Just out of curiosity those using mtk quad core + sgx544 are there any benchmarks for them? Compared to say a s600? And the sgx544 is how many core version? Single core?

Some stuff floating around puts it about the same level as a Tegra 3. That's fine.

By the way, as for my vote for the no. 9 spot, I would go for Vivo XPlay.

WHY?
1. Vivo XPlay is a Snapdragon 600 monster. Jiayu S1 is powered by Qualcomm APQ8064 Quad-Core CPU coupled by GPU: Adreno 320.
2. Camera. Both has 13MP rear camera, but as for front camera, Vivo XPlay wins with 5MP, while Jiayu S1 only has 3MP.
3. Battery. Vivo is powered by 3400mAh battery while Jiayu is only 3000mAh. Difference of 400mAh means a lot for heavy users.

Anyway, the only problem I can see is, all those manufacturers won't expand their markets throughout the world. Though they're all cheap, users hardly manage to get a hand on them

STOP! The latest China phones from the likes of UMi, JIAYU and Neo are all coming to Malaysia, with Lando going international but not announcing the list of countries they are going to. There's still hope! Also, there's barely enough news about the Xiaomi Mi3 to write about it.

How about zopo brand? Love their 5.7" screen but the latest zp960 will stick to 5" only. Price tend bit higher than others but it available via online store.

Must standby for bulk purchase if official channel not available in Malaysia after the launch date.

Zopo aren't coming to Malaysia yet, so our only ways of getting they're phones as of now is through online stores and LYN forumers like Username is username and azsace. I recommend you get Zopo phones from azsace for the time being, as he has ready stock.

To date JiaYu have worked on around 10 great updates for the G4 to make this JiaYu phone the greatest they have every released. Updates include:
1. An OS upgrade from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to Android 4.2.
2. The use of a Yamaha audio chip for improved sound quality.
3. The thinner model of the G4 will now get a slightly larger 1850mAh battery.
4. Rear camera lens is now a F2.4 5p lens manufactured by an unnamed international manufacturer.
5. Improvements to 3G SIM support.
6. Both black and white versions of the phone will feature better steel bands around the bodies.
7. Capacitive buttons will only light up when touched to improve battery life.
8. Improved charger for lower load
9. Improved material for the included data connection/charger cable.
10. Updated styling of the packaging.

My mum bought it for me from China.

How can I know the specs and the OS it's running on? And is it root-able?

The box said it's 32GB but the internal storage is only 8GB. Runs on micro-sim.

I don't think ZTE is really established in Malaysia, but Huawei is. Unfortunately though, they offer they're phones at prices that are really too high to be compared with other phones on this list.

may i ask, how does mt6589 perform?? my personal opinion is that mediatek Soc should be categorized in mid range device

eventhought it is a quad core, it is using cortex a7 which is low perfomance but highly efficient in terms of power usage, and the powervr sgx 544 is single core rite?

but i dont really know how does it perform in real life usage, just my opinion

You're opinion is correct. The PowerVR SGX544 used with the chipset is the same as the one used in the iPad 2. As for real life usage, even I have no clue, but according to reviews and user experience it's pretty good.

Based on my research,Sony,HTC,and Samsung don't have higher specs than oppo finder 5 YET still more expensive than it,the only phone now is cheaper than oppo finder 5 is nexus 4,specs slightly different

UMi, JiaYu, Lando, Neo, Xiaomi, Meizu, Oppo and K-Touch have all gone international, and I'm pretty sure quite a lot of these phones can be compared to the likes of Sony, HTC and Samsung. Like the time I compared my old JiaYu G3 to my friends Samsung Galaxy S Advance. Both were in the same price bracket, yet the G3 looked, felt and performed better. Or the time I compared my Newman N2 with a Samsung Galaxy S3.

Well, if they want to become reputable, they had better make sure they have good QC. Give them a chance in the market. If they fail in QC, nobody will want them except for those who can bear the risk.

Yes you are right. It is the fakes that give the China phones a bad name. These other guys (Umi, Jiayu etc) are trying to build their own brand. Hopefully they don't use Proton as a role model ..... whistling.gif

dear TS, as u can see NO1.S5 android is running TD-SCDMA 3g band and we cannot use that in Malaysia for 3g, but 2g is fine ...

