Guys,
Both the Umi X2 Turbo (RM988) & the iOcean X7 Elite (RM777) are now available in Malaysia http://www.lelong.com.my/latest-umi-x2-fhd...3-08-Sale-P.htm http://www.lelong.com.my/iocean-x7-1920-10...7-01-Sale-I.htm Both specs are similar, 32GB rom, 2GB ram, 13MP camera, MTK6589T 1.5Ghz, 5" screen, etc. Which is the better choice? In terms of manufacturer quality, housing finishes, etc. Expert opinions welcome This post has been edited by LA-DC5: Jun 30 2013, 08:22 PM |

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Jul 18 2013, 12:07 PM) Dunno, since I tried the non-T version, the T version slightly upgraded version from the non-T version spec. ha ha, ok. thanks broNot really, I remember I saw one update on my friend newly bought iOcean X7. The battery could last for a day I guess? As for accuracy battery reading, not sure about it. Since I'm not using it, I borrow from my friend to try it out the performance only. |

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Jul 18 2013, 04:23 PM) Yupe, non-T version is, MTK6589 Quad core cpu , Cortex A7 Max 1.2GHz, while the T version is, MTK6589, Cortex A7 quad core, 1.5GHz. Bro, does the iOcean X7 have a micro-SD slot? You also notice that, other than the CPU is slightly more powerful, the RAM + ROM more than the Youth non-T version, not forget mention the Elite got 13MP camera. |

QUOTE(BartS @ Jul 23 2013, 03:15 PM) C3 has curved sides. Looks different. I hear it was for the ladies but the curved sides also makes the phone less flimsy. Hi BartS,You might also want to read these > http://forum.zopomobileshop.com/thread-792-1-1.html http://forum.zopomobileshop.com/thread-432-1-1.html Rule of thumb - When in doubt, grab what's cheapest but with the minimal specs you can live with. In more simple terms, get the best bang for your buck. Phone should easily last you 1-2 years. China phones are moving fast. No matter what you buy today, 6 months from now there'll new brands/models that'll entice you. Many thanks for the 2 links, however they are a bit inconclusive. They compared the C2 to the C3 , C3 has tapered edge, but nobody confirmed/verified whether the C2 had gorilla glass or not. Nothing mentioned about the ZP980 either. What's your opinion on firmware support between Zopo & Umi? Which one do you think would provide better software support? |

QUOTE(BartS @ Jul 23 2013, 05:20 PM) According to the 2nd link, the representative from ZopoMobileShop said .. "hello, the screen is the same for zp980 and c2. the difference in color are allowed while not the same production batch. enjoy". This suggest both phones are quite similar. Also found another source > https://www.facebook.com/etotalk/posts/535016119873264 mate, my hat off you you.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I check one local source for pricing and currently C2 Platinum is selling for around RM950 vs zp980's RM1099. Seems the difference in price may be due to zp980 having additional 16GB rom + 2GB ram. Both models comes with 2 batteries. Neither mentions Gorilla glass. In absence of that, better/wiser to presume that they don't have Gorilla protection. Hence, don't stick these phones into your back pocket. Personally, I would choose the RM950 unit as I don't expect myself to require more than 16GB rom/1GB ram for a phone based on MTK6589T. Both models are good lookers but I get put off by their frailty & battery size. Among the 2, Zopo appears to be more respected brand. Fair to assume better support from Zopo. ZP980 is afterall meant for international markets. Not sure if I should mention this next bit about Umi. I don't want to offend any current owners. So I place this into a spoiler. Dont get angry with me if you click on the spoiler. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « really appreciate the trouble you took to compose such a well researched reply. a drink on me if you're ever around the mid valley area. I'm really keen on the ZP980 now, just a shame that it doesn't come with gorilla glass. and the back cover with a rather prominent "zopo" logo on it |

QUOTE(bomberman @ Jul 24 2013, 08:55 AM) Please correct ur info. I'm the owner of Zp980, and it is Gorilla Glass. let me shared more details on the ZOPO ZP980/C2 with you. Mr. Bomberman, actually ZP980 & C2 is the same phone with same hardware except the ROM size & OS when its first released and as what you had knew that ZP980 is intended for oversea market while C2 is for China. 1st Batch of ZOPO ZP980 - ROM size = 16gb - OS = ANdroid 4.2 - Ram = 1gb - Gorilla Screen C2 -Rom Size = 4gb - OS = Aliyun (can flash to android) - Ram = 1gb - Gorilla Screen 2nd Batch C2 Platinum White - ROM size = 16gb - OS = ANdroid 4.2 - Ram = 1gb - Gorilla Screen C2 Platinum Black - ROM size = 16gb - OS = ANdroid 4.2 - Ram = 1gb - NO Gorilla Screen ZP980 (should be released in market ady) - ROM size = 32gb - OS = ANdroid 4.2 - Ram = 2gb - Gorilla Screen Thank you kindly for the clarification, I think your write up is practically the most complete source of data on the differences of various Zopo models. As an owner of the ZP980, have you any complaints? Any noticeable shortcomings? |

QUOTE(bomberman @ Jul 24 2013, 01:29 PM) my earlier review Fantastic review. Good info from firsthand user, I'm sure all the forumers appreciate this.Since got ppl comment that why got no ppl giving review on those china phone. I will try my best to give the most simple review: My Device: Zopo ZP980 aka C2 16gb Spec: Proc: MTK6589 1.2ghz (too bad.. The earlier batch is not MTK6589T) Ram: 1gb (i had no lag or memory insufficient problem after 1 mth used, i'm a low to medium gamer) ROM: 2.46gb (had fixed from 1gb + to 2gb+) for apps Memory: 11.21gb for data files Screen: 5" Full OGS HD screen (the screen is damn sharp and pretty!) Battery: 2000mah x 2 (so far i used only 1 battery, as i worry the back cover will spoilt / loose if i keep opening & close, with 2 sim active, data connected, some gaming, wechat/whatsapp, calls, the battery able to let me to operate from 600am until night 9/10pm with balance 12% - 15%. Of cos its cannot compare with Jiayu, but to me, i think its ok for daily usage. for those who dont want to charge every day, may consider models with higher capacity like Jiayu. Phone ability: No drop calls even data connection 3G is on 24hrs. phone calls are clear and loud. Wifi: I got no issue, to me, the connection is strong & stable. GPS: quickly fix the location. Pretty stable as well. Camera ability: Fantastic! i very happy v the camera performance! rear 13mp/ front 8mp. Stability: I'm on custom ROM now, i can said that this phone is very good except some ghost touch on the touch screen, the auto brightness is a mess where I can 'certified' it as malfunction up to now unless the official ZOPO released a more stable driver for this. But to me, I seldom used the auto brightness since i used smart phone, as it always not suit me for the indoor brigthness. Price vs Performance: I will said it worth for $ as I personally like 5" HD screen & dual sim phone yet stylish designed. but compare with other models like Jiayou & NEO, i will said ZOPO is slightly overpriced. Possible defect: there are forum that mentioned ZOPO C2/ZP980 do not have a metal frame that protect the touchscreen and when it is easily bent and those force will cause the screen to crack. Advise is never put on your back pocket. ANTUTU: 11774 (with sim off, wifi off, screen brightness lowest, no other backgrounds apps running) 10855 (all aboved mentioned tweaks not applied) Satisfy level: 8.9/10 cool2.gif Is it difficult to flash / update firmware? I have heard that people have soft-bricked the C2 while trying to remove the Aliyun OS. Does Zopo have their own interface software? I've got experience with Rockchip based devices, but what do you use to flash Mediatek phones? |
