gkl83, recommend me a setup for this:

setup A
1 pc
1 modem+router (connect by lan to my computer)
1 phone nearby
no pc-to-pc networking
everything located in the same room.
recommend me something with multiple socket.

setup B
tv with antenna (no astro)

postage to glenmarie.
*

for setup A, u can use MDSC0039 + SP9201DAF
for setup B, u can use STV9511 for power and antenna

anyway, my daily location in glenmarie too... smile.gif

QUOTE(ckyongs @ Jul 21 2010, 12:39 AM)
i saw a few with max 10A, but i have some equipment rated max 3.1kva 13A.
please advise if you have any model is suitable for me.

thx.
*

actually u can use 10A model for 13A equipments... 10A still can support 13A current... usually equipments wont full load 13A all the time... Cal-Lab concerned that high power consumption equipments which may hit higher than 13A+++ and may over load their products, that why they recommended 10A for safe side.. anyway, i can use their 10A model for 1HP air con without doubt... smile.gif

One question here,
Why we need those ADSL or RJ45 for protection.

Aint that if the phoneline (RJ11) protected, those after the phoneline all protected?

Thanks!
*

RJ11 is just a registered jack type as market standard...

there may have different data type go passing thru RJ11 jack...
example: telephone / fax = analog; broadband = digital

usually RJ11 only used Pin 2 & 3 for voice... but as your information KeyPhone system used Pin 2 & 3 for voice call, but Pin 1 & Pin 4 for data (display the extension status, direct line usage, etc), for this kind of KeyPhone system u may use other model for 99.9% compatibility and 99.9% protection...

It is not about "wire to wire" direct connection... As broadband is a "sensitive" application, any interruption in between will cause the disconnection, that the reasons need to design a specialized model to suit with broadband and able to support higher speed (4mb+ speed)...

assumed RJ11 can cater up to 4mb, then dial up modem (56kbps) should able to support 4mb too since is the same RJ11... why dial up modem cant support the speed & reinvent the wheel? bcos dial up modem only support analog interface, and the telecommunication provider reuse the market standard (RJ11) for broadband (digital interface) as concerned cost efficiency, reduce the lowest cost and bring the best functionality...

FYI, as heard may have "broadband over power cable" in the future, and replace RJ11 due to costly copper wire, so Cal-Lab may come out another model to support such technology too... FYI, Aztech have such product "local network over power cable" and Cal-Lab built another new model for 3 pin power socket interface to support it without interrupting the power and networking speed... smile.gif

Don't have all in one product?

If let's I have a wired LAN cable connected to my router from other room?
*

Cal-Lab dont have all in one product due to the cost of production and may less demand...
but separate the modules may good as well bcos u just to replace the damaged module only without change whole unit... smile.gif

for ur case, may look alike like this...
u can give me the detailed information and i will draft out the diagram for u...

uiyo...baru saw your topic... does cal-lab hav insurance?

been using belkin on my computer and HT sad.gif hope i wont get any lighting strike
*

Cal-Lab previous have the insurance with AIG... due to the hassle to maintain the agreement, less demand for buyers & efficiency of Cal-Lab, the management decided no tied up with insurance company as they confident that their product can 99.99% against lightning... smile.gif

as long as your installation done correctly, provided all the required information & followed my recommendation, 99.99% wont be a problem... smile.gif

Hi, I am kind of interested in CLLI. The question that Cyanide was asking is " By protecting the 2 source of possible lightning <path>, namely TNB's powerline and TM's phoneline, that should be sufficient in protecting the entire network as the Cat5/RJ45 cable within the isolation isnt gonna get hit by lightning right?"
*

it all depend on your equipments setup... i cant recommend appropriate setup if u no informed me your complete equipments setup...

the surge can come from other PCs and lead the surge to ur router & PC thru lan cable
hence if u have telephone nearby ur equipments, the statcis built by telephone enough to kill sensitive equipments

anyway, we cant judge the source lightning / surge as it can come from anywhere...

Hi,
I have 2 unit of 9401-9511. Which provides 1 MS-1(3socket) and TV antennae protection.

However, the TV antennae port is already rusted. Please advise if the unit should still be used. (probably had it for 10plus years)

The 2 red indicator light is still on.

Thanks
*

since the port rusted, believe the picture quality will effected too...

u can try to do enquiry with cal-lab show room whether their replacement unit can be provided to replace ur old 9511, believe they allowed too and can be replace with another working unit with RM25 even though u used for 10 years... smile.gif

their show room at bandar utama and here the phone number for enquiry 03-77268680...

Hi gkl83,

I've got a few things I need your advice on. My setup is as below.

Room 1: With a TV, Astro, VCR player, VCD player, home theater,  AV unit. We split them between two outlets.

Room 2: Cordless phone only.

Room 3: One Aztech modem + Netgear wireless router.

Thanks a lot.
*

Room 1: you means splited into 2 islands within the same room? is it the power drawing from the same power socket? it your TV connected to antenna?
u can use SFTV9622FC for power + antenna + astro + telephone protection. Otherwise u can use MDSC0039FC for power + astro protection if u dont have antenna connected to your TV

Room 2: for free hassle, u can use SF9512ARD as it will protect ur AC adapter and standard 3 UK power socket. Otherwise u can use TJP9633, but the jack size or voltage of AC adapter may vary, required your information about your AC adapter power output before get the TJP9633 for you...

Room 3: have any PC nearby ur modem & router? have any wired lan cable to your router?

Hi.

Room 1: Actually its two different power sockets. We plug a powerboard into each socket and from there approx 3 devices are connected to it.

Room 2: Can you also recommend one to protect the a/c adapted and also the phone line? Concerned that lightning will travel down the phone line besides from the power socket.

Room 3: We use wireless router so no PC is connected via LAN or nearby it. I think I need a protection for two of these devices. Anything to suggest? Maybe to also protect the phone line going into the modem?

Thank you.
*

Room1:
Can help to draw a top-down vide of your room? need to understand where ur equipments & power socket located

Room 2:
you can use SF9512ARD if u dont mind the size, bulky bit if compare to TJP9633...

Room 3:
if no single wired lan cable, what u need to protect is power + broadband, u can use SF9512DSL or SF9812DSL...

Setup 1: you can use AV Pack for higher range with multisocket which support 2000w. otherwise u can go for MDSC0039FC (1000w) if dont have antenna connection on your LCD TV & no telephone nearby ur TV setup...