I think Samsung should learn from them how to redesign their phones. China seriously have some very pretty phone here especially Lando X2. WTF when I just saw it I was thinking is that a Vertu?? Looks so luxury and classy lol much better than the s3/s4 design.

depend on your luck I guess? haha But well known China Manufacturer has actually got good quality build phones like ZTE or Huawei. Dropped my ZTE from the first floor rolling down the stairs and thup facing down. I tot it would have a spider crack but when I took it up there was only a line of scartch. My phone is even without Gorrila Glass, try that on Gorrila Glass phone smile.gif
Aside of that as long as there are devs willing to make a ROM for the phone I guess I'm fine with it smile.gif
Quality Wise, I find it dosen't differ much unless you bought those really really GOOD phone, with replaced interior with sand and a LED light. smile.gif Then gotta say good luck XD


PS: I do love Samsung phones, their build quality is fine as well. Just think that they should release a line without plastics. For example HTC One and the Xperia Z was one of those great designs ^^

Personally, I'm OK with Samsung, I just feel that sometimes they're phones are overrated. In terms of build quality, they're not much different than most China phones I've used, they're loaded with apps, most which are rarely used, and the only thing they have going for them are they're branding, reputation and marketing. Don't get me wrong, I don't think they're phones suck. It's just that if Samsung were to buy a no name phone and slap they're logo on it, it would still sell really well.

The ones that will have local warranty are the JiaYu G4, UMi X2, Neo N003 and Oppo Find 5. As for kernels and roms, there are a ton to go by, you just need to have the power of Google translate.

Hey there guys! Are any of you guys worried about the quality of the displays on these China phones? Well you're in luck, because Zopo's brand new Zopo ZP980 comes equipped with a 1080p Sharp SLCD display!

Not only that, but Zopo are apparently set on breaking records with they're ZP980, which has the world's thinnest bezel, measuring in at only 2.47mm, beating the JiaYu G4's 2.9mm bezel. The Zopo ZP980 has certainly caught my attention, what do you guys think?

There are some seller have ready stock, but the ptice is expensive than current cheapest price you can get. The price for china phone will always change as alot of new product come out all the time.

So, If you wish to get hand fast, pay a little more for and go for ready stock.

The thing is, the Lenovo is using a dual core processor, while Samsung is using a freakin octa core processor. I'm guessing the intel quad core chip will probably match the Snapdragon 800 in benchmarks.

You comparing the price this way?

About Newman n2,it has 1gb ram as well, 720p screen, but the price is higher.

I'm currently using galaxy note 1, which has 1gb ram ,720p screen, 2500mah battery, 1.40GHz Exynos 4210 dual core
So the Next China phone I'm looking should be 1080p screen, 2gb ram, 2500mah ++, a lot cheaper than RRP 2299, preferably below 1.2k, at least mtk 6589 quad core.

yup, but those big guys are starting to feel the pressure now with china smartphones being cheap, good quality built (Best selling models that is...)...alternative answers to those who cant afford big name phones...

to those who can afford big names, go on and make your purchase...others like me will settle for alternative brands which is cheap and good quality...besides, they knock off note2 specs way off...muahahahah...

Simple. Take a look at the UMi X2. It has specs that match the Xperia Z's, (Albeit a slightly weaker processor) and it's approximately RM1100 cheaper. The point is I like China phones because they offer premium specs for a cheaper price.

I would rather the snapdragon, there is a reason why all the tegras didn’t have very many design wins and that’s because of tdp. Those tegra chips drain batteries faster than the blood from my face when I watched the new evil dead.

I've used plenty of China phones, haven't had any problems. These aren't cheap China clones. These phones come from actual brands with they're own R&D teams. The main reasons these types of brands don't come to Malaysia is because of our close minded Malaysian people who believe that anything from China sucks unless it's from major brands.

so far no issue.

the only problem within 24hrs of receiving the phone, incoming calls directly goto voicemail. A factory reset fixed it. No issue of google play, no battery problem.

I don't play games on it, so i can't comment anything related to gaming

Lenovo paid IBM to become an international brand. Before that they were mainly a China player, but probably the largest.
Xiami and etc need to pay the price of admission to international fame, but they have to start somewhere.

I got one extra set of Newman K1 ready stock. RRP in china is RMB1299. PM a reasonable price if u're interested, counting in the shipping, tax and a bit profit. not urgent sale. so no low ballers.

and most important, is no warranty some more if buy from china, user need to bear both ways shipping return rma if the phone need to send for rma.

with same amount of money, could rather buy with warranty cover in locally, since the phone is not cheap tongue.gif
