There is no uptrend on FD rates at the moment.
As we see 1 year FD rate is just slight above short term rate, suggested bank do not see rate to move up in near term.

As little expect BNM to raise interest rate in the near future, due to weak external economy, as well as slower GDP number recently.

Bro, somehow I just don't feel comfortable mentioning MBSB deposit products to others even tho the major share holder is EPF and as such it should be regarded as "safe".

Let me rephrase... there are more ads in newspaper nowadays as compare to few months back tongue.gif

Was trying to understand whether the aggressive marketing is an antempt to hedge for potential increase in blr or to replenish cash deficit due to outflow of hotmoney from msia...smile.gif

Am bank provides free insurance matching to the FD amount you have, A dollar insurance to a dollar of FD, up to RM25k maximum on insurance. Last year when I checked was RM25k.

There is an age limit on insurance coverage which I think is 65 years old. Please check with the bank. My mum placed there because of higher interest (last time for senior citizen and the bank open on certain Sunday).
If the parents ages are over the insurance limit, you can open joint FD account and the insurance coverage is "transfered" to the joint account holder.

That's pretty attractive. I'll inform my aunt about it as she has some funds available in Ambank to be put into FD. Do you know what's the minimum and maximum amount that can be deposited?
