and also how about the smoothness of operation? does 1GB Ram enough to warrant a day to day with lots apps without lagging?

I tried loading a lot of programs. Each time I check the App manager, I always have 350-500 mb of free ram. With that in mind, I'll postulate 2GB is not direly needed at this time.

Jiayu is renown for the quality of their builds. The G4 is no exception and is solidly put together.

As to the 1GB query, I cannot answer that as I do not load my phone with that many apps. What about your current phone? How much ram does it have and does that amount of ram seem laggy to you?

It's to my understanding that ONLY those who are heavily into gaming may require those 2GBs. Perhaps this youtube video may help your query

Thank you mr. BartS for reconfirming.
with this i pretty much set on Jiayu G4.
Though the only hurdle left is waiting to know the price for the newly launch updated Jiayu G4 Basic vs Jiayu G4 Advance.

If the price gap is too much, then i would easily pick the 1GB Ram version.

I wish the price wont be too far from rm800.
Though a wishful thinking as the updated one come with a better camera and MTK6589T.

I think we can estimate the new pricing. G4 Basic Turbo version with 1GB ram, 4GB rom should cost marginally more than current non-turbo version. Not sure how more the faster proc will drain the battery.

The Advanced model has an updated camera & 2GB ram. The 32GB rom will surely push the price up a fair bit. I estimate it will cost similar to what's currently quoted for the Neo. At that price, maybe not a bad idea to settle for the cheaper model. With the savings made, you can work towards early next year when they start pushing out those octo core phones.

I forgot to mention. You should also consider the Zopo C2 Premium

* MTK6589T, Cortex A7 quad core, 1.5GHz;
* GPU: PowerVR SGX 544
* ROM 16GB
* RAM 1GB
* Gorilla Glass 2

I did read the review on that latest C2 Premium.
From the test, i get a basic idea what Jiayu G4 Turbo with 1GB Ram gonna be.
The thing that not really my cup of tea is the 5inc screen. I rather have a tad smaller.
And of coz, the batt of jiayu g4 is bigger than C2.
Plus i like G4 design more.
C2 design give me a feeling of iphone too much.

nevertheless, C2 is on my watch-list.
Behind Xiaomi Mi2s.

My prediction for the price,
Updated Jiayu G4 basic - Rm800-900
Jiayu G4 Advance - Rm1050-1150

I have some IPhone users mistaking the G4 as the latest (and larger) IPhone.

Since got ppl comment that why got no ppl giving review on those china phone. I will try my best to give the most simple review:

My Device: Zopo ZP980 aka C2 16gb

Spec:
Proc: MTK6589 1.2ghz (too bad.. The earlier batch is not MTK6589T)

Ram: 1gb (i had no lag or memory insufficient problem after 1 mth used, i'm a low to medium gamer)

ROM: 2.46gb (had fixed from 1gb + to 2gb+) for apps

Memory: 11.21gb for data files

Screen: 5" Full OGS HD screen (the screen is damn sharp and pretty!)

Battery: 2000mah x 2 (so far i used only 1 battery, as i worry the back cover will spoilt / loose if i keep opening & close, with 2 sim active, data connected, some gaming, wechat/whatsapp, calls, the battery able to let me to operate from 600am until night 9/10pm with balance 12% - 15%. Of cos its cannot compare with Jiayu, but to me, i think its ok for daily usage. for those who dont want to charge every day, may consider models with higher capacity like Jiayu.

Phone ability: No drop calls even data connection 3G is on 24hrs. phone calls are clear and loud.

Wifi: I got no issue, to me, the connection is strong & stable.

GPS: quickly fix the location. Pretty stable as well.

Camera ability: Fantastic! i very happy v the camera performance! rear 13mp/ front 8mp.

Stability: I'm on custom ROM now, i can said that this phone is very good except some ghost touch on the touch screen, the auto brightness is a mess where I can 'certified' it as malfunction up to now unless the official ZOPO released a more stable driver for this. But to me, I seldom used the auto brightness since i used smart phone, as it always not suit me for the indoor brigthness.

Price vs Performance: I will said it worth for $ as I personally like 5" HD screen & dual sim phone yet stylish designed. but compare with other models like Jiayou & NEO, i will said ZOPO is slightly overpriced.

Possible defect: there are forum that mentioned ZOPO C2/ZP980 do not have a metal frame that protect the touchscreen and when it is easily bent and those force will cause the screen to crack. Advise is never put on your back pocket.

ANTUTU: 11774 (with sim off, wifi off, screen brightness lowest, no other backgrounds apps running)
10855 (all aboved mentioned tweaks not applied)

Satisfy level: 8.9/10 cool2.gif

I was wondering if anyone here bought and use THL W8 which pack the same chipset and processor as ZOPO C2/ZP980. If there are, please post some simple reviews on the THL W8

RM1199

4.5-inch qHD display
Qualcomm MSM8625Q Snapdragon 200
Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A5
Battery 1860 mAh
RAM 1 GB
ROM 8 GB
8MP Back
1.6MP Front

UI : HTC Blinkfeed and HTC Boomsound with Beats Audio

Dual Active Sims

Although the price is where i initially predicted, still disappointed as i wish it be below 1k.
At this price i go with Jiayu g4 advance or even zopo c2 premium. (dual sim)

If i just looking for a single sim phone, then it is the obvious Xiaomi Mi2S.

I have no idea how customer service or aftersales service from HTC.
I do know that their flagship phone htc one is good albeit expensive.

That would also be my main gripe about Zopo. That silver band which runs round the phone isn't alloy but plastic presumably painted silver. What will it look like in 2 years after the sweat from your hands eats away at the silver colour? With Jiayu G4, you get a steel band which gives the phone a more premium feel.

Speaking of flimsy builds, it appears Umi X2 also requires improving.

unfortunately for 5.3inc display, the batt is just 2250 mAh, thus I'm not sure if it will last a day,
A decent choice, yeah, plus with it is officially sold in malaysia, atleast we know it got reputation, local warranty, and also locally well known brand.

However as the thread is more towards Cheaper phone with superior spec n quality, but relatively unknown brand in malaysia. (aka Shenzhen mari punya) So i prefer other cheaper but better spec alternative. heh. cool2.gif

Anyone using any of the chinese phone on the list can confirm if the real camera hardware resolution is like the specification and not interpolated(example, 8MP sensor interpolated to produce 13MP pictures)?

You can you "Z - Device Test" app from play store to check it. Here's the link to the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...evicetest&hl=en
