2. when ppl call me, the ringtone is soft, and after 1sec then become loud... any setting to make it straight loud?
*
there is a very good reason for this and actually, quite a number of people want this function.

basically, it does not 'jolt' and give you a heart attack when the phone rings. can be scary if you're in a quiet place or meeting. or even while you're alseep.

besides that, if you happen to have the phone next to your ear when you get an incoming call, you won't go deaf (if you set the ringer volume to be at highest).

last question before im going off from work - my s3mini 1500mAH batter, took around 3 hours for charging, normal right?

or i need to change charger adapter in order charge fast?
*
this one depends on the charger... 2A charger charges faster than 1A. and naturally even faster than 0.7A charger.

so you need to take a look at the charger and see what was supplied.

i will look at my back of charger after my phone get fully charged.

so, 2A charger is the fastest? if i buy 2A charger, will it damage my battery life? no?
*
QUOTE(girl83 @ Mar 20 2013, 04:58 PM)
Hmm, so how to check my phone able support up to 2A charger?
*
this battery thingy is very subjective.

but basically, if the battery is charged at fast rate, it will make the battery become warmer than normal (i'm trying to avoid the word 'hot'). and its not good that the battery stays 'warm'. it reduces the battery life.

so, slow charging is supposed to be better. but fact is, no one wants to wait 8 hours for the battery to be charged (big battery plus low A charger can do this). so, its a balance.

if i'm not mistaken, our resident guru benny888 have been using the 2A ipad charger for all his devices.

there's an apps that is being used by the S3 and note2 users to gauge the charging current. you can try to check out the page 1 of those phone threadsand see if there's a link. it's called GCC -- Galaxy Charge Current. or something like that. might work on your phone. <-- if it works, maybe TS can also then put a link on s3 mini's page 1. biggrin.gif

i did read up all your posts sifu.

thats mean when the RAM is almost full, it will auto close other application so it won't lag right?

when i first bought the phone, the startup not much lag, but when i install many apps, then the startup loading will be slow a bit because of the much RAM consume by apps ?

May i know what is ur free RAM?
*
lag could be due to many reasons...

widgets running on homescreens...
apps that request for "run when phone starts" <-- gameloft games are notorious for this.

i guess during my first charge battery from night till morning consume onlt 3%

second charge night till morning consume 20%

i think due to widget in homescreen or wechat apps / ymail apps/ whatsapp apps etc.... i killed wechat task and it re-reun itself..

maybe those above i mentioned consume a lot of power during in idle mode? or my battery kong liao?

or do u have any battery watcher/ analyser apps to recommend? ...

this one good ? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...e=search_result
*
my personal experience... when i kill tasks on Android 4.x onwards, it actually caused battery to become warm and also drain very fast.

best way to be sure... uninstall the apps and reboot the phone.

update1:
* i usually leave my phone charging overnight
* if you're using 3g network at night and with those apps running, ya, not surprising since 3g drains more compared to wifi

Well , it's not me.

But it's a guy from YouTube  ( I don't remember who is it ) , but he says it REALLY damage our phone.
*
that guy is an article writer... for phandroid. chris chaves.

update1:
i believe it's more a personal opinion... but with good reasoning behind it.

QUOTE(girl83 @ Mar 21 2013, 12:06 PM)
i off my data network, i think it still will be 3G/HSPA because my area is with 3G?

i stop apps like ymail, wechat, whatapps they will return back automatically

charging overnight wont damage battery?
*
turning off your network data means you are not connecting to any mobile network (3G, H+, etc). but if you have home wifi, then it might still connect to home wifi.

as for overnight charging... i'm on of those who believe in keeping the battery at full charge. and also one of those that believe the smartphone is smart enough to know how to manage the battery charging... meaning stop the charging, etc...

Well I've read those few articles that support why you don't need task killers, but they never did say outright that it will damage the device. For most things, opinions are fine but should not be taken as gospel truth tongue.gif unless proven true.
*
agreed.

that youtube one... very sure its chris from phandroid. i know many mistaken him for 'Google Engineer'. smile.gif

that article of his... about not using Task Manager... well, i think what he says is logical. and ya, dun recall him saying it will damage the phone... though my personal experience when i did kill tasks manually on ICS onwards... it caused my phone to get warm and drain battery really fast. so, in a way, it can damage the phone. biggrin.gif

yes, i was killing tasks back in GB. that time, i do think GB wasn't really that good at managing the memory yet.

