I wonder if the SGX544 GPU single core clocked at 286MHz in MTK6589 chipset powerful enough to handle the 1080p Full HD display without lag and drop in frame rate especially when playing high graphic games like N.O.V.A 3

Which one faster than S4?
*
I don't think any of these MTK6589 quad core A7 processor faster than the one used in s4 in octo-core version( which use two quad core, one quad-core A15 and change it to more power saving and less powerful quad core A7 alternatively when using app that consume less CPU power.

Also, the international version use quad-core Krait which is on the same par with A15 cpu. So no, MTK6589T which use 1.5Ghz quad-core A7 will be a lot more slower compared to A15 and Krait.

I read here somewhere that 1.2GHz A7 is only like near 1.0Ghz A9 or less. And of course it will be A LOT MORE slower compared to A15 and Krait.

Don't just think that it's on par with S4 just because it both have quad-core... smile.gif

don't think any other cpu for now that can win against the one used in S4

MTK6589 is about 70% of S3 performance. so with MTK6589t it might be be able to be on par with S3 cpu.
but 1 thing for sure, it is faster than any dual core cpu out there.
*
I'm not really sure about that... I read here otherwise that dual-core A9 is faster than quad-core A7... Much more quad-core A9 used in S3... http://blog.wholesaleonepiece.com/dual-cor...core-a7-review/

I have a tablet using A9 dual core and 1GB RAM and phone A7 quad core 1GB RAM. Both also 720P display. Can really notice the performance different. Even Antutu score for the A9 manage to get half of A7 score.
*
Maybe it's the inferior SGX531 GPU used for dual core A9 MTK6577 version compared to SGX544 in the quad core A7 MTK6589 version. I wonder why they don't pair the superior SGX544 GPU with dual core A9, is it to cut cost or something.

What's a LEWA OS and how's that different from stock Android?

Strange that those who have already bought the phone doesn't mention how fast this phone boots up. Almost eerie.
*
It's a modified and customized version of android... kinda like Samsung's own modified user interface called TouchWiz. And yes my MTK6577 phone boot so fast too, kinda suspicious eh biggrin.gif

That's odd. My G4 feels a lot like my Nexus 7. Didn't quite like the default Jiayu Launcher. Have since changed to Go launcher.

What do you mean your G4 feel like Nexus 7?

Anyone using any of the chinese phone on the list can confirm if the real camera hardware resolution is like the specification and not interpolated(example, 8MP sensor interpolated to produce 13MP pictures)?

You can you "Z - Device Test" app from play store to check it. Here's the link to the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...evicetest&hl=en

I was currently deciding which phone to get to replace my Xperia Sola.

Within the budget of RM700-RM1.2K Any suggestion thought? Of course , the lower the better.

I was thinking JiaYu G4 , is it good? And using MTK Processor , quite worry about the performance thought.
*
I would suggest you get a Nexus 4 if budget isn't an issue since most of MTK6589T phones priced almost the price of Nexus 4 but only few hundred RM cheaper but if you want my suggestion for these chinese phone i agree that JiaYu G4 have really good quality.

Anyone using any of the chinese phone can use this app "Z - Device Test" and find out if the camera MegaPixel stated is legit and not interpolated?

I tried both storage options, internal and SD cards. Nothing worked out well including the ROMs, it came with latest ROM and i tried to downgrade it into a stable ones, also did not work. I bet i got a defective unit which is bad. Goodluck for u bro, hope u'll get a nice one. No doubt the everything was perfect except for the crashing issues. It could last for 2 days with heavy usage, i'm impressed.

You got the 3000mah battery version right? Does it feel heavy in hand?

QUOTE(MrMocha @ Aug 18 2013, 12:11 AM)
Can we discuss whether a 1GB RAM phone is all we need instead of 2GB phone?

I know that more RAM the better. But let say the diff in price is more than rm200++.

Will it be worth it?

From a vid in youtube, it showed to us that a 1GB Ram phone will auto kill some of the background apps in order for latest apps to run. While the 2GB ram ain't killing anythg just yet.

This raise a question of how many tabs can i open when i surf internet. As those will hogged the RAM and subsequently reload the page.

What do you guys think?
*
Killing the background app use processing power so with bigger ram size it means that the system doesn't have to kill the background apps and it should save some battery life. Also whenever you want to use that app the system have to restart the app which also use processor power. If you have a lot of apps installed running in the background, having more RAM might save the battery life - just a theory anyway.

-When talk about gaming, PowerVR SGX544 with clockspeed 544MHz that come with MTK6589T processor is good enough for casual gaming, but Minion rush is somehow a exception, before the latest update, it run really smooth on my ZOPO C2(flagship), smoother than Nexus 7, but after the latest update, it was crap, I do believe is the apps compatiblility, other game like AVP, Real racing 3, Dungeon hunter 4 are running smooth.

*
544Mhz gpu clockspeed? If I'm not wrong it's actually 357Mhz for the MTK6589T version. BTW anyone can confirm that the camera megapixel on these chinese phones is real and not interpolated?

Opss, rmb wrongly, 544MHz is S4 clockspped, MTK6589T is 357MHz.

Here is the image taken by my ZOPO C2(flagship), 13MP

Bro you're currently using ZOPO C2 ah? Can you use "Z-DeviceTest" app and check both front and back camera resolution? Because my front camera sensor hardware is actually 0.3MP but interpolated to 2MP with system tweak... haiz cant really complain for the price.

Nexus 4 drop price already, now about RM830 only with quite fast processor(it use Krait cpu which is based on 15 instead of A7 like on mediatek). Is it worth it to buy chinese phone that doesn't have much developer support unlike Nexus 4 just for dual sim function?

This might be a little off topic but anyone got problem with SMS/caller id recognition with these chinese phone? Or is it the bug in android itself

I saved my contact numbers in "0123456789" format and incoming caller id are able to recognize it but it failed to recognize incoming SMS which come in this format with country code "+60123456789".

Then I try to fix this by changing my contact saved to include country code that look like this - "+60123456789" the incoming SMS shows the name of the sender correctly since the incoming message always in "+60123456789" format but incoming call aren't able to recognize that format so when somebody call me it would show "0123456789" instead of name.

So why is it incoming call are in "0123456789" format but incoming SMS are in "+60123456789"? This would cause multiple SMS thread from same person if I text someone using "0123456789" since their SMS reply would be in "+60123456789" format
