop" the apps like wechat viber whatapps those consume lot of ram especially wechat but i cannot off. when i try to off wechat, it will automatically goes back and consume ram again. why we cannot turn it off and it will restart itself back?

or we have to use apps killer?

Wechat is an app from a Chinese company. They had (still have?) some privacy issues a few months ago. IMHO, I think Chinese programmers do not code very well for commercial apps but they seem to code very well for malware and hacker type programs They did get 1st or 2nd place in the recent global supercomputing programming competition.

I'm told that wechat has lots of females available for chat-ups. Perhaps you too are a participant?

my personal experience... when i kill tasks on Android 4.x onwards, it actually caused battery to become warm and also drain very fast.

best way to be sure... uninstall the apps and reboot the phone.

update1:
* i usually leave my phone charging overnight
* if you're using 3g network at night and with those apps running, ya, not surprising since 3g drains more compared to wifi

For statements like this, be sure to back your claims with a source, and the source has to be credible as well.

Having said that, task killers have been shown to be unnecessary, but it does not "damage" your phone. If you have a source that can prove damage, please share it.

i believe it's more a personal opinion... but with good reasoning behind it.

turning off your network data means you are not connecting to any mobile network (3G, H+, etc). but if you have home wifi, then it might still connect to home wifi.

as for overnight charging... i'm on of those who believe in keeping the battery at full charge. and also one of those that believe the smartphone is smart enough to know how to manage the battery charging... meaning stop the charging, etc...

Well I've read those few articles that support why you don't need task killers, but they never did say outright that it will damage the device. For most things, opinions are fine but should not be taken as gospel truth unless proven true.

that article of his... about not using Task Manager... well, i think what he says is logical. and ya, dun recall him saying it will damage the phone... though my personal experience when i did kill tasks manually on ICS onwards... it caused my phone to get warm and drain battery really fast. so, in a way, it can damage the phone.

yes, i was killing tasks back in GB. that time, i do think GB wasn't really that good at managing the memory yet.
