Yes you are right. It is the fakes that give the China phones a bad name. These other guys (Umi, Jiayu etc) are trying to build their own brand. Hopefully they don't use Proton as a role model .....

If we infer that MTK's own published data show that it performs like a Tegra 3, and Exynos beats Tegra 3, so we can infer that RK3188 should beat MTK quadcore.

Don't know if any phones have it, but several tablets do. There was this guy faifai94 who started a thread last week for a tablet he bought based on this chip.

The truth is that the majority of Android devices are made in China under contract from companies like Samsung, LG, Asus or Sony etc. So in one sense whenever you buy a big brand phone it is actually a Chinese phone! Plus companies like ZTE and Huawei, which are both native Chinese giants, are making big inroads into the branded Android smartphone market. There are also lesser known brands (in the West) like ThL, who have 341 stores across China. And of course we can’t forget Lenovo!