I'm using avg antivirus , and it's quite good for me.
*
personally, i never bothered with AV on the mobile phone. but of course this very much depends on the person. i'm the type that is 99% sure my notebook won't get infected even if i dun have AV on notebook.

some good habits on computing (mobile phones included):
* dun simply visit any 'weird' sites
* dun simply install any apps <-- i always check permissions and also the type of comments/ feedback + downloaded how many times
* dun simply install any 3rd party apps <-- someone could extract original APK, modify it (meaning add some codes to steal your data, etc from the phone) and then share it as 'free' version

I see. But it's optional. I always install app from Aptoide , but I don't know whether it's original or third party ones.
*
i checked out Aptoide. one use is for the owner to backup his APK files... of course if the owner 'shares' the APK, theoretically, that could be piracy. also, same thing as i shared earlier, someone could just modify the code, upload and share it...

plus... i saw Final Fantasy apk when i was doing a quick search on that site. hmmm... :S

downloading apps from playstore 99.9% are safe?

and did you use samsung apps, s suggest all those things or u uninstall it since playstore is more than enough?
*
depends on what you mean by 'safe'... if stealing your info is considered safe, then maybe 99%. because to some, what they consider not safe is when the apps make the phone unstable (reboot by itself, etc).

for me... i also avoid apps that spam my notification bar, or "run at start up" (for games coz i dun see why games need this permission).

for me... i'd put the figure as maybe 60% safe... or 70%. the rest... they look dodgy.

as for Samsung Apps, of course i use it. i believe it was joytest who mentioned earlier that some apps in there are free whereas the same apps is not free on Google Play. its free because Samsung paid for it.

but what i understand, the free is for certain phones. Example: Need For Speed is free for note 2.

there are some nice things in the Samsung Apps/ Hubs. I found some nice books on Reader Hub which is free... Like Bulfinch's Mythology. I know that on my Note 2, there's even a rm30 voucher given to anyone who signs up for Learning Hub.

thumbs up for detailed explanation..

maybe i need to check permission too before i download some apps from playstore in the future or thats the reason we need antivirus? but how to check permission?

some apps like to pop out the advs which is quite annoying but no harm on those advs ?

i will make use samsung apps fully thanks for the head up!
*
checking permissions...

from Play website: there's a tab called permission... rolleyes.gif
From Play apps: when you click install or something like that... the next screen you see will be a lost of permissions. you need to click something like OK before you actually install. if you're not comfortable with the permission asked, then just cancel.

for ads and pop up ads... see below.

QUOTE(limyuyang @ Mar 22 2013, 09:19 AM)
Just make sure that you don't click on the ads and go to their website , and you are safe.

If u want saver , download the anti-ads app to clear them all.
*
ad blockers have been recently removed by Google from Google Play. so if you wanna install ad blocker apps, you need to go to 3rd party market.

one type of ad that i find annoying is those that goes into notification. if you know which app is doing this, just go to settings --> applications --> (the apps that is pushing ads in notification) --> uncheck the display notification option or sth like that (sorry, its Friday and I'm a bit lazy to move my hands to the phone to get the exact steps...).

the other type of ad which I'm ok with is the one that appears in game. i normally let it be. fact is... developers need to earn money for food, roof over their head, etc. they gave the apps free to you thinking they can earn from ads. usually, developers will have 2 versions: paid (without ads) and free (but with ads). those apps that charge you and still display apps, feel free to 1* them in reviews. biggrin.gif

i will go on to also add: do support the developers, especially if they have a nice game/ apps. if they dun earn anything for their time (to develop the apps), do you think they will continue to improve it or have a sequel? even rm10 is nothing these days... just probably a McD meal.

good to always check the reviews/ feedback... it's not about how many comments/ reviews the apps have (because there are known cases where reviews are faked using bot accounts). do go thru the reviews and see what issues others are facing, etc...

and also give your own after trying for a week. biggrin.gif
